I understand those problems, I have another char who is a BH and has been since July, Ive been asked more questions then I like to think about, but I try not to jump down their throats if they ask me if BH is worth it, I tell them the facts and let them draw their own conclusions. Doesn't involve them skipping any work, just to help them better decide if they want to invest their time. Anyways thats all I hav eto say on that subject.

On a side not I have found Fencing so far rather fun, its so very different from the ranged classes, and I dont know just fun.

people work different ways. "working" for a goal doens't always mean abandoning all sources of information. in fact, gathering as much information before starting down the fencer path is more work. so in a sense, coming here first should be exactly what you proscribe, Seena.

i will freely admit that i dislike the holofencers if they're just going to drop it as soon as they get their next holocron. but i will always answer their questions without trying to make it appear that they are lazy or something similar. i will help those with more dedication more, and i feel that's fair. those who are gonna stick with it will probably get my spare swords and wrong slices since they will get the most use from them.

on the other hand, i can't say you're actually wrong. it's just your sentiment, and for a very few fencers, i share it. however the only thing i'm questioning (and i think the same goes for TheWeaponsmith) is your need to share a non-constructive opinion.

we're a fencing community, not an elitist subsect of SWG.

lol well Altair, we can't all be as 'civil' and good intentioned as you.

And as for sharing 'unconstructive' opinions - I have seen you share what I feel to be *very* unconstructive views - I don't however, begrudge you that right.

Kro,

I recommend you not go by what is powerful or weak this week, because with the next patch or the one after that thing could completely change and like will. For example at one time lunge + dizzy was killer, then for some time it would not work at all, now I beleave dizzy + lunge works good. In the game things will change and offten. I'm going for pistoleer/fencer and right now pistols kick butt so I'm work more on my pistol then fencing, after next patch I my focus on fencing or maybe scouting. who knows? just do what you find fun!

nope, i'm not perfect either. could you show me where i was unconstructive? not that i don't believe you, i know there have been a few. i try to limit my unconstructive posts to jokes and humorous falsehoods which i hope haven't been taken the wrong way. i can often be unclear and uncivil, certainly. no one advised me at the time, though. i would hope that if i did, someone would say something, just like TheWeaponsmith did. if it's not my intent but it's taken that way, i would never know unless someone said "Altair, quit being a jackass, or tell us what you really meant."

in fact, i may have been unclear in my previous post. i don't begrudge you the right to share your opinion at all. even if you were absolutely obnoxious you have every right. i simply feel that you, being an intelligent person, is capable of hearing what i have to say and not taking it as a personal attack. i do apologize for my apparent hypocrisy. you're right, we can't all be as 'civil' and good intentioned as i *would like* to be.

What purpose would that do? You are entitled to be as unconstructive as you wish. : )

ah, ok. well, if you ever feel like giving me a hand, i'd appreciate it. i guess this sounds like i'm being petty, but i truly would rather someone point out when i'm being unconstructive in a detrimental way. in fact i think most of our posts on the subject of constructive posts might be unconstructive.

in related news: tomorrow has left right field due to injury, and last week will now be taking over. who had a scuffle with what yesterday, but yesterday said what he thought of what, which only made someone cry.

Mind Buff? Is there such a thing?

The HAM use on my 1h curved is really not that bad though it all depends on which special Im using. Forgive me for not remembering the stats on it. I'm at work.

I'll stick to 1h Hit 1 simply because I can spam it 5 or 6 times and do twice the damage with the same minddrain as I would using Cho Mok or whatever a single time.I try not to use the big moves too much with the 1h curves whilewearing the armor. I mainly just stand there and let the generic moves do their thing once I've applied the bleeds. With the armor off, I can justspam and spamall day. My mind regen rate with the armor off is crazy fast and just removing the helm is enough that it will fill back up while attacking with the regular attacks. I'vemigrated health and action way down and put tons of points into mind to be able to wear composite and still do my moves. The armor soaks up almost everything. Since I'm also a master medic, health and action aren't really a concern anymore.

The Zabrak willpower is wicked stuff.Great for melee is all I can say.

Seems like the conversations in this thread are going two completely separate directions. That may be partly my fault. I love being a Blademaster and being able to do the things that I can do, to make the non-believers believe, that's what I love doing. When someone says it can't be done, I go find a way to do it. I'm tired of melee looking like some gimped class that has no place in the game. I'm more than willing to share what I've learned with others or explain the ways I do things so that others may try it and see for themselves if it's something they can use or not.

Yes, it's worth every second of it.

Rro,

Being a master dancer as well, I have administered a lot of mind buffs, but unfortunately cannot give one to myself. Coordinating dancer and doctor buffs is a major pain.

I did not intend to become a fencer originally, and did not choose Twi'lek with being a fighter in mind (started as a dancer/tailor). I would certainly have thought about Zabrak though because the equilibrium ability is pretty fab. I really would suggest that you give a gaffi stick a try. I get alot better results with that than with a curved with similar damage range just because of the distribution of HAM cost. I will grant that stylistically curved looks better.

I probably should share the blame for sidetracking the thread, but I was curious how you manage to wear composite, use special attacks (I assume you rely on your bleeds as well as lunge/dizzy), not use mind buffs and still manage to avoid chronic mind incaps, especially against nightsisters who seem to use mostly 2H attacks on the mind pool.

i'm a zabrak as well. i only have 700 in mind, but mind secondaries are maxed. i can't spam all day with a gaffi, but i want to try the curved like you do. i know it's possible because i've done similar things. but your strategy has piqued my curiosity further.

i *want* to use my curved 100% of the time, but the damage of my Gaffi is too enticing. i hate the graphic though. [sigh] moot point.

would you mind posting your exact stats sometime? i would greatly love to see your strategy in numbers. now that i know you use the Cho Mok and higher end stuff, i might see how you can spam all day. i tend to gamble more and use the expensive moves to take them down quicker and rely on my amazing stims to save me.

i'm fully with you (as i've stated elsewhere) on the issue of fencers being very formidable in a fight. i wish you were on my server, so i could see such things.

thanks for all the tips.

actually, i was unclear. i understood exactly what you were doing, i just made it seem like i didn't. using onehandhit1 5 or six times makes sense, instead of one Cho Mok (onehandhit3?)

my problem is my gaffi does a lot more damage. almost 400 more on specials. on normal attacks, the difference is negligible. but i love the curved sword so much more. i've decided i'm gonna drop the 90K for a full msuit of composite, and try your strategy, and then tear it apart until it works for my style.

my gaffi tops out at about 280 damage or so after a damage slice, i think. margin for error +30/-10. i'm also at work, hehe.

don't kill yourself tracking numbers for me, i think i've got the gist of what you do. they would help me get an idea of where i should be, though. it's actually very similar to what i do at times. i tend to get a little crazy and lay on the heavy hits, especially in groups where i'm fighting for xp. so i'm gonna try a little more laid back style, which is what yours seems to be.

keep in mind i'm not a master yet. 2-4-3-3, so i'm getting really close. thanks again for the suggestions.

oh yeah, in groups, when I needed the XP, you can bet I was spamming as many of the big hits as I could and then the group would have to sit and wait for the puller/tank's mind to heal. :-)

90K for a full suit? that's sweet! it's 210K here but I'm not complaining about a drop in the well. heh!

280 pts of damage with a gaderffi eh? whats that about 450 pts average with a normal attack? cause I'm guessing mine is about 300 averageon normal attacks with my 96-225 1h curved.

We've been over it before. It's a style thing. I'm a Fencer not a Tusken Raider but I will seek out a Gaderffi Stick tonight just to try one out. MaybeI can get the guild Armorsmith/Weaponsmith to whip me a couple up so I can go play the slicing game.
