Im here for the looks, Im here for the style

==================================

Me too, which is why I'm so interested in variations on offensive and defensive animations. Probably never happen. I can always dream, though, right?

And weilding two weapons should not increase damage. In most instances the second weapon is used defensively. Your dominant (more powerful) hand holds the offensive weapon.

that's what i'm thinking. have your sword and a short sword, the short sword assists defenses (parry) and would probably only be used offensively in specials, which would take higher ham costs

I also think that the second weapon should be used only for defence, u suggest sai or kama style of weapon. I also think that the certificate and also the ability of dual wield should be made available at third or fourth level of "stances and grips" tree. It shouldn't cause additional damage when attacking. Maybe it should work like armor, and have a high decay rate when being hit or something.

And please give us a bladed wepon withsimilar statsas a gaffi.

My 2 cents...

this is something as i see can be given to a fencer, and a good idea.

now im going to generalize some, but i compare fencing to the other games of thrust type weapons, although fencing weapons in this game and in real life can be used as slashing weapons.

When i think of thrust i think of the little back stabers from EQ or the assassins in daoc. I could see the fencer getting an off hand dagger of somesort with limited range, that can be fired automaticly as a defensive passive ability, or an added damage bonus to a styled hit, if its within a certian range.

i like the idea of duel weld anyways.

Um, no. A one handed weapon is one that doesn't require TWO hands to wield.

That frees your other hand up for any number of complimentary weapons.

i would like to duel wield but i really dont feel like being any more defnsive than i already am. My problemas a fencer is damage i cannot hurt anything i bleeds take to long. I would rather be able to do double the damage and not be able to dodge.

Instead of adding new effects, why don't we go after a new weapon with high output damage than the Vibroblade, which has AP1. Each brawling profession has a Medium to Heavy AP weapon with the exception of TKA, for obvious reasons, and us brawlers are stuck with a Vibroblade that has AP1 but the damage on it is too low. Either add a new weapon with AP1 that can go up to 300 damage or modify the Vibroblade so that it can be useful in PvP.

to the many who said it will never happen, Devs even early on in the game ( not too long ago ) saiddual weildingis something they want to implement into the game.

To the people who say we need just a more powerful weapon: Why do you want to make Fencer just like every other melee proffesion with the exception of the way the weapons look and the look of the special move? The reason or one of the reasons why they are rebalancing ALL of the combat proffesions is because they are all pretty much the same. While balance is a good thing, too much of the same thingis just that redundant and boring.

Dual weilding is something more than likely will be brought into the game, the questin is how willitbe balanced?

Also this isnt a disscussion of only what i said but bring your ideas here as well for discussion tokeep raphs thead clean ( somewhat )

Swiftblade of Zek

EQ blade design that resembles an arabic knife or sword with a forward curve. That blade would look sweet in a thigh holster.

Dual wielding in actual practice has a lot of subtlety to it that I'm not sure can be captured in a game. Some argue that it reduces defensive ability but increases offensive power, the ability to deal twice the damage. Others will argue that it reduces damage and accuracy, but increases defensive ability because it allows the secondary weapon to trap or parry an attack. The techniques vary throughout the world, and even vary drastically within specific regions, and the ideas about defense/offense vary as well (just as they do between single- or two-handed weapons)

An example: In games where players have requested dual wielding, players often cite two-sword techniques in Japanese swordsmanship. Some would describe it as a defensive technique, although this downplays the fact that the Japanese sword techniques are very strong on following up a small move or counter with a big cut, and that the second sword is mainly used to create the right timing to land a more destructive hit from the primary weapon. I personally think it's neither more defensive nor more offensive. I think the real reason some Japanese fighters were successful with two swords was because it was rare, and it's difficult to fight against a style you don't see every day. And I don't think anybody who fights poorly with one sword becomes a genius when he's holding two.

"Real-world" comparisons are not always helpful in the context of a game universe with its own fighting styles and its own physics. But it's becoming clear in this community that examples from history are influencing what people would like to see in the game, so I think in this case it would be good to talk it over, so we know what the player base would expect from a feature like this. I know a lot of people would like to see this done visually—I agree it could be fun to see. But if some people are expecting big defense, and some are expecting big offense, someone is bound to get disappointed.
