Note to self: When you open your own cantina, try to have two rooms...one for the lapdancers and one for the people who don't go in for that sort of thing.

I'm assuming this "nekkid dancin'" means in their underwear? Or is this a bug? If the former, I've seen the upper level dancer's clothes. They're MUCH more revealing.

As for the lapdances...since there's no code for this, the only thing I can think of is that these people are /tell'ing to each other? or are they spamming the whole room with
[name] slides her toasty brown buttered skin acrosss...

Ok, I can't take that serious enough to even type a parody of it...but you get the idea. Tell me that at least it's done without the spam?

Entertaining in your underwear is silly when you can get clothing that boosts your entertainment healing skill.

I got a jacket and pants that each add +1 to entertainment healing. They were 500 creds each. You can make that kind of money in a few minutes. I'm not knockin' ya for dancing in your skivvies though, don't mind it myself, just pointing out that you could be a better entertainer with the right garb. I don't remember the persons name who made the clothes for me, but if you're on bloodfin I can check when I'm in the game and email you. Heck, I'll even cover the bill for ya if you're that short on cash

Clothing that adds to healing is kind of a waste of money, assuming you are paying extra for it. Have you watched someone that comes a cantina full of entertainers heal? It is FAST. I'd like to see the curve changed a little bit so people stay longer.

Here's something else that I have found tacky.

Every single daythat I have been dancing in a Cantina, there is this guy who comes in and will shout "Someone tip me 50 and I will dance for you."

Most of the time everyone ignores him.

Now this guy has suddenly decided he wants to be a medic. So, while we are dancing he will heal us and then tell us to tip him for the heals.

Most of us ignore him, but some of the newer dancers will tip him.

It puts me off becuase i never asked for him to heal me. There are many times during theday where people will come in and heal us for free so that they get XP.In fact I just started learning medic and I have been healing my fellow dancers for free.

Just thought I'd add a couple of my own thoughts here...

When people are being overly rude or obnoxious in a cantina and haven't listened to requests to stop being abusive I ask the band and dancers to stop. Nothing will get the other customers more fired up about helping you out than having to wait longer because one guy's being a jackass. On the other hand though, several times I've run into people that are perceived to be rude "players" when they were really just roleplaying a rude person. It's a fine line I know, but it can be dealt with. Typically those that are just roleplaying will emote thoughts to let you know that they are indeed roleplaying while abusive players will just yell in spatial.

As for getting harassed because I'm a male and a dancer...well, I don't really have that problem. Not sure if that's good or not. It's the great thingabout playing a nonhuman character that wears a robe! No one can tell if I'm male or not so people just assume and leave me alone.

Also, forgot to mention, the problem with entertainers is hallf of those people are WILLING to give a private dance of a lapdance or cyber sex or whatever. It's just totally not necessary. Thefemale dancing naked always gets the tips, whilst the rest of us get screwed.

Not always true. I typically look for the most advanced peformers so I can heal more quickly and get back out to battle.

Last nite (Bria), in Theed, there was a (fully clothed) female Twi'lek who was doing some very slow hula type of dance. Right next to her was the run of the mill hootchie rolling around on the floor. I decided to watch the slow hula dance as it was something different. It was nice to see someone taking a chance, providing options. It did irritate me when the hootchie chick started dancing on me anyway, obstructing my view. I just moved to a different location to watch the hula.

I ended up watching longer than it took to heal my BF (and yes, I tip) simply because it was interesting and different. I wish I could remember her name - I like to patronize quality merchants/entertainers. Unfortunately, it was late and I forgot to write down her name.

I play a female human musician but because of the way i dress, rarely does anyone make any comments towards me. I am wearing a black jacket, long sleeve white shirt, black pants, and boots and playing a fizz. One guy made a coment once for me to "Get out on the floor and shake it." I changed from instrument to pistol and he shut up pretty quick. When he said sorry i went back to playing. After that i only got positive comments, and a few good tips...

"Underwear dancers do not make more in tips than those of us in clothes."

Case in point...last night, I danced in shorts, boots, top...and backpack, because I'm not putting things in the bank until I can trust the safety deposit box. It was a sort of "Frontier chic."
I made much more money than the underwear dancer who was just trying to get enough credits to get home to her boyfriend on another planet and was announcing that she'd do anything for cash. (This is not to say I thought she was being twinkish...it's just to prove the point that it's not the clothes that make the tips. I was in a BACKPACK, fer pete's sake.)

My first character was Me'aja Kewoo,a Twi'lek dancer on Tarquinas. I started the first day the login server was actually able to handle the traffic, and it was pretty fun at first. I met a nice group of people in the Coronet cantina and we talked about starting a PA and putting together a traveling theater group. Not many people came into the cantinas at that point except for those who played in beta, most likely because new players didn't really understand the problems battle fatigue and mind wounds could cause.

Anyway, I went into the entertainment field thinking I'd be something like a ballerina or a performance artist, and it sort of went that way. The beta people were all really nice and they all tipped what they could afford, which wasn't much in the first few days. None of us expected to get wealthy from tips, though; the thought was far more important than the amount. And then, gradually, the newbies started coming into the cantinas and the underwear dancers started showing up. The "overly-friendly" customers started making lewd comments, and the entire place went from a nice nightclub to a gutter bar in no time at all.

I thought it was just bad luck, that Coronet had simply been unfortunate enough to draw a bad element. I started doing delivery missions until I'd saved up a nice little bundle and then I put on my traveling shoes and paid a visit to the star port. After visiting several cities on every major planet, I came to realize there were two types of cantinas: 1) cantinas with underwear dancers and people looking for lap dances, and 2) empty cantinas in cities nobody visited unless they were passing through on delivery missions. And Coronet was the least disgusting of them all.

I eventually made it a few steps into Novice Dancer before I finally got sick of the raging hormones that seemed to surround the professionand just made amedic on Sunrunner when it came up. Since Sunrunner was supposed to be an unofficial roleplaying server, it seemed probable thatI'd find less irritating behavior in the cantinas there. I also knew that medics had been highly prized (especially by entertainers) on Tarquinas, so that seemed a safe route. Well, it seems every server has at least one naked dancer per populated cantina, even if that server has only been up a week.

I decided I'd practice my medical skills by using action stimpacks on entertainers, but I'd only use them on clothed dancers (and wookies, of course). Ultimately, the underwear dancers became offended that I was ignoring them, which made the whole cantina situation uncomfortable and unpleasant. So, I stopped practicing medicine, picked up novice entertainer, then progressed up the scout, creature handler, and pistol trees. I haven't set foot inside a cantina since, and my game experience has been better because of it.

Maybe it's because I'm a womanover thirty, maybe it's because I'm repressed, or maybe it's because I have unrealistic expectations, but I really just wanted to dance with some measure of coordination (which I lack in real life)and a touch of dignity in a pleasant locale. I never signed on to be a stripper, nor did I ever want to dance ballet in a strip club. I'm not really sure why I'm typing such a long post or even why I still browse the entertainer forums, but I suppose it's because the developers succeededin creatingwhat I felt was a wonderful profession that was, in turn, ruined for me by players. I've been playing MMOs for long enough now to realize that players are the best and worst parts of any such game, but it still came as a surprise to me this time. I miss the entertainer friends I made on Tarquinas and I respect the people like them on every server. The rest? I hope they get eaten by banthas with rotten teeth.

Just a small suggestion for those of you who feel you are at your wits end...

Do a bit of scouting for a PA and dance in the PA Hall!! If you find yourself a nice PA that shares the same style of play as you, you will not only find less of the unwanted types of entertainers, but also the ability to eject nasty customers from the building. (we do have that option right?) The only downside to this is there might be a lower traffic-flow of customers. But advertise enough and put on good shows, and I'm sure in no time you'll start having "regulars"

As far as the public cantinas:

I play a musician that plays mostly in the mos eisly cantina. Yes we have many dancers there, and many dress...well...scantily. I don't have a problem with it, just eye-candy for me. What I DO have a problem with is the customers that come in and decide that this gives them the right to be rude/lewd/obnoxious to them. Generally when I see a dancer or fellow musician getting hassled, I will stop playing, don my fighting gear and step up beside the entertainer and ask if things are ok. I also shoot them a /tell that if they want me to back off so they can handle it in their own way, I can do that too. More often than not they are happy that they are not left alone to deal with the heckler.

Of course public humiliation seems to work fairly well too. :-Þ
