Thread: My Complaint On Fencer
The fact is that mitigation + toughness + armor + PSG + intimidate + synthsteak is just too many layers of defense (that neglects the effects of high dodge/block/counter rate). This effects ALL professions, so bumping up the effectiveness of stun batons will not help the situation.
Basically, right now there are only a few scenarios where I high dmg weapon is preferable to a DOT:
1) vs. Jedi
2) melee vs. ranged....you really carve them up when they don't have mitigation, toughness, and the ability to intimidate (even though any ranged player worth his salt will have novice brawler)
3) vs. noobs with inadequate equipment.....no PSG = fencers and riflemen kick your ass, low base % helm = swordsman and TK kick your ass, etc.
4) gangbang....you and 10 others focus fire on 1 person
5) war of attrition....break all the PSGs he has out of the crate and run out his synthsteak, then you'll finally be able to hurt him faster than he can heal.
It sucks, and that's why I only play JTL now.

i disagree. for gameplay balance sake i'd say its an 'Either/Or' situation. Giving both would just be far too powerful.
Also i'd be happy if the min damage on the blade weapons we have was raised a bit too.
Fencer does have a ap1 weapon!

And I'm willing to bet half of you won't stay Fencers after the revamp, finding more of what you want in other professions.
No I will not expound on why. I can't.
No I will not explain where you would go. I won't.
No I won't tell you when you will find out more. I don't know.
I do have to say that the changes comeing up will be awesome, so awesome that you will have to completely relearn how to play this game.
Everyone will be a newbie after the revamp. Some might just have more money and stuff than others.

I have been a fencer for a long time, beta infact, I was a Fencer/TKA/Medic there, and I've always been. My template hasn't really changed, and neither has the simple fact that yea, while its nice were hard to hit, we are very very far from untouchable. Once stunned rifleman hit us basically every 3/4 shots, and yea, that is alot at the speed a Master Rifleman fires at. The -only- Melee profession that can't hit us is pikeman once their blind, and thats just because pikeman is broken. Jedi Master Lightsabers never miss me I'll tell you that. And I've got maxed melee, +22 in dodge SEAs, and various other goodies. 53% Dodge Pikatta Pie for instance.
Excuse me, I don't mind dealing no damage, but when I have a solid base of a trade off for it.
Maybe you can't elaborate why this or that is happening, but don't blame us for our lack of faith, knowledge, or otherwise, of Sony Online Entertainments "Combat Revamp".
Not to say that I don't want you all to stay Fencers, not that Fencers won't have a flock of people comeing in from other professions because of the cool stuff we are getting... just saying the professions are gonna change... and with that the play styles of people will either change with them or move to where they fit better.
I know I can't go into detail and that's gonna annoy some of you, it annoys me to no end that the information isn't out for you guys yet.
I know many of you have lost "faith" and given the tone of this board we have probably the most number of people who have just kinda accepted that nothing will change. I'm not saying this is a good thing all I'm saying is that I've "seen the light" as it were and I'm really excited for when you guys get to as well.
All I can hope is that when I say "trust me it's getting dealt with" or "belive me it's going to be nothing like you know now" that you actually do trust me.

Again, Fencers are made to outlast, not out damage.

There are other ways of defineing Fencers than this. I'd keep an open mind on this.
