Thread: Which issues have been addressed.
where did you find out about this? my god....
this is the greatest news i have heard...ever...+76 melee defense!?! HOLY SH!T!!!
I plan on being a master TKA/Fencer/Pikeman.....if they also get +50 to melee and ranged defense....my melee defense will be.....umm let me think.....225, and ranged would be 200....oh if they are leaving the same system in....we are going to be so over powered....
i have +40 melee and +35 ranged defense and i get missed a good 1/3 of the time as it is......TEE HEE!
so many good things...
must find out what is happening to pikeman....
This may be a touch off topic, but I was wondering if anyone who plays in the test center canexplain me...
Exactly how these changes, for Fencers and other brawlers as well, will work...
What I mean to say is that I spent a lot of time going through different brawler proffesions picking out the skills that I need (mainly defensive skills). So I'm wondering if anyone could say whether the additional skill bonuses are scattered throughout different skills, or are they generally kept within the same skill box (or skill tree) that other similar skill bonuses are kept? (ieare all additional melee defense bonuses placed in the skill tree current melee defense bonuses are kept? etc.) Hopefully you can understand...
all the changes are in the original box's.
IE instead of +20 kd defence at footwork four we get +30 ect. So all the mods are in the same place, just the number was made bigger.

Bein' a fencer, I'm happy to hear of these defensive improvements. Frankly I just wanna see the Ryck sword be the coolest possible weapon for us fencers. I hate carryin' around the girly gaderiffi baton that does more damgge than the sliced Rantok i've got. Or put in a new sword and lose the bloody batons altogether. When I chose fencer I was choosing swordplay. Not baton twirling.
"Girly gaderiffi baton"? hehehehehe I kinda think the same about a foil...... ![]()

Sweet Fencer Lovin' Devs! wo0T!
Ok ,I dont know about you guys but I am still getting the occasional "This attack cannot be performed because the target is out of range"messages. It only seems to happen when dueling in starports or other crowded areas like the Holocron Hotel (Imp Base) on Naboo. It always seems to happen when I'm standing over a knocked down opponent. No sir. Dont like it.
I get that, too. I think it has something to do with the server and client trying to negotiate exactly where the opponent fell down. One said the opponent was still running while the other said they dropped. It often takes 2-3 seconds before they agree what's going on. The graphical representation of this sometimes manifests this as the prone target sliding around on the ground.
Yes, the devs are aware of the issue and are trying to track down what's causing it.
Edited for typos.

This post's very useful to me, since I've been away from Galaxies for two or three months.
It sounds like there's been a bit of a philosophy shift vis a vis melee fighters--the developers are making an effort to make them competitive with ranged weapons users, something they initially didn't want to do. I gueeeeesss I'm happy about that, since I'm a stabbity fellow myself, though at the same time I feel bad that they've had to move away from their initial plan for the game's feel.
But am I even correct about that shift in philosophy?
The only person that exhibited that philosophy was Mr. Koster. It was not a univiersal opinion shared by all of the developers. Most of the developers have accepted the concept that if they inteneded to keep the player base that preferred melee-professions from joining "the great exodus" to the other up-and-coming MMORPGs, they would have to invest a reasonable amount of energy in those professions, too.
The developers currently working with us Correspondents have been very accomodating, for the most part. They won't just throw you any old bone you ask for though. You have to be able to thoroughly prove anything you claim before it turns anyone's head. It's quite a task. However, once you are able to prove your issues stand on solid ground, they seem to put forth an honest effort to work things out. They can't attack every issue simultaneously, so sometimes certain issues are addressed before others... and even the order in which that occurs can be baffling... but they have convinced me that they genuinely DO care about us. ![]()
I feel i must extend on the baton and sword thing. Why is it that I can get a Ryyk blade cert at one handed 3 and then the rantok sword at one handed 4 but
1. Nobody that i have found (and i have asked alot of master weaponsmiths)can craft a rantok sword
2. Even the rantok swords found arent even half the weapon the standard ryyk blades are. Seems to me that if it requires a higher level to cert it should be a better weapon.
