Crossbreed...If I may ask, what servers you play on and what character names? because honestly, you would be the first person I would ever WANT to deny services to. You honestly go around preaching that because we stay int he cantina we shouldnt get some rewards??? or minimal rewards? That's about as obtuse as you can get!!! Yes I dance all day when I play and so do alot of the other dancers, but that is no reason to look down on us or treat us like common street trash and go about your business. Because while your entertainer can heal its own BF, I wonder if any of your other characters can. If so, I hope you enjoy having those skill points taken up by something that you obviously feel is a frivolous waste of time.
I honestly hope I never run into you on the server I play because you are A) a small minded individual and B) extremely unappreciative.
Fair enough, but look at it this way: You can be replaced with 15 skill points. The class is not about power-gaming, it's about being social and having fun! Your class is the least chosen throughout the game, and is at bestof peripheral interest to the rest of the game's community.

Oh, if I may...why do you dance all day? I'm curious. Is it because you want to make a lot of money?

Actually, I've seen a large number of entertainers, particularly when compared to brawlers (melee combat is almost pointless in this game, particularly in PVP) and medics. Again I wonder how often, or even if, you play this game.
SWG home page has a poll which puts entertainers as less than 2% of the population. My evidence comes from a poll, yours is merely anecdotal.

Whether or not money is her primary goal is irrelevant. Artists paint for the love of art, but they still have the right to compensation for their skills. In real life, dancers don't just entertain you for free. Neither to musicians, unless we're talking about the quasi-hobos who play in subway stations.
You don't dance all day and thus are not qualified to answer my question. I already know exactly what you are.
I want to know WHY a person would choose to play SWG as only an entertainer.

Internet polls are not a valid source of such information. Only a fraction of the population actually visits the main website, and only a fraction of those who visit the website will vote in the poll. And even among those who vote, many will have multiple characters, making the results of the poll even less accurate. Might I suggest you take an elementary statistics course? It would do wonders for you.
Anecdotal evidence is even lower than a poll. My point is, I have more evidence to my point than you do.
And it has finally surfaced in this thread that the real reason so many people want /deny is because of money... which we all knew was the case to begin with only no one would admit it (and they will probably deny it now, good thing you can't edit posts though).
It sounds like some of you are under the dillusion that entertainment is supposed to be lucrative in some way, but it's not inherently so. Also, some of you keep forgetting that there is such a thing as player houses (i.e., player cantinas) - where you are allowed to charge a cover fee, or kick people out if they continually don't tip you. Go for it, start your own cantina and charge people just for walking in the door... see how much you make if the extent of the entertainment they get for walking in the door if you playing your kloo horn after in the middle of the room... that is essentially what so many of you expect to be paid for in the cantinas. Even if you aren't afk, hardly anyone (particularly those that complain about tips) greets people on the way in the door anymore, and even fewer carry a conversation past "hello".
"But doctors can make people pay them, and choose where their healing goes!" Yea, and if a doctor starts "charging" for his services, then the other 17 doctors in the medical center will gladly take on those players for free.
You aren't entitled to money just for being an entertainer, and the fact that there is a "tip" command and not a "make payment to the entertainer" command should make it clear where the developers wanted you to get money from.
Now, if entertainers are to remain as they are, living from scraps tossed to them, then their class should reflect that. Remove the mind and battle fatigue healing, and just let them dance or play music. If they are really supposed to be a class that offers something to the game, then let them be rewarded for it. The current design of the profession is illogical. And all of the suggested solutions involving delivery missions or player cantinas are useless. Player cantinas will never turn a decent profit, and delivery missions are both mind-numbingly dull (ever wonder why you've never seen a "Sim Mailman" game?) and provide no xp for anyone.
CantinaFly, if you want to be like every other class, then why don't you petition for them to improve gig mission pay... missions are, after all, how most everyone else makes their money, including doctors. Or you can sell instruments- they make a great supplemental source of income. Tips, however, are just that... and they aren't intended to make us rich and powerful.
