The key here, is DON'T LET THEM GET A RISE OUT OF YOU! As someone mentioned...play along! Act 'gay'.../kiss them...or /emote something dirty (but within reason).

Take the fun out of their harrassing you and they'll move on.

I wish you could 'deny' someone from watching/listening to you. medic's can be selective in healing...entertainers should have something similar!

I've only had to deal with two imbeciles in the first 2 weeks I have been playing. I just /ignore'ed both of them. Problem solved. That's my advice.

I haven't really compared tips with anyone, but I can say that scanty doesn't always win. I play a musician--a tall purple twi'lek usually dressed in long dresses. Not much skin showing, no butt-shaking dance flourishes, etc. I get tipped well and have a great time, even while dancers in their undies are complaining.

I figure it's because I actually talk to people, say "thank you" or bow when they toss me a heal or a tip, interact with the other musicians and dancers, etc. That is, I act like real person instead of an NPC healing machine.

This does occasionally cause difficulty from people who want an NPC healing maching, I'll admit. Someone comes in and drops a large pet in front of me, I'll stop playing. Usually they then explain how I'm being terribly unfair, because I'm supposed to be healing their battle fatigue. "Your pet is taking up most of the entryway." "But he needs healing too! Why aren't you playing?" "I don't feel like playing for the rear end of a giant cockroach." "But, but, play! That's what you're here for!"

The concept of "real person you might want to be polite to" isn't as common as one would hope. I won't even go into the sexual harassment aspects. Important safety tip: some of those hot little numbers in the cantina are actually being played by real women who might not want to have cybersex with horny guys. Just a thought.

I told him to stop it, or I'd report him for player harassment and sexual harassment, and he said "Typical homo, always running for help."

The best come-back I've seen was posted over in the Dancer forum. One of the females interjected in exactly this kind of exchange, and asked her male dancer friend "Isn't it ironic how sexually insecure boys seem to be so worried about the sexuality of other men?"

Shuts 'em right up.

Another thing I am sick of is players making stupid female naked dancers called "Striptease" or "Britney Spears". Crap like this has totally RUINED the entertainer profession to where it's now a joke.

They only ruin it if we let them. On Chilastra, there are enough *good* dancers that most of these twits don't last very long -- they are /kicked from groups, discouraged and harrassed by the others. In one case recently, another dancer challenged the twit to a /duel and ended up DB'ing her - twice. I haven't seen much of her lately

If you're not making good tips and the local dancing environment stinks, move. There are a lot of great cantinas out there with great patrons. Go to Naboo or Corellia and check out about any cantina there. Save up 1600cr and go to Lok, where they see a dancer about once a week They'll appreciate you that much more, and you won't have to worry about the dirty-underwear ho's spoiling the image.

Dropping big creatures right on top of the band...

This one happened to me last night in the cantina. There we are playing away and suddenly this enormous insect is there. Followed by something that was so big the top 1/2 of it did not fit into the room -- I don't even know what it was. Looked like some sort of dinosaur thing.

Well, I just had my dancer shout "Eeek!", /stopdance'd, and ran out of the way. She kept making comments like "What are those THINGS doing in the cantina?" until finally the guy put them away (probably, after they had been mind-healed). The other dancers ignored it and kept on dancing, and the musician was AFK, so my reaction was the only one he got... But if everyone would react this way to "giant creature drops" maybe they would stop doing it.

I've had people do that. They'll stick they're 2-ton bug or somesuch right in the middle of the dance floor, and I've even seen it done right on top of some dancers. And people can get rude about it. "They need healing too" "Who cares" "We can put them where we want". It's annoying. I figure, cantinas have multiple little alcoves and such. Why not put them there, at LEAST?

But people are rude and inconsiderate a lot of the time, you know, "because it's just a game, get over it."

Well, people go into such games to get away from people like that, it's just obvious that people who have no respect for others in-game have none for others in real life either. I get griefed way too often. I got it twice in a row today from guys making comments about male dancers(not smart, since at the time I was the only entertainer), so I just stopped dancing and sat off to the side to do some crafting. I deal with enough homophobes RL thanks, don't need it in-game. Thankfully not everyone is like that! And to those who aren't, I hope/think you outnumber those who are, and I thank you for not contributing to the grief I and other dancers/entertainers/musicians/etc get! ^.^

i too play an entertainer, and i too noticed the lewd action of my fellow entertainers. in fact i refuse to /join a troupe, if most of the dancers are dancing in their undies or topless. i haven't relized how much of rep i was making for my self in that matter, when i came into a cantina, and some one was harassing the troupe that was there. so i started dancing, the bandleader told me to stop, and sent me a private tell why. another time, i was troupe leader, and one of the dancers was being harassed by a player, i told him to stop, and half the cantina told him he'l have a line people waiting their turn when he was finish dueling with the first challanger, and i told him we wouldn't heal his mind wounds and bf, but i knew we couldn't do it, or can we. i did missions when the bimbos took over the cantinas, but my main complaint is now master dnacers and entertainers are telling others in the troupe to help another, on their way up to mastership, with the truopeflourishes. in otherwords, when she busts a move, you do one too, regardless if you are doing your own flourishes. i find it annoying and selfish. i too want to get the master title too, but i don't think it's fair to help someone else and get nothing in return, but /ignore when askto /join their troupe. i've got high in my skills the marcos wont work, but mine do lol speaking of marcos. i think it very rude when an enterainer puts their toonon marcos, because if they're the troupe leader new poeple can't join the the troupe and they aren't interacting with the patrons. also, if you need training, and don't have the credits to do it, you'll turn to them, but they are on marcos. or worse their friends and regulars come in, and try speaking to them, and they see they are on macros. i know, once i was dancing with a whole troupe on macros, and didn't even noticed, until a patron told me. i was really mad too. it's embarassing too, and insulting, at least to me. it gives me the impression i'm not worhty to interact with the troupe.

someone did something I hadn't seen before, but I have to admit is semi-clever.

Someone was running a mousebot around patrollinga cantina names "TipYourEntertainers" or something like that. Someone else got bothered by that and left another one named "DoNotPromoteBegging"

So when I log in this afternoon, the no-begging bot was the only one there, chirping away as it circled the performers.

The tips were less than generous, so it seemed to be working.

When the letter "i" stands alone, it is capitalized.
