Thread: My Complaint On Fencer

Yeah, I'm getting a little frustrated with Fencer myself.

My unwillingness to lose my doctor skills is devastating in regards to the template and the ability to beat anyone one on one. Only the unprepared can be beaten by me solo. Thank god there's still some out there.

Combat revamp... Hmm

I've been a fencer for almsot 7months now, i know that isn't a long time compared to some people, but it is to me and it's take an almighty screw up to get me to leave this proffesion. i agree with minerunner and Drrty though and hate the template questions that used to clutter the board till teh stickies were placed(even then it took weeks to convince people to post in them)

I don't understand this post. I am a master doc, master fencer. I have plenty of dot weaps and food for duels. How does doc hurt you? All you need is Thak to keep you on your feet while you lay every state on the person and dots and switch to 1 hand hit 3 with a good stun baton. Its not fast but it usually works. I do have access to a master dancer/master muscian though. I am really curious on how you are getting beat most of the time.

Edit: You should be able to take every state off you especially intimidate and dizzy. With good armor and a pie with a cob macro swordsmen have a really hard time hitting you as do pikemen. TKA can only KD dizzy you but you take that away with a good set of armor against kinetic and they are usually pretty easy. I battled a tka doc without using thak and it was a tough fight cause I spent it on my back most of the time. With thak though it was pretty easy.

ya know, i was thinking about what minerunner said (dunno why it took me this long to repost on this topic) and i have to admit at first i was kinda mad at the guy with what he said, it made it feel like a "i don't care about you all" comment.

However, after I reflected on his words and the profession as a whole... I agree with him and understand where he is comming from. The Fencer prof is, as i see it, more of a 'dabble' prof than almost any other combat prof. Essentially he's saying "If your here for the bonuses of the Fencer and not for the prof as a whole then you will likely find a new prof to dabble in that will suit your game play better." now i could be mistaken and perhaps alot of you saw his post as that in the first place but I feel that he grows tired of all the 'template' threads in this forum (who can blame him i do too)

Not sure if thats what he was getting at and i'm not trying to put words in his mouth at all, infact please correct me if i'm wrong. Anyways thats where i see it and how it stands.

fencer = pvp, No one can damage anyone in pvp any more it is pure gank squad because most would be sitting there for hrs trying to kill eachother. Fencer is no exception. They need to change pvp as a whole not just one profession. This is how things get overpowered then nerfed to heck.

(at least on my server i assume it is the same everywhere else)

Im comfortable where fencer is now.

You cant have everything u want, fencer lacks offense, thats what the devs intended, just like how swordsman lacks PvP ability.

the revamp will do nothing to make me wanna change my prof. Ive been a fencer for a year damn1t.

Fencer is a great profession, however it can be next to useless in PVP alongside TKM when it comes to a smart opponment that eats 40%+ synthsteak and high protection armor+PSG, there really isn't much you can do about it except wear off his PSG and synthsteak and keep him intimidated, stunned (if you have another prof with that state attack) and blinded as well as dizzy then when he's on his back you should be OK.

Your complaint is valid and I felt fencer was terrible when I got master fencer, I only have a 146-202 ackley stun baton to rely on so I use my 202-311 gaffi more often. Having a secondary profession like rifleman helps against those melee mitigation guys and vice versa as fencer is hilariously good against rifleman, commando and BH.

At least you're not one of those guys complaining about how they "nerfed" scatterhit/scattershot.

In melee he is right. Its hard for any profession to do a lot of damage. I had master sword.. With doc it rocked in pve but I couldnt hit anything in pvp. I believe people will be dissapointed if they think sword does a lot more damage in pvp. We need the combat rebalance..

BTW, I wonder why I got one starred... some people I guess..

I thought the Professions Forums where for questions about Templates. Maybe, just because some of you guys know all there is to know about templates and fencer you think that everyone should. Have you ever posted in a sticky? You dont get any responce to your questions 90% of the time. It just a bunch of unanswered questions. Maybe we should lay off the newer people to this profession forum.

Anyway, In my limited experiance Fencer is a great Profession. There are problems but if you think this is bad, try mastering pistols. Take a look through all the profession forums and you will see that everyone of them has the same Posts about the stuff that doesnt work and the stuff that could be better etc. The rebalance will be cool. It will be like getting a new game but, if you think there will be no more posts about what is wrong and what is broken then I think you going to be suprised.

To be honest I like the Profession system we have now. Dabbling gives you a real feeling of ownership (too me anyway). It does need some balancing but its not so bad. Im just hoping that we dont get handed a new version that is totaly out of wack and differnt from what we have. As soon as they give us some more info maybe I will rest a little easier, but right now im a little nervious.

Does anyone really know how extensive the revamp is going to be?
