buffbot character. This is obviously not as intended. The same day I heard about it, I contacted everyone who has the ability to give out a badge and reminded them our policies and guidelines.

macroers and buffbots should be rewarded with badges and we apologize to the Entertainers and other players who saw this as a slight to their professions.

Pex,

Thank you for your response. It is clear that SOE do not approve of AFK Macro playing as being desirable. The question this brings is do you feel it needs to be stopped and or limited in any way?

If you do can I humbly suggest the opening of a Smuggler GreenMarine style thread as a number of us (including our Dev Pro Tempore) have ideas and we would like to know if it on your agenda so we can help (we want this game to be as good as you do!).

If you only want to limit AFK playing but not eliminate it please let us know what the dividing line is.

Thanks again for calming the anger that had been building and I apologise to the team for any offense my proposed questions and my comments have made to the dev team.

Pex,

Not only am I immensely pleased that you took the time to personally post something in this humble forum, but it was in regards to a topic that was very important to all of us. The personal touch really does make a big difference, maybe to us more than to others, since we are 'the social professions'.

I hope this means that once you've read some of the responses you've received here that you would be inclined to possibly post in the Entertainer threads more often. See, we don't bite that hard We really appreciate contact with the Red Tags, and would love to work with you in improving our professions.

Thanks again.

Pex, you have my deep admiration (always have actually). Thank you for risking the flames and arrows of discontent within the entertainer boards to apologize for a grievious mistake. I, personally, do forgive the CSR forhis error in judgement. It happens.

I had begun tofeel that my own badge for Professional Demeanor (givenby you,by the way) had lost it's worth altogether. You have restored some of my faith in SOE's commitment to their grand experiment. Thank you. Now my hope is that we can all move on to the other needs of the entertainer class with one less concern in our path.

You are always welcome in our forums, Pex . . . care to take us on as a personal project?

Thanks, Pex.

It's very much a relief to hear that the policy on badges hasn't changed. Also, I appreciate you clearing up this incident and reassuring us of our place in this game. This all happened at a time when we feel that our usefulness in the game has been reduced to a macro and an /invite command. The end of the hologrind won't fix the fact that many folks just plain "don't want to wait for an entertainer" or "can never find an entertainer." They then either start up a buffbot account, or visit their favorite macro-tainer/buffbot without even looking for a live entertainer.

I hope the larger problem here can be looked into and examined further.

Although I can (possibly) buy the fact that the CSR might not have realized it was a buffbot, at the same time (from what i hear of the incident) the buffbot's Spatial messages made it very clear that it was AFK buffing. I fear that this situation reflects the game community's attitude that these AFK entertainers are "handy" and "useful," when really they insult the entertainment community.

BUT - thank you SO MUCHfor posting in here, we've been dreaming of seeing a developer around here for some time, and your clarification on this matter is very much appreciated.

While I approve of the policy, I do find it flawed.

Why is the afk/buffbots $15 a month worth less than the ATK player?

LOL, apparently you are not a Wookiee male musician. It is very rare that I get tips. I don't need them, and I always appreciate it when I get them, but I do not get them often.

You miss the point completely. It isn't how much the player pays. That $15 does not give you the right to mess up the game for the ATK entertainers. There is a reason entertaining is a profession. And, those of us who do it as our primary profession do it because we like to entertain. The afk/buffbots broke the game for most of us. They chased us out of the cantinas. And, with the Jedi grind finally going away, we are going to take back the cantinas and do what we do!
