Yay!

We were awful on Test Center, n'Jessi, Pappi, and I just kept cueing them up and going "ooooooh" and cheering for the droids. Pappi was the worst, she would have all the effects going at the same time! heh

I'm a big fan of the "Birds in the Clouds" look and think that may be done really well with a spoken word routine maybe.I'm looking forward to reading your new guide!

hey... i didn't have them on *all at once*, they were on 3s intervals (which i discussed with TK421, they should increase the lower delay to something around 5-10s, a few of those droids can probably overload the server by themselves O.o)

You mean that wasn't artistic expression?

I was very moved by the Dancing Jawas in Foam bit!

Thought i would hop in here and give one piece of advice.

Although its true that you need novice musician program the droid, if he has a playback track that contains Starwars1 i think you can still get him to start up with /bandstart starwars1

If i am mistaken i apologize.

Any novice entertainer..and that includes anyone who is a dancer can play starwars1...you just need a slitherhorn. I realize its not much, but at least you could have one song you could dance to...just have the musician record using the Bandfill, at least that way you have a nice rockin bass track to dance to.

Take out your slitherhorn make sure your droid is grouped with you..it wont work otherwise. and type /bandstart Starwars1 once the droid starts playing...type /stopmusic...this way you will stop playing but the droid will continue to function. You can then start dancing. You can flourish the droid with bandflourish + instrument..in this case /bandflo <1-8> Bandfill

I am pretty sure this works although being a master musician i cant really reliably test this theory, so someone who has no music skills needs to try it.

Fragpuppie, how do I tell only the droid to /stop and /start? /stop bandfill?

You can't other than through the play back command (sudden) or a /stopband (exit flourish). Kinda sucks.....but better than if they added a /stopband (instrument)... it could get ugly in the cantinas.

Now assuming you can do just this, would it stand to reason that you could input two bandflo's at the same time but specify? hmmm i wonder if you could do like

/bandflo 4 Nalgaron

/bandflo 2 Bandfill

and if timed right it would execute at the same time?

i will have to try this out..if its possible it would make writing a song macro much easier then creating two scripts

Ceta

Yes, you can do exactly that. Normal flourishes and bandflourishes, if executed right after the other, will queue up and play when they get their turn. However, if you execute a /bandflourish for a specific instrument, anyone in the band NOT playing that instrument will basically act as if no /bandflourish was issued. In other words, nothing gets queued up.

So whether you're using droids or not, you could actually write a macro that looks like this:

/bandfl 1 mand; (btw yes, you can abbreviate instrument names here)
/bandfl 4 band;
/bandfl 8 narl;
/bandfl 2 kloo;
/pause 4
/bandfl 3;

Now these are just random numbers, but if you executed this macro, the mandiviol, bandfill, narlagon, and kloo horn players would each do their requested flourishes at the same time. Anyone playing other instruments (fanfar, omni box, whatever) would NOT fourish. 4 seconds later, everyone would do a /bandflourish 3.

This is a really great way to write songs, and now that we can use droids to help us mix and match flourishes, it should be easier (before, I had to find some poor soul to sit there and let me /bandflourish them for an hour ).

Checking your spelling (and punctuation, too) will ensure that you're making sense to more than two people.

When you are mixing flourishes like that, while theoretically it happens at the same time, in practice it takes a little bit to get all the commands. So you need to try and do it in the middle of a flourish. If you do it right between flourishes, some will start on the new one some will now. This is of course not a problem if you keep a flourish or two ahead.

And you can abbreviate them more than that.... My music has such cryptic things in it as /b 2 b or /b 6 m. The only ones you need 2 letters on is fi and fa. (Fizzz and fanfar)

Okay I'm having all sorts of fun with my droid, and I've already noted from the previous posts that there doesn't seem to be any commands for the droids themselves, but does anyone know how to tell the droid which track to play? I've recorded virt both with the Nar, and Bandfill, but I don't know how to make the droid use one or the other. Any suggestions?

I do really like these new droids, but there is a massive bug with recording the same song on one droid (with two different instruments). When you do this, one of three things happens. You can start up the droid, and he'll play whichever instrument you specified, then when you start playing, it will either flip the instrument its playing to another recorded instrument, not allow the droid to flourish, or not allow you to accept bandflourishes (you can flourish solo, but bandflo's don't work).

May the glitch be with you!

I spent alot of time today useing the new musician playback droid. Mine even had one of the special effects installed (Dancing Jawas)

All in all.. very nice!

A few things that need to be tweaked:

we should be able to do the following from a macro or /command (afterall if I target my droid to do it via radial menu I stop playing the Nalargon)

/toogleDroidEffects

/rechargeDroid

/accessplaybacktracks

(we should be able to at least view these while the doid is playing (currently we cant) so that we can see what songs we can /bandchange to with the droid)

will there be any new droid modelsor droid functions? something i wanted to see is auto-pilot on a landspeeder since we cant have passengers. a droid without legs built into the passenger side of the landspeeder. he drives while you gun or maybe he just drives. as a master artisan you would sell a lot of those X34s if you could built such a droid into them.

i dont know all the limits of droids but i dont think they can slice, or repair or heal.i thinksome would say those functions will create an inbalance but i disagree. they could always place very specific limits on thoseactions. it would be nice to have a droid that can repair bikes, armor, weapons. one that can actually heal you or your wounds.

also something like cybernetic limbs. i guess they wouldnt be cybernetic but something similar to armor only it doesnt cause total encumbrance(meaning it offsets the encumbrance it causes to one stat, but you are left with encumbrance to the 2 others), doesnt offer any protection. just stat improvements beyond what can be achieved wearingspecial clothes orarmors with sockets for addins.for exampleit wouldadd to strength till the batteries die or something. these things would be able to be damaged losing their effectiveness which would send people coming back to us.

i know these things wont happen, cant allhappen. i like the cybernetic one the most and i thought since vader is around and hes basically half-droid, that we should be able to make others into half-droids.or turn half-droid into a playable race forcing them to depend on us for some of their healing needs and upgrades, not a doc or image designer.

You're new to the profession and the game it seems, so you may not know that Droid Engineer was recently revamped and given a lot of new additions. With Jump to Lightspeed coming, we can expect more, but as nice as new stuff all the time would be, dont get your hopes up, there are a lot of professions that need work more than we do now, and they deserve the development time.
