Thread: The final Weapon for a Fencer. Should it be changed?
Since when is a Cutlass a Fencing weapon? A cutlass is a short, wide bladed sword often used by pirates because it can be swung around in confined spaces....
I think they ought to at least make the Rantok craftable. Compare it's stats with the other NPC grade sword stats, and it would be potent.
Stun Batons are not worth a whole lot, no armor resists stun, but Composite armor has a light rating, and Vibro blades have light AP, so, as far as I can tell, it is less effective than the stats say.... But say they are resisting half your damage, what is the point of switching to a weapon that they have 0 resist to, but does half the damage of your original, and has more HAM cost? Only time I have ever done more damage with a Stun Baton was against someone with some really buffed up Adv Ubese, and it wasn't that big a difference...
I have to say that after getting to novice fencer that ALL the weapons for this class suck. I mean, c'mon, I miss more with all the 1-hand weapons than I ever did with a power hammer or a long vibro-axe, and the damage is pathetic compared to the other melee classes. I'm trying to force myself up the tree as a seconday class for the defensive gains but getting xpseems reallypainful compared to any other combat class - and i'vedabbled in themallexcept carbineer so far.
I am all for rapier and/or sabers. Vibro versions should be included into the actual profession of fencer, and the more archaic version in brawler.
A cutllass would be nice for those playing smugglers as well. ![]()
Hmmm Vibro Sword would be most suggestable... Just make it a one handed version of the 2Handed Cleaver Graphic.... give it.. AP 1, and Gad Bat Stats.
Simple Generic and very little work for the art department... they just scale and adjust one graphic, Coders only need to fill in a new set of componant checks for crafting... but this has got to be down to just a DB entry screen fill in the blanks by now. And cut and paste Experimentation logarithm from GadBat.
Bet you 100 creds it would take 2 people all of 30 minutes each, then it would go into testing for a week and because the Gad Bat code is really solid it would get to us by the new year.
COME ON DEVS SKIP A LUNCH BREAK AND MAKE THIS HAPPEN. =)
One of my accounts is a master armorsmith.
There is a Stun layer that can be added to Tantel, Ubese, Padded, or composite armor. Most players that ask me about armor want their armor maxxed out for kinetic or acid. Very few follow my advice and settle for lower but broader protection. Stun layers have been rare on Wanderhome because they require Crism Siliclastic Ore which only recently appeared for the first time in about 90 days.
A friend of mine showed me something I was totally amazed by. She got all 9 stats buffed, put on a suit of composite that had 80% vs kinetic. Then she went out and Tanked a Kimogila lair by herself using a power hammer. Heck I got killed once just trying to watch. She tried that against some Dark Troopers using stun batons and she didn't last long...
Fencer = ALL ONE HANDED WEAPONS (except nucklers).
I'd much rather swap damage on curved sword with the pimp schtick.
But I really think people need to get the idea of an actual foil fencer out of their heads. Fencer is master of all one handed weapons. Swordsmen are masters of all weapons heavy enough to require two hands to physically wield.
Sooo onehanded...
gopher chukes, katanas, dagger, electro whip, tomahawk, Kama, cutlas...
and yes... for the love of pete.... DUAL WIELD!!! Of all the professions, one handed experts should get bonuses for dual wielding some items....

I would like to see the curved sword go to light armor piercing.
And like I said yesterday, the only purpose for the design of a weapon like the gaderiffi was to pierce armor helmets or breastplates with the spikeand deliver a massive kinetic shock wound (stun)... often times crushing the skull and causing fatal brain damage. In this game, it neither stuns nor pierces armor... it just does good kinetic damage.
