I kinda agree with Nikolai that Fencer should stay strictly 1 handed, according to the definition. However, we seriously need a new weapon for us blademasters. Unfortunately, seems like the devs have already designed the dual wielding for fencer. Oh well, I've seen zorro use two weapons before
. The only thing that will upset me is if they offer it at any other skill than blademaster. /accepttrade; /bow2

by 1h and 2h they mean the size of the weapon
2h being a big ass hammer for one ... 1h being something light and small

.....1h = 1 hand. 2h = 2 hand. I hope you were joking with that comment. 1h doesnt mean something light and small, you can wield a 6ft pole with one hand if you really wanted to.

Some other games have warriors duel weilding heavy swords. If they're going to keep it called "Fencer" duel weilding wouldn't work much. may as well call us Master Swordsman

And yes you can dual wield "two handed swords". Leonardo in the ninja turtles wielded "two handed" swords but he could also hold them akimbo (dual wield.) Same thing for Jedi, Anakin used two lightsabers, lightsabers he 100% of the time wielded with both hands. The problem with Fencer is that a fencer is fundamentally a onehanded duelist. I know this because my best friend IRL is on a fencing team, you only use one hand, the other is behind your back.
Fencing is also limited to lunges and slashes. Lunges if youre using a foil and slashes if youre using a sabre. But I definitely agree Fencers need more BLADES. Not batons and garbage like that.

I meant just in-game otherwise i would have said that LOL
They should just remove the Fencer name, I mean it does say Novice Swordsman where it should read Novice Fencer, why not just make it completely swordsman and change two-handed to heavy swordfighter or something.

HEH ok when i became fencer i was thinking, you know a "fencer", (the people with the white padding and the bumble bee face mask )you have very good defensive skills and you have a sword like the 3 musketeer's, hey even the trainer on kor vella ( static NPC Fencer Trainer ) he has swords like what i described...
but hey i am kool with it, we can have 2 sticks now!!!
/grin
i also /grin cause i am a master pistoleer =)

I don't think having this dual wield would be such a bad idea at all. I just hope that its only allowed for master fencers. And they will prolly not allow people to use specials while dual wielding, because then i could do over 4k dmg a second easily. It wouldn't be that bad though to have 2 swords and just using auto attack, wouldn't be that bad of dmg output.

Actualy there are fencing styles that use a dagger or parrying blade in the offhand. None that use 2 full blown swords though.

Nikolai_Xavierov wrote:Uhm, fencing is one-hand weapon fighting. Aka sabre and foil. You cant even use TWO hands let alone two weapons. Why are they bastardizing this class? It's bad enough you guys use batons and sticks as opposed to bladesIt's one thing if they cant follow continuity, its another if they can't follow simple english. It's even in their own system, notice all the 1h before all your specials. Kind of obvious dont you think?Only people who should get dual wield are swordsman and pistoleer. And bounty hunters..(pistols)
This really needs to be said...modern fencing uses 1 weapon and nothing more BUT there is plenty of historical evidence that fencers in the Renaissance period used a sword and dagger or 2 swords during combat. The fencer during that time period had plenty of choices for their off-hand. This ranged from using the off-hand to push the opponents sword away to using a buckler, cloak, or the 2 other forms that I have already mentioned.
Yes in a tournament setting today, the rules only allow for a single foil, epee, or sabre. But in a street battle/fight you can be sure that the use of a second weapon would be one of the choices available for a fencer.
Historically fencing is more than just a one-hand weapon fighting style.

Nikolai, to start off comparing SWG to ninja turtles is just dumb. Sorry for the rudeness but there's no polite way to say it. Comparing SWG to Ninja Turtles is stupid. Even if the comparison was a valid one, your assertion is flawed. The issue is weight. Leonardo used katana's which, if you haven't ever had the pleasure of using one, are VERY light weight. I doubt even the ninja turtles could duel weild claymores...
Your comparison to anakin is also flawed. For one, anakin is a jedi. Rules are different for them. For another, he was using light sabers which are also very light. They are after all LIGHT sabers... I challenge you to give energy weight.
Also, the fencing you speak of is a SPORT and nothing but a sport though it's roots are from actual fighting styles. Though the technique is sound for combat the rules of the SPORT have no relevence to combat.
