If the DEVS made the path to JEDI what we see in the films, books and comics, There would be no NEED WHATSOEVER OF GRINDING 1.2 BILLION FXP THROUGH COMBAT!

It would be done via QUESTS only. why cant we the players unite as one and call for a better opening system to the path of JEDI.

im not asking for it to be changed again, only the start of it to be changed.

in NEW HOPE. Luke skywalker was given a lightsaber without killing some over hyped jedi with 100k hams, i didnt see sith barge into obi-wans house to fight them. so please, get behind me and demand our lightsaber quest to be implemented.

==============

Jessians vision of the lightsaber Quest

==============

Three sub-quests within this main one, We recieve once we get to village.

1) Find Crystal for Lightsaber, we are given 10 waypoints around the galaxy, each one is guarded by 5 sith troopers. (3 pirates and 2 outlaws) one the way to each waypoint we are attacked by outlaws (groups no more than 5)

once we search the camp of these sith, we can find either another waypoint to the crystal or we FIND a crystal that is used in the lightsaber creation. (these cant be sold, or lootable by NON -Force sensitive people) Once the crstal is found, we head back to the village for the quest to find a hilt.

2) Part two of the quest, sees our little FS character search out 5 more waypoints, these can be on any Planet. (devs can decide) but not in any form of dungeon. Again the camps here spawn sith, this time (1 thug, 2 pirates and 3 outlaws) here we need our group to attack these beasts. and once again the choice of finding the hilt or another waypoint to the hilt is found, (either in camp or on thug/pirate)
Head back to village after this is done..

3) Last part of the quest is to visit any of the Jedi shrines to build our lightsaber. Now please note, this part of the quest (if failed, means we have to do it again) here the FS chappie has to sit focused making the lightsaber, the player goes into AFK mode, (no other NPC spawning nearby can attack us) this can take, one hour or more, depending on planet, shrine and the like.

=====================

This quest, allows us FS players to be able to wield a lightsaber. Here the devs can change it, so ONLY the lightsaber gives us FS experience and thus removes this "exploiting" or using nades to gather it up. Only this conversion can either be left alone. allowing us to grind or to use lightsabers in battle.

** If a player uses a lightsaber in PVP or in town to attack NPC. any bounty hunters can attack that FS character. NO Force XP is lot here.

===== TIME to RANT OVER this idea players ===========

Jessian, I really like this idea.

When the devs began to speak about doing away with the holo-grind, and implementing something 'healthier', something quest-based... this is the kind of thing that I had in mind.

Now, there are many people out there that are interested in becoming Jedi, but have no combat skills. While I agree that Jedi IS a combat class, and every Jedi needs to have some combat skills ( you can try to tell the Bounty Hunters that you're a healing or crafting Jedi, but I don't think they're going to care too much ), some people will always seek a non-destructive path through crafting, healing, etc.

Thus, we would need something in place for them as well. Maybe a quest that gives you rudimentary Force Healing powers, with which a Doctor could begin to gain FS experience... or another quest that opens a 'Force-enhanced experiment' option in the crafting menu, where crafters could choose to become more focused on the task of creating an object by tapping into the Force?

These basic Force powers would be the only things that gave FS experience, so the more you called upon the Force to guide you, the more in-tune you became ( progressed along the path ). In essence, you would be learning to "use the Force, Luke...", and would become more proficient in letting it guide you.

Just a few thoughts from someone who hasn't had nearly enough coffee this morning.

Seems to me like your looking for an easy jedi...If you cant handle this grind then Jedi grinding will make you quit.

Now i agree that i dont like grinding BUT I hate the idea of quests even more. I beleive the path to jedi should be hard...real hard. Random spawn on a random planet at a random time. Basicaly being in the right place at the right time with some requisites on your game experiance.

My roommate just started playing a few weeks ago and he is already FS, Finished his first quest and filled it in. That isnt hard AT ALL. The grind is only long because its 3 week gate per phase.

The idea you mention is WAY to easy and would add exponential numbers to the already outrageous jedi population. The FS grind has already detered many people and if thats what it takes then so be it.

where in my post do i mention EASY path to jedi? i dont.

i even ask for the GRIND to stay, only the fact we have the lightsaber to be used to collect it. did you bother to read, or just to flame?

the lightsaber in the hands of a FS, but it can be limited in the amount of FXP it gives out. it could be limited to say, 500 FXP per kill, making the player CHOSE between forms of gathering XP. either the grind with combat or with lightsaber. either way its your choice. the existing system is designed to stop people head for jedi. but not at the expense of people leaving the game all together, as this WILL kill SWG.

oh we have jedi, but you cant get it sort of mentaility will not work. LOOK at the amount of players that HAVE left and would leave, the next big publish, combat upgrade, is the last chance this game has.

for me any way.

I don't think I'm looking for an 'easy Jedi' at all, as you say. I've done 22 professions under the old system that earned me 4 unlocks with the new system, and I'm currently finishing off the last branch so that I can get to the Padawan Trials. It wouldn't affect me one bit if they changed the system.

I'm looking for what many others are looking for... content. We're looking to "Live the Saga", as SOE put it. I totally agree that Jedi should be hard to get. Remember back when the game started, and no one had a clue as to how to unlock Jedi, so they ran around doing every quest, talking to every NPC, scouring every planet for some sign of the Force? THAT was FUN. Just shooting in the dark, hoping to stumble upon something. At that time, I thought that perhaps the system randomly picked people to be Force-Sensetive, or maybe some hidden thing "triggered" Force Sensetivity in a character. We tried everything we could imagine. Why? Because we didn't know.

Now, the path is clean-cut and straight-forward... grind your tail off. The mystery and excitement is gone, and like the Holo-grind, it's nothing more than "do the same thing for hours on end".

Is it easy?

Is it hard?

That depends on your point of view, I guess. It's hard in the fact that it's time-consuming, yet at the same time, it's easy in the fact that it requires little to no brain power.

I'm not claiming to have 'the answer' to anything, I'm merely offering ideas that would, in my opinion, give a bit of flavor to the path. If that translates into me 'looking for an easy Jedi', as you put it... well, you're free to think what you like.

I personally think what is needed for crafter classes is a new system that will allow them to unlock a 2nd character. Many people are grinding to Jedi just for this reason, andbecause of the way the FS system is setup, you need to have your main as a combat class to get your 2nd character - which can then be a crafting class to compliment your main.

If your main is a crafter class then you have to either get guild members/friends to help you get glowy and then grind millions of creds of resources for no real reason. Then you are going to have great fun killing the 55k ham jedi & friends!!!

I'm relatively new to the game (within a month)... And since I've been playing, I've gotten Master Scout, working on Ranger, and done some Novice Carbineer stuff. From what I can see from the discussions in this forum, the FS grind is HUGE. Is this bad, not really, because, as aformentioned, it thins the herd, so to speak. But while I agree that a very difficult process of becoming a Jedi is important, I think it should be difficult in time, not in grind.

I'd like to see a system that is time based. Because if you have Commando 4/0/0/0 and you grind 4-6 hours a day, I'm sure you'll hit Padawan at the end of the phase cycle (can't be sure though). But who has time to work at this game for that long daily?!?! And should it be "work"? Probably not. I'd like to see a system that allows you to do "Jedi-ish" things to get you to become a Jedi. Like helping people. More quests that don't just unlock xp grinds, but that actually make you do something useful. Just throwing around ideas here. And in the end, we pay alot of money to play a game that has all the elements of SW (especially now, with Jump2LightSpeed), except the Jedi part. It's pretty complex, it's exclusive to combat professions (maybe rightfully so), and it probably takes your average player a LONG time to get it.

Was that SOE's intention? Maybe. If it's a system that's meant to take you 6 months, while you play the game without concentrating directly on FS xp, then so be it. But I dunno... I was going to try to do the whole Jedi thing, but the grind has really discouraged me from it.

I have no real answer, some people liek the system, some don't... Like my mom used to say, "If you don't like the game, play something else." I'm sure that if the Jedi system causes a mass exodus from SWG, SOE will probably "adjust" it. If it doesn't cause people to run away in tears, then it'll probably stay the way it is.

I believe the Dev's are completely aware and actually condone the use of grenades as a means of grinding combat exp. and I will give you the reason why I believe this. Remember back a few mini-publishes ago when the Dev's finally fixed the wookiee light fragmentation grenade cert.? Do you remember when this fix occurred? That's right! AFTER all the posts popped up on the FS board about racking up combat exp. using grenades.

While this may not seem like indisputable proof it does seem to back what alot of people have been saying about grenade use in the FS grind. Also this grenade grind has cost me millions for armor, grenades and grenade pup's and the Dev's believe anything that removes credits from the masses is a good thing to help deflate the economy (except for the few wealth WS's)

I believe that this issue makes some people mad because they are SWG purists and that the path to obtaining Jedi-hood should be mystical, magical and time consuming and that anything that shortens the path or makes it easier to obtain seems to cheapen the accomplishment in their eyes.

Well that's my .02 do with it what you will.

Combat Upgrade
Different doesn't always mean better. Just something else to learn and do before you realize. Hey! This system stinks just like the old system! Dev's: Wait for the CU 2 to fix that.

I must be strange, quests are what I like best. I'd dearly love to see a system where you can not olny quest Jedi, but do Jedi as a quest system, doing missions to help solve problems, ect. Having to PvP to advance through knight is as un-jedi like as possible. Yea, we have to defend ourselves, and on sad occasion kill for the better good, but it is not the Jedi way, it's a last resort. The path to Jedi does allow you to stay out of combat, but Jedi does not

this is all we are asking for, and it would be nice to get all the FS players to pitch in, my goal isnt just my own vision of the first quest, make lightsaber, (which TIES in with the STAR WARS universe) but in the whole aspect of BEING JEDI.

JeDI isnt about running around killing all and sundry, its about being at peace, tranquility, alas SWG is not peaceful. every single thing has to be grinded out this keeps players paying SOE for the service, IE loggin in and out.

we have a choice, pay up or shut up. but we also have another choice, we all know lucasarts are now taking over the reign of SWG. so lets keep at it until we have fairness for ALL force sensitive players and not just uber leet speaking powergamers.

SOE, must be aware of the player loss over the last five months, since the new jedi system came out, hell i got 2 emails asking me to come back! (even though i did) once i finish my uni coursework this week. im going to spend one whole day making up a new Jedi system that would be completely Quest based. each quest will help every single profession in the game, give the required time to achieve it, and still have some form of grind.

the game gets boaring people, after the 100th kill in one buff session. hell, i made sure i didnt powergame when i came back, thank the maker for uni work kept me away from here 99.999% of the time.

So once i have a new system for jedi (quest based) i will post it up on a website and start sending it to any magazine or other STAR WAR related website.

if anyone else wants to contribute. please let me know via PM here.

well the only thing im concerned about if you nerf the grenades so it makes it harder for the people to get jedi then i want every person that has unlocked in the last two months to be revoked of there skillsand be sent back to fs grinding like the rest of us...i mean all the way back

to novice of what they used

so does that sound fair? I hope it doesso you can whine some more about how youallgrind just as much as we do

I think you missed the WHOLE point of this thread, i am NOT asking for any NERF of any profession. So please, READ the posts correctly. This thread is in regards to all the other" posts on that subject of nerfing nades. i aruge that the whole grind fest could have been made a LOT EASIER FOR ALL PLAYERS!!!

my goal was to get all the players doing a quest to get their lightsaber, this would have been the only way (depending on players view point) of collecting Force-Sensitive XP.

OR it could have been used like this...

Combat XP stays the same for all weapons. 30-1 Combat XP currently at 3-1 (if i remember correctly) can be moved up to say 15:1 (since nades are being used)

But using our lightsaber, we could have got Force XP right off the bat.... say, for example. Famba, gives out 3k per kill, if we used a lightsaber on it, we get (3-1) for it. so it would have been... 300 FXP)

this way we are all happy. we have our glowing stick, we can gather Force XP, since we are force sensitive surely we can use it? its not focused by the player or has the ability to tap into the great current of power.

and im not having a go at you PlayerXXX. i only want what i see in the films, ROLEPLAY my Character in STAR WARS!!!

PLEASe, DEVS. GO OUT INTO A STORE IN THE USA, AND RE-READ THE BOX!!

I have to disagree with this idea. The point of the grind is to control Jedi population. If they make it quests then everyone really would have one. Either it would be really short line to jedi, or the devs would have to spend months coming up with months worth of quests to complete. Logistics nightmare. Concept is sound though.
