Day 7 (Monday 28th)
No time to play today
Day 8 (Tuesday March 1st)
Yay, i got some time spare.
10.30pm I finally got to log in. Ok first off, need to promise myself I would log out by 12.30am. As i've been late for work too many times last week. hehe.
Firing up the game, hands rubbing together excitedly. I was eager to get into the game and play my character. Hopefully get a few more of those Padawan trials completed. Hope being the the operative word here.
Ok, here we go. I travelled over to Corellia from Tatooine. My last mission had been in Wayfar on Tatooine, and was a complete success. Once I arrived on Corellia, i hopped on a shuttle over to Bela Vistal. I've gotten to the point where I just want to get to the easiest and nearest Shrine to get my missions from.
Why's that?
Because while i'm enjoying these missions, a great deal i might add, they're getting me a little frustrated, since there are so many bug issues with them.
My main problem has been as follows:
I get my mission from the Shrine. I travel to the planet and location. However, i sometimes overshoot the location due to having to travel around some extended wall that blocks me from the npc i need to speak with. Well, i've noticed that if you go out of a certain range from the NPC once he's spawned in to speak with you, he then vanishes again, never to return.
So you have to then go meditate at a shrine again and restart the current quest.
Not only does this happen to the NPC you speak with to get the mission, but it happens to the NPC's you speak with at the mission waypoints. It really can get to you after having it happen about 6 or 7 times in a row.
Ok, that said and done, i prepared myself and got my mission from the shrine. I now make sure to get all of my missions on Tatooine. So it involved a lot of meditating and restarting of the current quest hehe.
Finally got it to give me Tatooine as the location.
Off i go. Arriving in Mos Eisley, that wretched place of scum and villainy, reminding myself i must be cautious
Oh dear, some people are so clumsy with their possessions.
Well, off i go, out into the desert, the twin suns beating their oppressive heat down on me.
Nearing the waypoint, i stumble across and into a small outpost that had formed.
There's the waypoint and there's the NPC...
and wait...
there's the....
oh no. Someone dropped a house on the NPC (click me to see). It felt like the Wizard of Oz all over again. Only this time, there wasn't any shiny red shoes to take, nor was there any ring to retrieve.
Oh well, notch this one up as another unfortunate. I can go redo it again, it's no worries.
Off I travel, back to Corellia and over to Bela Vistal. Onwards i push towards the Shrine again. Instantly falling into that always uncomfortable looking kneel stance. I restarted the current quest again, over and over until i got it back on Mos Eisley. Hoping and praying it wouldn't give me the exact same location again hehe.
Still full of enthusiasm, i jet my way over to Tatooine and land in Mos Eisley. Aah this time the NPC i need to speak with is by the cloning centre. Good, must be a different waypoint he'll send me to, to search for that ring, too.
Well, me being the clever guy i am, decided to take a shortcut. Only... it ended up being a dead end
Stuck with the npc on one side of the wall and me on the other. I knew that if i made my way around, that the NPC would despawn. This wasn't a good thing. Well, i thought i'd try to outsmart it by burst running in. No luck hehe.
Oh well, getting a little too frustrated now, i figure it's time to take some deep breaths and go do something less frustrating right now.
So off i went,in search of things to cut to pieces with my Lightsaber. Aah, the snap hiss, and low pitched hum, of that Saber as it ignites and swings through the air.
Had plenty of fun hacking and slashing away. Ended up earning about 6000 Jedi XP last night.
Then i glanced at the time. It was time to go. That was when i received the call to help a friend out with his Mellichae mission. Well, i did, but as i arrived at the spot, they just finished dropping Mell and completed the mission.
So this time i really did log out.
And i'm still tired now
1) The mindless hack n slash spree i went on.
and
2) Hearing my friend had beaten Mellichae and was about to join me on the path to Jedi Padawan.
More tomorrow, if i get time to log in tonight and play a little
I really really need to find a mission that works hehe.

Or something like that...?
It depends on whether it's just targeting him and conversing which is the problem, or if it's the fact that he's inside the building.

well, i'm not sure if he was a converse mission or an attack mission. However, i thank you for the tip on this and I'll be sure to try it if it happens again.
This was a fun day to log in.
First off, i decided to try and run one mission.
I was asked to retrieve a stolen ring for a gambler who had an uncanny knack for losing his bets hehe.
Upon arriving at the location of the rings last known spot it was laying in, i discovered a humanoid form there.
Ok, something's not right here. I spoke to this other humanoid, turns out he took the ring from the other guy because of some past debt issues.
Now what am i supposed to do? Well i end up having to fight the guy. Only everytime i went to attack by double clicking on him, i would converse with him again hehe.
After repeating the conversation multiple times, i finally decided to use the radial menu and attack.
I hoped i'd done the right thing on this one. I retrieved the ring from the guys cold, dead, hand and returned to the man who had "lost" this ring in the first place.
Success. Another passed mission. This is good. So far i've not failed one
An odd thought occured to me last night, it seems everytime i take a mission from the Talus Jedi shrine, it works fine. If i take it from other shrines, they don't work.
Possible bug? not sure. Will test my theory to see if it's repeatable.
Anyway, off i headed to Talus to meditate at the shrine there and get a new trial.
I was given the task of travelling to Tatooine. There I was to meet with an environmentalist whom was worried about some problem with a toxin that had spread from a group of falumpasets, to some sludge panthers, whom had eaten the infected falumpasets. I was asked to travel and put an end to these Sludge Panthers.
Okay, i thought. One tiny problem, that I could foresee getting in my way here. In my entire time of playing this game (beta 3 tester to current day), I've never seen a wild sludge panther and wouldn't know where on earth to find one.
Friends have had them as pets but i've never found a wild one.
A challenge awaits me, and i'm ready to take it up. I took this moment to go afk and smoke a ciggy so i could sit and think about all the previous months and months of gaming, and think about what i'd heard of sludge panthers. Talus or Rori. I knew they spawned on one of those two planets.
Gut feeling said Talus. Returning to my computer, I confirmed this shortly afterwards by asking someone in game. He wasn't too sure himself, but said Talus. So i took this as a good sign and travelled to Talus.
Another issue loomed ahead of me, like a giant brick wall with no way over, around, under or through. Where would I want to live if i were a Sludge Panther on this planet? The name makes me think of swampland. Is there even a swamp on Talus? hehe.
I'm not sure why, but i often find myself doing this kind of thing. Not sure if it will ever pay off.
I remember my first time hunting for Krayt Dragons alone in the Dune Sea. I spent hours searching for a glimpse of one, all those moons ago. Trying to prove they spawned outside of the Krayt graveyard. I never was successful on that one
Well, that's enough reminiscing. Sludge Panthers is what i need now. My next method of searching for them, not a pleasant one, but a necessary one
Start out from Dearic starport. Circle in ever increasing circles from the starport and hope to come across some as i find myself further into the wilderness.
Takes a while, but it's an effective way to hunt for something. I've got the patience to do it hehe.
After about 30 minutes i noticed something on my screen. I turned on the overhead map, and saw a lot of structures. But it didn't look like any player city to me. And wasn't showing up as one either on the planetary map.
Curious, i decided to investigate. As i approach, my pulse rate quickened. I spied something i had been searching for. There it was, a Sludge Panther. I was rather happy right at that moment. Blinded by what i saw, i steamed in and jumped off my bike. As i went in for the kill, Lightsaber igniting, the thing dropped dead right in front of me. "Nooooooooooooooooooo" I cried. Trying to puzzle out what had killed it, i noticed that the whole area was full of Sludge Panthers. Then i saw the blaster fire streaking out across the other side of the plaza type area I was standing in.
A lone rifleman was wiping out all the sludge panthers. Worst of all, he was afk, or at least, he didn't answer me.
Needless to say, i spent the next 10 minutes killing panthers. 20 of them to be exact.
*A note for those who've yet to do this:
Go to the Lost City of Durbin on Talus for this one. It's the surest way to get all 20 panthers killed in about 5-10 minutes.
The location for the lost city is in your POI tab of your Datapad.
Happy about completing the mission. I decided i'd done enough missions for the evening. I wanted to get some more Jedi xp. As i didn't want to have to grind the 20k xp out after i hit padawan. I'd rather have it beforehand so i could pick up Novice Lightsaber straight away.
So off i went, to get some more xp. I left the game last night with about 13000 Jedi xp. Tonight i should hopefully get to the end of my trials and have enough xp to learn novice sabers.
All in all, an enjoyable nights work.
Thanks for reading, will keep you posted with tonights antics

It depends on whether it's just targeting him and conversing which is the problem, or if it's the fact that he's inside the building.
If you can target theNPC with /target name, then you can hit the ~ (tilde) key to bring up a radial menu. I had a few NPC waypoints for Jabba's themepark spawn inside rocks, and this worked.
Regarding sludge panthers: If you're not familiar with the rifleman profession or the Lost City of Durbin, there's an exploit whereby an AFK rifleman can sit on a porch of one of the buildings and macro kill panthers all day, and they will not come up the stairs to attack him. Expect 3 or 4 AFK riflemen to be sitting on that porch with T21's no matter what time of the day or night you go. If you go in and try and kill the pantherswith a saber, keep in mind that while as an Initiateyou willnot get on the terms, you still generate visibility. Those riflemen will come back to haunt you if the minute you complete your trials, there's a bounty on your head.

So it's a cheap exploit that stops the panthers from attacking eh?
So if i was to pull a panther up there.... then feign death
I did wonder why the panthers weren't attacking him.
sounds like these riflemen need to be taught a lesson. As that's pretty damn poor.
Thanks for reporting this one.

It's been known for a long time, SOE is aware and has already said it's an exploit. But a fun thing to dowould be toaggro the panthers up the stairs hehe.
Good storytelling, btw Ragman, 5* for you. I'm enjoying your stories and your style of telling it, savouring the trials vicariously through your postsuntil such time asI can taste them myself -- swirling the brandy in the snifter, enjoying the bouquet and the delicate notes offoretold butas yet unseengaming goodness ...
Whew, I think I got carried away there LOL.

Well, i'm def. going to take a visit back to that lost village and see about getting those sad riflemen aggroed like they deserve. a little CSR ticket might help too.
Glad you like the thread, Not sure how much longer it'll go on as i think i'm almost done with the Padawan Trials.
However, i do have a little corner on the internet that i use to write journal entries about my time in game, but they're in character, rather than as me playing my character. Not had a lot of time to update it lately though, due to real life getting in the way (well, more, my preference to choose RL over the game hehe).
Need to spend some more time on it at some point, since i need to update a lot of things. If you want the url, pm me, or catch me in game, it's in my bio

It's coming....
Day 10 (Thursday March 3rd)
OK, wife asleep, kids asleep. What luck. A quiet evening. Perfect for getting some game time in.
Sit down and fire up SWG. Maybe i'll make Padawan tonight, but then again, I never complete my goals in this game in the time i try to. hehe.
Once i'm in, i head to the nearest Jedi Shrine. My trial took me to Naboo, the heart of the Empire in this section of the galaxy. Right into the gaping maw of the Imperials themselves, Theed.
Oh well, let's see how it goes. Worst that'll happen is i'll get scanned and fined, right?
Landing in Theed is never an enjoyable experience for me. I just plain don't like the place. Never have.
Off i trundled in the direction of the waypoint marker to meet with the actor who's problem i had to fix.
Turns out she'd managed to pull a Siegfried & Roy job as one of her big cats mauled her co star and then ran off. Great. Another hunt for big game. I like these
Grabbing my swoop bike, i leapt on, and headed in the direction given to me.
About 100m out from the waypoint location, i pulled up to stop. There was the cat alright. Big bugger too. I headed forwards, approaching the cat from behind, in the hope it mightn't notice me, hehe. Well, it seems it worked, as i got the drop on the cat. Smacked it a few times and then it decided to turn around. This thing was big. A quick battle followed by the cats death was good enough to satisfy me.
Returning to the woman who owned the now deceased parrot.. err cat, sorry
No i actually don't know how many i've done, so i couldn't tell you how many i had left, even if i wanted to. hehe. I've done enough, but not enough to complete yet.
Maybe tonight will be my last ones? hehe.
My next trial was to kill 20 Falumpasets. The ones that the Sludge Panthers had eaten yesterday lol. These Falumpasets were infected with some dangerous toxins. Sounds like they could've put this in a particular order and kept it there, but again, there's not always logic in the way games are structured
These things are by far the most tough things to find. I've managed to find a grand total of 2 gungan falumpasets, which i killed, but still need 18 more of the blasted things.
Anyone got some good places to find them? I'd appreciate it hehe.
After 2, i gave up for the night.
Other things accomplished...
Moved into a new player city on Tatooine. Nice spot. I'm happy hehe.
Earnt a little more Jedi xp.
Irony of this story, i had all this free time, and i was too tired to enjoy it hehe. I went to bed not long after i logged in.
Still half asleep here at work hehe. Maybe this weekend i'll get an early night hehe.
Will keep you posted. Sorry this one's so short, i really am exhausted.
