Fantastic! So we should be seeing an Entertainment Module for droids sometime soon correct? After all, Docs are not required to perform any of their actions inside a Medical Center and on top of that they get the 10% bonus. I would love to see a 110-rated Entertainment droid brought into the game that would give the bonus AND allow healing of minds wounds AND battle fatigue outside of cantinas AND allow for Music/Dance buffs outside of cantinas.

The new entertainer droid only produces flourishes (which as i recall from my time as a Master Musician, doesnt help with xp). The notes do not say it allows entertainers to perform anywhere (like medics w/ droids), and requests for clarification have gone unanswered.

As near as we can tell, the new entertainer droid, literally, just blows smoke.

EDIT: not flourishes... those other things... the embelishments like spotlight and fireflares and stuff...

I'm hearing Entertainers report that it will simply:

1) take less/no action HAM to 'perform' the new effects.

2) not really matter to them.

Also, on the Entertainer module...

Should I point out that we're being asked to make/sell a module to a profession that spends a lot (or most) of its time AFK?

Does anyone else but me see the flaws in that?

Yes, I hate the way they are handling the entertainer droid issue as well... Give the AFK people an even easier way to NOT play the game, yeah that's scoring real high on the old IQ chart. I would much prefer it be just an EXACT copy of the effects of the Medical module. Gives the ability to do it anywhere, a bit of a bonus on top of that and be done with it.

You know if I gave an answer to my customer(s) like that I would be out of business in nothing flat. As communications seems to be at issue here let me reduce it to the barest minimum number of bits so that RuneSaber and the other devs can in fact receive the tranmission without error.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have 3 accounts in game and have been here since opening day --

One of these is a MDE --

I(We) have waiting long enough thanks -- its time to get with the program and make meaningful changes

Either give the profession meaning or I'll cancel all 3 accounts and happily go back to WWIIOnline and my other games. I have no further will or desire to continue on this path any more...space expansion be d***ed.

Im 47 and I'M FRUSTRATED ANF DISAPPOINTED...I can only imagine how the Gen. Xers are doing. (likely the closest human approximation to an exploding mouse droid)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You do the math RuneSaber...exactly how many more hits can this game take and survive when the heart and soul (we Science Fiction lovers with money to spend) are willing to walk away. I understand you guys have yourown worries etc - but I hopefully distilling the mssg. to minimum bits will show you the level of frustration in the DE community. The promise has always been there and its time to deliver...

Maybe it would encourage people to come back to the keyboards. I'm imagining several etertainer droids with synchronized light shows, a couple of high tech field bases, spice, chef offerings and a band out in the woods of Naboo. SWG rave

Preach on. It's all too easy for the devs to dismiss critical input as the rant of an emotional teen ... but I think it's the employed, educated, surplus-income adults that they're really losing in this game. Because we don't accept excuses for poor quality, simple as that. There IS no excuse for poor quality. You either do a job right or you don't do it, you don't look for a bunch of alibis for why you didn't do it right.

As a Generation Z'er (went to high school while Led Zeppelin was still touring), I'm with you -- raise quality or watch the mass exodus commence.

Take a survey droid that only returns resource names and properties for a given category (say mineral) on a planet. How hard would it be to write a sql statement? Ok, lets complicate it and say it crosses different servers. They could always tuck a routine into the spawning routine to make an entry in a simple flat tablewhen it first spawns and use that for the basis of the query. When it unspawns, delete the record.

You are presuming that ALL coding of this nature is done is SQL. You need to remember thatSWG is a hybrid system built on of the Oracle RDBMS (as data repository) and using some(unknown) GUI language(s).

I can give a very explicit example...one of my customers (name witheld to protect my skin and cash-flow)operates a Manufacturing Plant Maintenance system that some fool in upper-level management decided was "right" for the organization. The application is written in a variation of Visual C++ and placed on top of an Oracle RDBMS engine. Unfortunately, ALL data-based triggers and edit checks are performed via embedded code in the GUI layer and NOT in the RDBMS (where itshould properly occur). I have to presume that there is some overriding problem with the system design of SWG that makes if untennable to make a sweeping change to application in order to accomodate us.

- Account: Master TKA (cancelled)
- Account: Master Doctor (cancelled)
- Account: Smuggler (cancelled)
- Account: Master Chef (cancelled)
- Account: Master Droid Engineer (activity suspended pending developments)
Total loss of annual revenue (SOE): ~$715US to ~$900US
- Bad press: Priceless
Should Sony and Lucas Arts be worried? (15000 users * 5 accts = ~$13MIL in potential lost gross annual revenue) If I were the CEO for either LA or SOE, I would certainly be worried.

so your thesis is that there is an abstraction layer above the database and they have no direct control of their data.

certainly would explain why things are so f*sked up.... but still... it seems hard to believe.

I'd love to see a droid that did some of the leg work I dont like doing. A droid that could pick up items Ive purchased from the bazaar/peoples vendors even when off planet would be great. Buy something in Theed but need to travel to Talus to pick it up? Not anymore, send the droid and [insert minutes] later the droid comes bounding back with items in its inventory.

Won't happen, but would be cool as hell for someone like me who is always looking to get the best deal on resources which often means planet hopping.
