Not everyone takes Aura dude , so this is what you did or plan to do but act like it's necessary.

you want either doctor for the healing and the buffs and the fact that you can put out fire on yourself. and you will want scout 3000 for Ter negotiation. outside of that, I would say you want an elite ranged profession (prob BH) so you can have some rnaged defense. Remember, most pop BH format right now is CM/BH you want ranged def and buffs. hope this helps

Hey captain obvious, not everyone takes any of the skills I mentioned.
Op wanted suggestions and I gave mine.
I'm sure the op is smart enough to realize its just a suggestion and to make their own informed decision.

What would everyone suggest as the best template or profession to have when you first unlock? I hear Teras Kasi Master, or Doctor, but I would appreciate a professional, or even Jedi opinion.
What non-Jedi skills you do or do not have very much depends on whether you expect to do any grinding solo, or if you know you're always going to be in a group, and what your personal attitude is toward visibility. Keep in mind that most non-Jedi attacks, and any non-Jedi healing, will "steal" Jedi xp in favour of weapons or medic xp.
TKM innate armour cancels out the moment you equip your saber, so unless you're going to grind Powers completely saber-less, no help there. Always helpful to know though that as soon as you unequip your saber (which you will do a LOT if you grind on Dant) you have enough innate defences to survive a BH's alpha strike.
What is useful from TKM is:Power Boost, obviously.TKA 0004 for General Melee Accuracy and Speed. The big one for a starting Padawan thoughisImproved CoB -- you can unequip your saber, apply Improved CoB, then re-equip. If you're going to keep TKA, stay 0100 'til the last.
Master Combat Medic is very very useful to the solo Padawan. DoT's like poison and fire can tick on the mob, and literally triple your damage output when firststarting out, yet you will get full Jedi xp. These DoT's also have a range of 32m, so it's a useful skill to use to pull a mob, rather than a ranged weapons which will again steal xp.
If you plan on grinding completely in groups, then anything that will give you high defences and high General Melee Accuracy and Speed (though these are good for anyone, solo or grouped). You won't be drawing aggro most of the time, as your damage output will be minimal, so most of what you'll be doing is the "hit-once for xp" style of hunting - you know, playing whack-a-gurk. If you're a little more licentious about visibility, then skills that will let you go toe-to-toe with an attacking BH will certainly come in handy, such as Rifleman, BH, or Smuggler (great specials!).Another tip for those who are more looseabout their vis would be to bank your xp rather than spend it on skills right away. Your xp loss on a BH death is 2000x the number of SP you have spent on Jedi skills (not including FS). The less SP you've spent the lower your loss. Besides, from a psychological viewpoint, it's easier to swallow aloss of xpwhen you stillhave positive xp after the loss.
It's far less difficult to stay off the terms than it was, and far less likely that even if you are, a BH will draw your name - anonymity has seriously curtailed the bottom-feeding of some BH's onlow-level Padawan and moving player bounties to the MBH box has removed the dabblers. So tailoring your template specificallyfor the eventuality that a BH will show is not nearly as important as it was.
Off topic a bit, get a good PSG and keep it on. Use a combo ofKanali Wafers, Spiced Tea, and Blob Candy for 1+ hour of food buffs. Get a good Adv. Laser Rifle for NPC's around your lair or if a BH goes out of range, and a good Featherweight FWG5 for BH's with high Energy resist armour(most of 'em, as lightsabers do energy damage).
I would look at your current template, and decide whatof it you will drop first and what you will keep to the bitter end. There's good stuff in most templates that can really help you without wasting time regrinding a template you're going to get rid of in a few months anyways.
My 2 credits.

ummmm, you know you cannot equip armor while aggroed right? and the worst thing you can do is go toe to toe with a BH using a ranged weapon as your ranged def will be much lower, he will have the advantage of 1st strike AND if you depend on force heals you wont be able to use them with armor and/or weapon equiped. So uhhh, please dont take this the wrong way but, have fun in the negative Jedi XP hole.
You can use Force Heal with any weapon equipped that you like, or no weapon. And Stim-D's with Ruby Bliel work just as well for Jedi as they do for non-Jedi -- better because they won't drain your Force pool the way Force Heals do.

That's what I understand. I set my radar to like 1024, so I usually see anything coming from plenty of ways off. And as a BH myself, I feel that will give me a distinct advantage when facing a BH. Although, if I do this properly, a bh will be hard pressed to find me on the terms.

Common wisdom dictates that setting your radar to 256m gives the best update speed. Even so, your overhead map will update far quicker than the radar, and at max will show you a~500m radius. Leave it on. Radar is good for acquiring the player name so you can /ex for a MBH badge or /tar for your /duel;/endduel macro.
It's not as difficult as it was to stay off the terms. That being said, Dantooine is challenging because of the number of players grinding in a small area around the MO, and the number of them who find it amusing to grief grinding Jedi by continually "buzzing" them over and overasthey hunt in order to deliberately give them visibility.
