You'd like to think you know what surgical droids are for, but you'd be mistaken. There is no benefit to using a surgical droid chassis over any other kind of droid chassis for medical applications. It's all about the medical module you put in it, either way.

The only "specialty" droids we have are:
  • Seeker Droids / Arakyd Probe Droids -- Restricted to use by Bounty Hunters
  • EG-6 Power Droid (Regular and Advanced) -- ability to recharge other droids
  • DZ-70 (Regular and Advanced), Probot (Regular and Advanced) -- capable of attacking things.

For every other function, the usefulness of the droid is defined exclusively by the modules installed at creation. An Advanced MSE droid with two modules is functionally no different than an Advanced Protocol Droid with the same two modules. The external appearance (and usually the price tag) is the only difference. Yes, this also applies to Surgical Droids, which have no innate medical skills.

It's also important to be aware of the limitations of certain droid chassis. Here are the ones I am aware of:
  • Power Droids cannot use a repair module. Their innate "recharge" command seems to replace the "repair" command normally added by this module.
  • "Conversational" droids (humanoid droids that use personality chips during construction and receive their instructions through the "Converse" command rather than the "Program" pop-up menu) cannot use a repair module. Since the repair module adds a command to the Program menu, and these droids don't have that menu, there's no way to train a command for it. Sadly, this includes the LE Repair Droid, which is therefore by no means capable of repairing anything.
  • Some conversational droids will not allow access to a data or item storage module. This has been most often observed with Surgical droids. The radial menu simply does not acquire the usual command for opening the storage compartment. It's not every time (I have an advanced protocol droid with item storage and have never had problems accessing it), but it happens with enough droids that I warn my customers ahead of time, and if that's what they really want, I offer them options like 5k credits refund or a free MSE droid with the item storage if they tame the droid and it doesn't have storage.

Regardless ofwhat the DE community feels about the holo-chasers, the opening post wasfairly inflammatory and was a little out of character for Sintrosi. I happen to be a holo-chaser tailor, and have gotten quite a bit of help from the tailor boards if I state my motives for asking for help. They hostility is unwarrented. And I'm pretty sure these boards belong to SOE and not one any profession's corrospondent.

Give the holo-chasers a break. They have just as much right to ask questions as anyone else.

This is the general attitude that Holocron chasers have toward DEs...the same attitude that most combat professions have had toward us since beta.

The problem I see in this whole discussion is that we tend to generalize too much. Not that I don´t understand it; if you make that experience with 99 out of 100 people, its only natural to assume that everyone is that way.
My experiences with other players in comparison to yours are probably very slim, since I spent the first 2 months in the game mostly with my guildies (coming from DAoC) and crafting. Still I´d like to view every person as a single entity and give them the benefit of doubt. Is the behaviour you just described really typical for the "holocron chaser per se" or may it be another example for bad education, usually (but not always) connected to the age or better the lack of maturity ? I guess that the percentage of so called "r00ler kiddies" is pretty high in the "holo chasers" group in comparison to the SWG community in whole, so there may be a higher chance to actually meet such a person when he´s a "holo chaser". Still there are nice, friendly, mature players out there, who like the idea of being a Jedi and actively pursue that goal, as we can see in this thread.

Right now I wouldn´t give up DE if I found a holocron, now that I´m close to Master, because I simply love my profession. Others have totally different goals and should be treated according to their behaviour. I concede, that not looking up the infos in the sticky threads and using the search function is a form of unpoliteness too. Once again to clarify: I can understand and feel the frustration of long-time DEs and especially Sintrosi. Sometimes you have to vent and an increase in "Holo Chasers: Show me the way to master"-posts can become quite annoying.
Still I´d rather see us sticking a more or less emotionless "Holo Chasers - look here, how to master DE quickly to drop it again" thread and stay the friendly, helpful community as I experienced this DE board.

P.S: I apologize for potentially bad english, I´m German.

Your English seemed pretty good to me, Zoppo, and on the whole I agree with you. However, I don't think a "how to grind DE to Master" thread stickied at the top will help.

Considering people are posting these threads, even though there areusualy atleast 2 others with the exact same title in the 20 most recent threads tends to suggest that these people are not interested in spending time reading other people's threads .. they are only concerned with their own.

I agree with the maturity check, though also feel I should point out that (most likely) 40% or more of the SWG community consists of hot-blooded 13-16 yearolds and while this (and what I'm about to say) is generalising, players of this age tend tohead for the l33t ubber PVP command all no one can kill me I am the ruler of the galaxy player. I'll just stand in the streets of Theed an count all of the people that challenge me to a duel just because they get some kind of orgasm over beating someone in an unbalanced fight.

But trying to get back on-topic... I've been here from almost launch, and was one of the regulars on the old forums as well ... and to say I'm sick of the "How can I become MDE in 2 seconds" posts is an understatement .. but then I'm also getting equaly as sick of the "Droid customisation failed!?!?!?!" posts as well....

Does anyone know of a macro that actually works cause i tried this and it doesnt work. It says there is no such command selectDraftScematic. Or if anyone could tell me how to set it up on a hot key id appreciate it.

Well if you spelled it EXACTLY like you typed it here, it is just mispelled.

It is /selectDraftSchematic, not /selectDraftScematic

Is that the exact macro? That just doesnt look like it would work. How would you get by having to place the minerals in the correct spots? If you can explain in more detail id appreciate it. Im not macro friendly.

Ok, here´s what I´m doing to grind with advanced droid frame units:

First of all store your crafting station droid and go to options and remove the check on "Confirm crafting actions" or whatever its called.

After that, use trial&error to find out the draft schematics number for the advanced droid frame unit by opening your crafting station and typing /selectDraftSchematic ## (## stands for a number here) until you got the right number. Don´t forget to use the up key or whatever works for you to repeat the last command, so you only have to change the number and not type in the whole command again.

Then put 6 Weapon/Droid/General Crafting Tools in the first slots in the lower quickbar (slots are numbered 0-11 in top row, 12-23 in the lower row, so I put them in slots 12-17).

I have three macros:

The first macro sits in slot 18. Its only function is to start the crafting macro.

/ui action toolbarSlot19;

>>>> You have to use the exact syntax,no blank between toolbarSlot and the Slotnumber.

The second macro is the crafting macro and sits in slot19:

/ui action toolbarSlot12;
/selectDraftSchematic 114; -----note the blank before the number; use your own number
/pause 5;
/nextCraftingStage;
/nextCraftingStage;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/pause 2;
/ui action toolbarSlot13;
/selectDraftSchematic 114;
/pause 5;
/nextCraftingStage;
/nextCraftingStage;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/pause 2;
/ui action toolbarSlot14;
/selectDraftSchematic 114;
/pause 5;
/nextCraftingStage;
/nextCraftingStage;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/pause 2;
/ui action toolbarSlot15;
/selectDraftSchematic 114;
/pause 5;
/nextCraftingStage;
/nextCraftingStage;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/pause 2;
/ui action toolbarSlot16;
/selectDraftSchematic 114;
/pause 5;
/nextCraftingStage;
/nextCraftingStage;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/pause 2;
/ui action toolbarSlot17;
/selectDraftSchematic 114;
/pause 5;
/nextCraftingStage;
/nextCraftingStage;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/pause 2;
/ui action toolbarSlot18; ----- this calls the starting macro, which then calls the whole crafting macro again; this is imho necessary, because a macro can´t call itself

So now all you have to do is click on the startmacro and doubleclick the ressources into the schematics every few seconds. If you experience lag or its too fast for you simply increase the pauses.
This timing works perfect for me but may not do it for you. Just try it.

The last macro is simply to stop the whole thing again:

/dump

Thats all you need.

Of course you could go the usual way and make 6 or so macros as stated in the various macro threads, but this worked pretty well for me.

Here is the macro I use... real easy:

/nextCraftingStage;
/nextCraftingStage;
/nextCraftingStage;
/createPrototype practice no item;
/createPrototype practice no item;

Real easy. I am working on advanced frame units now, and the only 3 buttons i push are for the 1) tool, 2) enter key once, 3) finishing macro. Real fast and simple. My only problem is finding out how to get more steel... I can grind through 10k in about 5 minutes.

Good to hear, Dragunsoul.

I just found a mistake in my post.

I wrote:

"After that, use trial&error to find out the draft schematics number for the advanced droid frame unit by opening your crafting station"

Of course I meant crafting tool, not crafting station.
