Has anyone played Soul Calibur2 i would like to see are Vibrorapier look something to the affect of Raphels Queens Guard. That sword is far from fruity.

I'm an aspiring fencer, and I'd like to see more midieval style swords. More like one-handed broadswords. Right now, I'm using the regular sword, even though I qualify for the gaderaffi stick and other more powerful weapons, just because I like the look. Or maybe the devs could create a better version of the same sword. Either one would please me.

  • What kind or style of weapons would you like to see Fencers use?

  • I like the current selection, though more options are always nice to see. I tend to like Japanese style blades IRL, so seeing something like a Wakizashi or a Tanto (Daito is two handed, even though Istill consider it fencing) would be nice.


    An electroblade sounds like a fantastic idea. Perhaps a "poison-tipped" blade as well (not an unusual fencer "dirty" tactic).


    I also think the "vibro" (and poison-tipped, electro) option should be available on all blades. Either as a power-up or as a crafting option.


  • Do you have ideas for how future certifications should be spread out?

  • I think the current scheme is fine. I think a stun-type skill as a head hit with the butt of the handle would be a nice add-on.


    Also access to advanced sword features, such as electro, poison & vibro, would only be accessible at higher levels.


  • What kind of HAM cost dispersal should a Fencer's weapon typically have?


  • A fencer should be able to weild a weapon in both hands. Even mix & match (a wakizashi in one hand and a rapier in the other). HAM costs would stack... as with wearing armor. Advanced features should also have increased HAM costs.


    Since fencers are generally fairly "cerebral" (especially inthe Asianarts), I think a form of TKA-style meditate (to heal and increase mind)should also be available to fencers.

    I do not believe that we should get a form of meditate. We are going for making Fencer distinct, not just like TKA.


    To sum it up for our correspondant Chaser, I believe that most of the players agree in having more sword weapons, and perhaps changing our 'main' weapon the graffi stick to a sword of some kind. Also we seem to agree that we need a Master cert, such as a Rapier or some sort of double wield.


    The most sensible way of implimenting a double wield (as forementioned) is creating one item with two images, and the avatar would have a sword in both hands. I think we should get a Katana/Wakasashi combination=)


    It'd be nice if that combo got the damage/speed/ham costs of a graffi stick, but thats just my opinion. Maybe AP1? After all, samurai were pretty well armoured! (did yah watch the Last Samurai?)

    Defeinetely no meditate. that makes no sense and is very distinctly trying to be like a tka.

    just so this is in keeping with the post... I agree with the statements that we need more swords, any kind of one handed sword would do at this point. oh and that double wield would be kickass!

    Hmm. I think the reason we're not getting what we want is mainly because we don't know what we want. Some just want updated stats and schematics, while others are asking for whole new weapon types. I think we need to imploy more structure to this. What will take the least ammount of time to fix, then move on to more elaborate ideas. Here is my idea;

    Step 1: Submit a long termproposal to the Devs

    Basically just tell them what we've composed so far. We want to add the Rantok schemaitics to the craftable weapons list, and we want adjusted HAM costs and adjusted speed. Although I would not reccomend it, you could put REALISTIC basics for the preferred cost changes. Then mention that in a more long term sence, we would like some new weapons designed for our Profession. So far, the majority would apt for some sort of Star Wars-ish raipier as a Masterweapon, as well as some Vibroswords or some such.


    Step 2: Begindrafting changes to the HAM and speed.

    Simple. Just start with the suggestedadjusted stats, then submit it to the Forum for deliberation and ideas. After a few weeks, write a summary and send it to the Devs. The adjustments will be up to them.


    Step 3: Continue this post with weapon ideas, but with more structure

    Continue this post with a little more discipline. We want new wepons,and the Raipier takes the cake for most requested. Lets work on that. What type of Raipier is it? Is it Vibro,Blaster tipped, armor piercing, none of the above or all of the above. Berealistic withthe requests. I could see the Vibroraipier, or the Blast Sword (Vibro raipier withblaster components in the tip) as plausable ideas.


    Step 4: Begin questioning about future Fencer skills

    Fencers are unique, but they could be even moreso. The system is being reworked as we speak,so adjusting the Fencer's combat skills may be a little post-mature. However, things change andwehave time to think out different abilities like the Duel weapon wielding and the system behind that.


    After that, wait for awhile and after a few more patches and advancementscompare the old notes to what has been done, andmove the list to the next most important item! Fencer is a powerful and fun profession and with structure, it may be enhanced.

  • The fencing element of Star Wars isn't as much European style "fencing" as asian style fencing. I'm happy with the current artwork in the game for our weapons. Just don't like the priority of them. I think the Gaffi baton is a disgusting weapon aesthetically. Just adjusting how the stats fall on the weapons could make things more acceptable. I'd like to see more fencers holding, straight swords, curved swords, and ryyk blades than stun batons and rusty cheerleader sticks.


    I wouldn't mind seeing the Gaffi be some type of AP2 weapon with modfied stats and maybe much higher HAM costs for the AP2 justification.


    I'd like to focus on the straight sword and curved though mostly although that's my prefence and can't speak for everyone.

  • It doesn't specifically matter how the certifications are spread out. They all seem to be obtained before really touching on the meat of fencer anyway. I don't know anyone that's just going to pickup 1 handed block 1 and 2...


    The ranktok certification is worthless, I think it should be a schematic that can be found like the 2 handed scythe. Otherwise, just make it a non equipabble weapon and remove the cert totally.

  • Fencing weapons should be light weapons with the exception of Ryyk and Gaffi which should probably have some type of AP so the lighter curved, straight and vibro weapons should have a light HAM cost and drain mostly from the action as we are supposed to be agile fighters using our speed and energy to fight. The Gaffi's and Ryyk's being heavier weaponry should drain a bit more from the the health pool. Maybe our fastest weapon, whatever it may be... Straight sword in my opinion would drain more from the mind as we have to be focused to weild it's speed.

    Please no foils. They're atrocious and I hate them.I dislike rapiers too, but foils are just terrible. I detest that form of fencing.


    I'd like to see a sabre of some sort. Not all fencing enjoy the overused foil and epee styles. Some of use actually like slashing and find it interesting...
