Well, I guess I can't offer you much comfort other than that I'll be dancing on your buffbots' graves 100% live and ATK! (Your comfort should be taken in how bored I must be having to dance on graves while At the Keyboard.) Oh, and since I don't thinkanyone has chimed in with ityet... Bye, sweetcheeks!

Huh, guess I can close two of my accounts then. Of course, this will bring about a flurry of active and readily available entertainers everywhere, as well as make those tedious crafting professions a -lot- easier.
Huzzah! I hope this makes crafting non-macroable as well, that would be great! Just that thought has made my day even better!
(Oh, and btw, the crafting professions aren't all that tedious. They can be a whole heck-a-lotta fun!)
Let me take a stab at some numbers here, lets say that each server has 15,000 active players, I would imagine that perhaps 150 of those are characters who play fulltime entertainers. Rightly so, we need to make life a lot more difficult for the remaining 14,850 people.

I don't think I can put into words my feelings were I to find Briah's candle burning in the Shrine. When that day comes, I think that it should burn alone in the center of the stage. I'll bring the flowers.

If you' read my post you'd see I was taking about buff not healing. (TKM here).
When I have BF I always get a novice to get rid of it and tip them well.
And also again if you read my post I stated when there are no ATK players about!!!
I will always use a entertainer who is there given the option.
My combat alt is a TKM and since I refuse to use buffbots, sometimes I can't find an entertainer to give me a mind buff. I get by just fine on a few sips of brandy and a canape in those cases. Finding an entertainer is not the *only* option for a mind buff. Yes, using food is expensive, but that should show how valuable an entertainer buff really should be!
I used to be a master dancer (no not a hologrind dancer) and loved it until I finally got fed up. You just can't compete with a buffbot who is effectively giving out free buffs to everyone. Even when I could get someone to come to me, they expected free service because apparently an entertainer's time is simply not worth anything. Its also really boring being one of the only live people in a cantina. Remove all of the "tips are appreciated", "please heal me" and "Add me to the entertainer group" spamming and the silence is deafening. The entire system needs to be fixed. Getting rid of AFK macros is one part of the solution. It will also take coming up with a way of making people understand that services and the use of our time is no less valuable than thing that use "resources".

I do have to disagree on the notion that as a developer you should do nothing between now and our profession revamp. My personal opinion would be to simply remove entertainer buffs for the time being. Then there would be no PVP players impacted as none of them would be able to get buffs, and would still be on equal ground with eachother. I imagine there are entertainers that would disagree with that, but as a personal opinion i would much rather not be able to buff than have to deal with these buffbots for another six months while i wait. I think it would provide a situation where many entertainers did not mind waiting it out so much and might continue to subscribe.
It is something you guys did with battlefields.. they were not working well so they were just disabled. It seems like a logical idea to me.

I think that unattended macroing doesn't belong in our game and it will be removed. I have committed usto this, and I remain committed to it. When morepeople play AFK than ATK, we haven't done our job very well, and we need to fix that.

Let me take a stab at an answer to your remarks.....
If we didn't have the ability to AFK macro the entertainer professions, there would be a lot more right now because when you have a need, it tends to fix itself. Removing the AFK macroing ability will create a vacum of need and more people will start playing entertainers, first because of need, then just because people will like being mind healers.

"Far too long have we felt like our cries have fallen on deaf or indifferent ears. In the last few hours, you've restored my hope for the future. Not enough to get me back into the game , but certainly enough to keep monitoring the changes knowing that I will play again."
I second those sentiments. Last night I decided that I would quit this game for good. Today, because of SOETyrant's posts I'm reconsidering that decision. I'm still quitting, but I too will keep tabs on the development schedule so that I can resurrect my account when the time comes. I won't keep paying my monthly $15 now because I still do not have faith that what has been written is more than what other developers have written, but the spirit in which it was written is clearly different and leaves room for hope.I'm going to go against my better judgement and give thisgame one more chance because for once I have faith in what a developer has written, because for once I feel thata developer has told us the unadorned truth, and I get a distinct feeling that this guy actually cares about this game and my profession.
