KaliMirchi, where have you been, this forum is in need of your talented posts on people not knowing what they are talking about. You have a nack for hitting the nail on the coffin, please stay and bring life back to this forum...WE MISS YOU
Yanno, with the influx of Uber L33T dudes who want to bastardize Fencer into something it's not mean to be - I've lost a lot of interest.
It started when Ralph left...... She had such a "polite" way of "hitting the nail on the coffin" as you put it lol

Yes we all miss Raph, but there are still some of us old fencers still around. I could have sworn that you would have had a problem with the Master Fencer title thing or Swashbuckler for that matter. You still bring life back to the forums, I'm too much of a nice guy to let people know how I truely feel. I don't think Fury_Chaser would mind you letting people know how ya feel, I know I wouldn't, it was always a nice read, and usually made me laugh. I do have one question for ya, could you look at my "CoB Answers" thread and add any comments or suggestions to make it better, I would appriciate it. Anyway, it was nice to see you in good form in the post up there....brought back warm fuzzy feelings in my tummy.....

Everyone in this game is a hybrid. There is no single profession that takes all 250 skill points to master. I am a 4000 TKA | Master Fencer | 4340 Doctor. As you can see from that template Fencer is my only offensive combat skill set yet I can still mow through a fully buffed, fully armored (90% Kinetic, 43% Stun) opponent with my run of the mill stun baton (Damage sliced to 197 max damage) in about 45 seconds.
Any profession - *any* profession buffed can "mow". We aren't "mowers" - no matter how desperate you are to shove it down people's throats.
I could care less if people out there realize the power they weild as a fencer.Just keep in mind that a well preparedMaster Fencer can beat a 4444 Jedi Guardian in a buffed/armored duel. Name one other profession that can do such a thing.
You go ahead and tell people that fencer is a gimped class in PvP all you want, it doesn't change the fact that they are on the top of the melee ladder, albeit much to your chagrin.
I'm not sure what it is you have a problem with here. Do you really think that fencer is underpowered in PvP or are you upset that fencer does not play like you want it to in PvP anymore? We don't have to chip away a little bit at a time to win anymore. We intimidate, blind, dizzy, lunge, and beat the living crap out of them with scatter2. All the while they are cursing in spatial about not being able to hit us.
As for your "intimidating blinding dizzying and lunging" - if you're doing it that easy - your opponents suck and aren't making use of what's available. Foods add +95 to KD on our server-there'sfoods and BE clothing to make intimidate nearly impossible --- and the list goes on and on.
Yes, Thakitillo is a wonderful food to take when you are fighting a class with a KD move. Unless you are a master brawler though that does not apply to the fencer. 1 handed lunge is a posture down attack, not a knock down. It'll go ahead and bypass whatever anti-KD food you throw at it. The dizzy does the KD for us, not the lunge. As for intimidate, it's a bonus if it lands, but certainly not a tragedy if it doesn't. If the dizzy hits and they are on the ground, their mind will be all but destroyed by the time they get back up, Intimidated or not.
I'm proud of you for sticking with a profession since launch, but it sounds like you have a case of "I'm too old to retire" syndrome.
*You* who thinks Fencers are tanks is "proud" of me? LOLOLOL That's a good one. But I suggest you shove your condescending attitude up your ass.
Yes, fencers are tanks. As per the definition on the SWG glossary quoted below:
Tank
A player character that takes the brunt of attacks from an enemy for his or her party. Verb: To tank (tanking).

If you are unhappy with this profession, find one that makes you happy. If you are unhappy with this game, find one that makes you happy.
I hate to be the one to tell you this but if you can't win in PvP with fencer then you are doing something wrong, maybe you should try CM/Rifleman. All you are doing right now is spreading misinformation about the fencer class to the rest of the people reading these forums.
PS: A tank is something that can absorb the damage for an entire group while not inflicting much damage themselves.
I'll post whatever I wish. Whenever I wish. I do so with perspective and experience - something which, evidenced by your posts - you are seriously lacking.
You keep right on posting with your perspective and experience and I will keep correcting your errors. It'll work out well this way, we may even have fun.

You're claiming that a Fencer can beet a Jedi Guardian - and you're worried about *me* misleading the public? LOLOLOL Oh boy! You are one humorous individual. 'Course - maybe that jedi sucks as bad as the other people you duel.

If you're landing lunge 1 as often as you seem to be - again, you're fighting people who dont know what the hell they are doing. Smart ranged opponents will easily keep out of range of lunge 1. Which leaves us with lunge one and dizzy for melee and those rangedsuckers stupid enough to not to keep their distance. Anyone with any skills will not attempt to stand until the dizzy wears off. I guess, again - the people you duel aren't too bright.
Judicious use of Intimidate and Blind willwin a fight, those sorts of moves are how we were meant towin fights- unless of course your opponentrelies onbuffs and high resist armor. That's the key part you keep missing in *all* of this.

The developers who came up with these definitions had a very poor understanding of melee. In FACT - some of them were against putting melee into the game, if I recall correctly. We were an afterthought. Thatwas painfullyobvious at launch - (you know, that period of time which occured quite awhile ago as opposed to the amount of time you've been in the profession - a couple weeks is it?
So yanno how much validity that particular definition has? Jack and **edit**.
And iffin ya be all stubborn like and insist on going by THAT particular definition - Fencersdon't "take the brunt of attacks" - we survive because we are able to decrease our opponents accuracy (via those specials we aren't able to use like we used to) and AVOID the attacks.
You keep right on posting with your perspective and experience and I will keep correcting your errors. It'll work out well this way, we may even have fun.
So far - I've yet to see you correct a thing. Oh - the stun thing- I'll give ya that. But like I said - I've seen it advertised as such. And as I also said - I don't rely on armor to make me viable.
But your efforts are to be commended.

One day Kali, people like this noob will learn, I hate people that think because they wear 90% comp they are gods. Tataomm, just out of curiosity what made you become a fencer? Was it because you got beat up by one that knew how to fight? That didn't spam one hit to kill you? You sound like all the other fencers that started to come over to the fencer side because we are working and the other professions aren't. As far as the Jedi comment you had, any un-prepared combatant will lose to any well prepared combatant, always. It doesn't matter if they are a 4/4/4/4 guardian, that guardian didn't know how to fight if he lost. I have mastered this profession twice now(gave it up cause some meany in my head wanted to grind to jedi...I said forget that...
) and I know how to PvP. Do I complain when I lose...No...was the other guy better prepared then me....probably. Like I said before anyone can be beaten, it just takes the right stuff to do it.
Ruehs,
I became a fencer because I was tired of having 1 damage type (the most easily defended against) as a TKM. When I started TKM, they were feared in the PvP arena. When I left TKM they were a joke. I loved TKM for the 6 months that I played it, but there just comes a point where you get sick of seeing low 2 digit damage numbers above your opponents head while you have mid 3 digit damage numbers above yours. Just before I dropped TKM I had a duel with a fellow TKM that lasted 25 minutes because we both had insane armor and nice buffs. I finally won because his dancer buff expired. If TKM's had a stun damage type I would still be one. I really enjoyed it.
I picked up fencer because it fit the profile that I was looking for and, at the same time, suited my play style. I can deal the least defendable damage damage type and quite a bit of it. So far I love fencer, I will remain one until it is nerfed into uselessness. You are correct though, I like many others chose fencer because it isn't broken. Is there some problem with that? You may have been a fencer since the beginning of time and that's great, but I would suggest that you don't take it personally when other players drop their current professions to pick it up. People that PvP 24/7 in this game do whatever it takes to win. That means that you must pick and chose your professions for the ones that are working the best.
The concept of "Gods" in this game has always made me laugh. Some people play more than others. Some people have better equipment than others. Some people cleverly chose the best set of skills to combat a different set of skills. None of this makes someone a deity in my mind. I certainly wouldn't put myself in that class, nor would I put you.
As for the Jedi Guardian, I don't really know how they would lose to a standard issue elite profession. I find it hard to believe though that someone could put the time into becomming a 4444 Jedi Guardian without having a pretty good idea how to fight with it.
Call me a noob all you want if that makes you feel warm inside. I haven't been playing as long as you. If you're going to do it though, at least point out where what I have said is incorrect. Where have I given misinformation?

One day you will realise there is a game for you to play, and it won't be this one. This is a RPG game, not a FPS game. If you want to be like everyone else play a game where skill points don't mean anything. I belieave all of the 24/7 PvP'ers in this game have ruined it. It's people, like you, that want to be the best so you will do anything to be the best that have ruined it. You don't role-play, all you want to do is go kill people, go play FarCry or UT 2004, they were made for that, this game wasn't.
You're claiming that a Fencer can beet a Jedi Guardian - and you're worried about *me* misleading the public? LOLOLOL Oh boy! You are one humorous individual. 'Course - maybe that jedi sucks as bad as the other people you duel.
Go check out the jedi forums before you use up daily allotment of "LOLOLOLOLOL"'s on me.
If you're landing lunge 1 as often as you seem to be - again, you're fighting people who dont know what the hell they are doing.
Smart ranged opponents will easily keep out of range of lunge 1.
That's when we melee fighters go in doors, or behind wallsto force the close quarters battle. If they don't follow then we both live to fight another day.
Which leaves us with lunge one and dizzy for melee and those rangedsuckers stupid enough to not to keep their distance.
Those are my favorite kind.
Anyone with any skills will not attempt to stand until the dizzy wears off. I guess, again - the people you duel aren't too bright.
You're right, it's better for a melee fighter to stay on one knee, unable to fight back for 60 seconds, while I beat the crap out of him. Of course by the time the dizzy wears off my lunge timer has reset and I can use it on him all over again. Not to mention the kiters that have their finger firmly pressed on the up arror and didn't know they were hit with a posture change event until they are flat on their backs.
Judicious use of Intimidate and Blind willwin a fight, those sorts of moves are how we were meant towin fights
Meant to in who's estimation? Yours?
Blind and Intimidate are wonderful skills to have, I use them all the time in combination with my DoT weapons if I have a crowd to deal with.
unless of course your opponentrelies onbuffs and high resist armor. That's the key part you keep missing in *all* of this.
Who doesn't PvP with buffs and armor? You again? People who are serious about the PvP aspect of this game do NOT fight without buffs unless they absolutely have to. People will continue to buy the best buffs and the best armor until it is not available anymore. Trust me, I am looking forward to that day as much as you are. It will finally put the skill back into PvP.

Well once this game is produced by Kalli Online Entertainment you can define Tank to be whatever you like. Until then I think I'll stick with the official definition if it's all the same to you.

Which is why you aren't viable. The State of Fencer in PvP is just fine as long as you equip yourself to the same level as your opponents.

The thing of it is Kali doesn't have to. I remember posts upon posts from Kali whipping armored people's butts, while she was in clothes. One day you will learn my young apprentice.

Ruined it for you maybe, but I'm still having a blast. If you have issues with the game then voice them. If you have issues with how other people play the game then tough luck I guess. There are thousands of people online every day, I doubt you will be able to convince them all to play the way you want them to play.

IF a pure Fencer beat a Jedi Guardian - He was using insane buffs/armor and foods - AND the jedi sucked.
But - more likely, you should take your own advice and not believe everything you read.
That's when we melee fighters go in doors, or behind wallsto force the close quarters battle. If they don't follow then we both live to fight another day.
So - what you're saying is - you wont fight a battle you can't win. Now why doesn't that surprise me? Could it have anything to do with your next comment? You bet!

Once again I guess the dummies you fight just aren't taking advantage of these new BE foodswhich increase block/melee defense/ defense against dizzy.
Meant to in who's estimation? Yours?
Well you could do some actual homework about Fencing - ohhh ya - YOU get yourdefinitions from SWG... who added melee as an afterthought to attract the EQ crowd.
Blind and Intimidate are wonderful skills to have, I use them all the time in combination with my DoT weapons if I have a crowd to deal with.
See above.
Who doesn't PvP with buffs and armor? You again? People who are serious about the PvP aspect of this game do NOT fight without buffs unless they absolutely have to.
I use buffs or wear armorwhen I'm going to some large scale "event" in the CGW.
I don't rely on buffs or armorwhen I duel. I've fought one duel in which I purposely sought out buffs, and wore my set of PvParmor. I win against fully buffed and armored opponents all the time, and have lost *maybe* 6 or 8 duels in my career.
I do it because of tactics and support moves- the very support moves that are being shot to hell.
Well once this game is produced by Kalli Online Entertainment you can define Tank to be whatever you like. Until then I think I'll stick with the official definition if it's all the same to you.

LOL Tell that to the people who've issued challenge after challenge- only to be beaten - some of the best, if not THE best on the Flurry server, ranged AND melee.
(Ya see - I don't just fight when all the odds are in my favor)

If I am at a disadvantage, I will do whatever it is in my power to turn the tables. I will run into the nearest building if I am being kited. If he chooses to follow me then it is his corpse I will be bowing over in about 30 seconds. If he is smart and keeps his distance then I will be looking for a way to get the upper hand on him. These are tactics. I fight every battle that comes my way, just maybe not out in the open while I am being kited. You may use intimidate and blind to sway the fight in your direction. I use public buildings and dizzy/lunge. I did it effectively as a TKM and the same tactics apply as a fencer.
As I understand it, the point of this post was to say that fencer is not competitive in PvP. How can someone that loses as rarely as you say you do come up with that? If you can incap fully buffed/armored opponents while not being buffed yourself that's a pretty good endorsement for just how powerful fencer is in PvP. Is there something I am missing here? All this double talk has got me pretty damned confused.
Fencer is a GREAT class. It's fun and it owns in PvP. Now where did all those riflemen go, I have some revenge to serve.
