All the male dancers I know eventually drop the skills and become fighters.

I've been playing a male dancer/smuggler since release. My experience thus far has been tipping is extremely sporadic. I'm always chatting it up, speaking with the patrons, preening.. my character is an egotistical spice addict small time gangster in league with the Hutt. He dances to make ends meet (in character). In reality, I go entire nights without a tip. Some nights I'll make a few thousand credits, usually all in one tip because of my roleplaying. I don't really mind, it's just funny when a half-naked twi'lek girl with dance 1 who's afk most of the night makes more than an almost master dancer who synchronizes light shows with dance moves/roleplays almost constantly. But tehy r hott dude! U r geigh!

Hehe. I am most certainly not.My character just loves to dance. It helps train his body for combat. Not to mention all the time he gets to spend with attractive females. Mua ha. Maybe I shouldn't complain about half naked twi'lek girls after all. What's this post about? Hells if I know. Oh! Being a male dancer is hard. Yes indeed.

i got tailor, and was going to get combat secondary. I spent a lot of time in the cantina making clothes, then i left and felt so bored, so i picked up dancing. Made great friends, had a lot of fun, and now i'm doing exotic dance with my blue male rodian, and it's **edit** awesome.

I'm hitting untapped markets here i think, at least on my server.

I've just picked up exotic, and I get one of two reactions from women and one of two from men.. The women either think it's great and are amazed a guy has gone so far, or they think it's ludicrous and laugh - even other dancers. The guys usually just mistake me for being female.

Any tips you might want to share for a fellow exotic dancing guy?

I dance partly because I wanted to be a Master Entertainer and get a mandoviol and Ceremonial, but partly because it's fun. I recently bought about a half-dozen pairs of hot pants to spice up my act. So far those garments have inspired less than enthusiastic reactions from my friends.OK, so I'll stick withpants and shirts. In a nice pair of slacks and a white shirt, I think I look pretty good doing Formal 2.

I play on Rori, Restuss, Tarquinas, a female as a female dancer and I hear this from all the guys. Yeah, females make more tips. Fact, more males play the game than females. Fact, they want to see half naked chicks. Fact, nearly all of the guys ASK me if I am a real female or a guy playing a girl. I have never once asked for a tip. I average 5-10k a day...which is a pittance when you see these guys come back from Endor with 300k. But look at it...they are dying and fighting...and I am dancing in a nice safe hotel.

You cant fight their fantasies. My character plays an extremely earthy and sensual female. They like it. But I do not believe they tip only because of how I look or talk. My best nights involve pure entertaining. I have them join me in a game of..Answer a question with a question....or I tell them all to dance with me or I wont dance...I get them involved and they have fun.

Most of my customers on our tiny moon are regulars and they have favorites but they tip equally well, or tell us to split with the band, which we do happily. I think setting up and MAKING your cantina or hotel THE HOTSPOT for FUN...is a key element. yeah, I spend about 8 hours a day in a hotel, dancing or playing an instrument, and at least half that time the place is empty. But my people know I will be there, so they come. If I am not there for some reason, they will send a /tell...and they tip extrememly well when i come running.

This is the hospitality business, people. Make your place hospitable and not a macro run establishment. Insist that your group entertain and get to know the regulars.

I dont care if you tip me 10 credits or 10k....although I remember you better when you tip 10k *evil grin*

just my observation...

Most male dancers arent that high up in the dancing tree. Dancers get tipped not only for their personality but for their ability to heal quickly. Most people are going to tip a higher lvl dancer, all other things being equal, then a novice entertainer dancer.

Secondly, I havnt seen too many male dancers really work the crowd. Sometimes they will point out 'look Im the only male dancer tip me' but that just doesnt cut it. Getting tip or even applause requires a bit of crowd manipulation.

Last night I had 7 male dancers in my cantina (Im usually the only regular one in there) It was fun. I called in ladies and we got to watch the guys for once and feed them credits.

I think theres a future for male dancers...especially if you can get a troop going and perform higher lvl dances, but you really need to get up on the dance tree and interact. Dont expect to be doing rhythmic1 and not talking and still earn a living. It just wont happen.

I'm not so sure I buy the they'll tip the highest dancer thing.. Someone watching doesn't always know who the highest is.. They can't recognize the dances, and not everyone wears the title.

However, I haven't been able to test that since I got exotic.. I left the AFK mess of Theed and went to small cantinas to dance mostly solo. (Made about 3k in tips, 2k of which was from one person)

Hey Guys, I haven't really been following along with this thread, i just saw the title and decided to interject. I'm a male Master Dancer in Bloodfin (Master Musician And Master Entertainer Extrodanaire), and no the tips definatly aren't as good as a dancer, as they are a musician.

I do it for the fun of it really, and probably when i have to give some skills up in about 10 skill points Dancer is going to be the first thing to go. Male Dancers DEFINATLY get picked on all too much . If i go out in a hunting group with the Master Musician title on, and then start up Lyrical2 in the camps, i get super flamed. Just another reason why Male Dancers are rare to.

When a male dancer comes into the cantina HE'S MINE! Forget the customers, forget tips. I love dancing with a male partner and especially synch dancing exotic. If I get tips I share them with him for the pleasure of having a guy to dance with. Talk to the hand commandoboys, gimme a guy with some moves!

I have a few dancer friends that would dance with me instead of customers, at least in crowded cantinas.

Partner dancing exotic can be quite fun. I find that partner dancing can get some good tips in general... But too often, yeah, the girls tend to the customers first.
