I agree. their is a lot of rudeness from those who want to get novice then master in a day and be over and done with it and thats creating a lot of hostility tword them from the DE's who plan on staying for their duration in the game this in turn begins to turn the rudeness from the master/drop people intoo hostility and everyone else who is eaven a bit neutral is getting hit... One problem is that everyone seems to be reading these posts between other things and as such are reading them too quick, and by just grazing over them take any ONE sentance as a personal attack on them.

What I have to say is this, slow down, take a deep breath, and take everything in stride. You dont get the whole picture by speed reading through the posts and you dont need to read between the lines on a forem because anyone who has done anything online isent going to give implied meanings, they are going to do their best to be outright and say it to try to avoid these kinds of flame wars..

And to ONLY those who wish to get the force slot tomarrow think about this, is it eaven slightly possible that mastering the professions from the holocrons isent the REAL task? is it possible that it isent just to get you to try out more game functions? Maby their is some way it is supposed to affect your playstyal so that you alter your in game attitude so that you do some of the lesser done things in the game? I highly doubt that the ONLY thing involved in the holocron craze it to master a profession, it seems to me that you are looking at the clue and skiping some steps in trying to just master the profession. I think their is some experience you are supposed to go through wile in those professions that you are missing by doing this. If it where all about leveling then the first jedi who is a power gamer according to all the reports would have gotten jedi a long time ago...

In short, just take the time to read everything carefully then think about how it actually aplies to you dont just read then post your missing the thought step.

Pause for a minut, take a deep breath and smell the axle greese, I dont have any hard feelings tword someone trying to power through the game but just try not to power through the forums too... that dosent work.

You're being awfully generalistic in these allegations. Most of us are good people. I myself live on the boards and know how it works. Just because we are in a profession to advance us does not make us any better or worse than you all.

It's so petty what people will get mad at. These forums are so full of junk already that one misplaced thread about how to get the most experience out of your grind is not really going to hurt things in the end. I think you'd all be happy to see the attention this broken class is getting. This may just be what the class really needs to fix itself. Attention.

With the influx of new DEs, there is a better chance that there will be a fix or addition to our Profession. Instead of flaming every single person who comes on here for help, be a good guy and point them in the right direction. Hostilities are un-needed and you ruin things for everyone by being that way.

As far as the correspondant is concerned, its not his place to gripe about the people in his profession. He was put in the position as an aid to the people who need it, and to be a voice for those who represent the profession. If the correspondant feels that he doesnt need to cater to the needs of ALL DEs, regardless if they are holocron followers or here by choice, then he has some serious issues. There should be no picking and choosing who receives help and who does not.

I have been active in a TON of professions, many of which I have not yet mastered or did not spend the time to master. I didnt care who came up to me to ask questions. I just told the person what they needed to know and that was that. I never once said to the BH/Commando dabbler "Nope, I cant help you. You're not a full blown Commando. Come back when you actually want to play as a member of this profession and not a visitor."

All this animosity only brings a bad name to those who have taken the time to finish this profession, and in my view you are no better than all of the Holo hunters who are in this profession. We all spend the time to attain mastery. How are we different except this is a stepping stone on my stairway to greater enlightenment. Until you all go out and take the time to unlock and play all of the various professions I and the others have had, you have no right to complain. We are playing the game to our fullest advantage and you have no place in impeding that progress.

You guys are ridiculous. Lemme ask you DEs a question. I'm gunning for Jedi just like the rest of them. I don't give a rats ass about you or your sacred profession. I'm going to get through it and drop it like used toilet paper, and your feelings on the matter are meaningless to me.

But keep something in mind. Yours is not the first profession that I have mastered. Not by a long shot. And yours is not the first forum I have come to looking for a simple guide to getting to Master. Yours IS the first forum that seems to be entirely comprised of 8 your old girls.

So my question to you is this. All the other boards seem to get that there will be folks powergaming through their profession to become Jedi. They write up a simple FAQ, and for the most part, they live and let live. What makes you all different? Why do you feel your profession is so special?

Get over yourselves. Really. Go over to the entertainment boards and buy a clue.

There is no change that SOE could make that would not cause people to protest. Whether they are nerfing the overpowered or giving love to the under developed, whether the change is small, or far reaching, someone somewhere will complain, protest, call it a 'slap in the face' and start a petition.

Thummp... That was un-needed. This is the type of hostility that makes a counter-productive environment. This is the kind of thing that is making all the true DEs angry at us Holocron DEs. If you had even wanted a shred of help from one of them, I think you just closed the door on those chances.

Its not what you are asking for, its how you are asking it. Its also someone constantly posting the same question over and over, even though are already over three posts asking the exact same question in the 20 most recent threads.

We have several FAQ's listed at the top of the page. We have 1000's of "how to grind DE" threads available if people bothered to search.

I have no problem with someone rushing their way through my profession in an attempt to get a Jedi slot .. but I *DO* have a problem with those people messing up these boards for those members that are trying to make this a constructive arena to improve our broken profession.

Now please, its time this thread was left alone. We have all had our say, and its quite clear no one is willing to bow to the other side.

Leave it be and move on.

Thummp-

I'll answer your question, Thummp, even if it was phrased in quite the rude manner.

The master DE's on these boards have been fighting since day 2 to get our profession fixed. The difference between this board and the other boards is that we have stuck it out for over half a year in a profession that started out broken and has really only been nerfed since then. The masters and the other old-timers here - of whom you are demanding knowledge - are dedicatated to seeing droids improved in the game. So, yes, there is a difference in attitude here.

Prior to the holocron craze, when a new DE came in, he was warned about the grind first, and then, advised as how to advance through the profession. On my server, I have helped a number of aspiring DE's with advice, free training, etc. Yes, they will be my competitors one day, but the profession has so many flaws that there is a feeling of unity amoung many of us.

If you were to go through these boards and look at the constructive posts on how to improve the profession, you would find more good, non-rant ideas here than on almost any other board.

So, when you come along and say "I am gonna blow through this profession and then drop it like used toilet paper" don't expect to get help. It is rude and insulting to a group of people who have striven to make the DE profession better for months with no dev love.

In closing, consider what the results of making this profession better will be. Of course, on the surface, people will say, well, DE's will make more money. True. But the real result will be that YOU will have cool droids to use. You might even get an R2 that will be worthy of a Jedi master.

Well, just like the wanna-be Jedi's don't give "toilet paper" about us, the same for them. That's why I'm not offering any help and will never sell a Jedi a Droid, unless he's a friend. Blow through the profession all you want. Remember, holocrons are only HINTS, they are not the path to being a Jedi. Most of you will never make Jedi anyway.

....maybe one of the components they need to make a lighsaber should be a DE part...

Found this post over on the architect forums:

http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=architect&message.id=36385

In it, a holo-chaser is asking for a mentor that he can fill orders for.

I wish the droid experience system allowed us to get decent experience for droids we make, and not for just a few selected components....

Thats sad to hear Puck =(. Not all of us are bad people. I for one am very proud of that first R4 Advanced Droid Chassis that is sitting next to my crafting station. I am enjoying this profession very much, and the fruits of my labors are very interesting as well. It was great to see a BH walk off yesterday with some of my own Seeker droids under his arm.

Just because I am here as part of my holocron quest doesnt mean that I am not enjoying myself. You guys have to keep your minds open to those of us who are actually taking the time to experiment with this profession no matter the ammount of time we spend in it.

I think the thing is that its just getting a lot easyer to ignore all holo chasers regardelss of whether or not they are behaving themselves. Like when you where in school did the whole class including you ever get in trouble from the actions of the majority? thats because it was then and is now a lot easyer to lump all the potential offendors together and treat them the same. Im not saying i condone it just that thats the way it is...

Hey guys!

Ima new Droid Engineer. I am not a holocron follower at all. I used to be Teras Kasi (since game started) but I got tired of combat and switched to Droid Engineer. I am only a novice right now, but crafting more and more each day. I repeat I am NOT a FSCS seeker, I am just new to the profession and I was wondering if there was a place I could check what all the different droids do. I mean, I know what surgical droids and seekers are for.... But what exactly IS an MSE Mouse FOR?

lol

Thanks guys! I hope to be DE for a long time to come.

Kahtok-

Please look at the threads pinned at the top of the forum.

You will find some great FAQ's and links to guides.

Welcome to DE.... and be warned... it is a long road, but a rewarding one, if you like crafting / socializing.

And... even if you really are a HoloSeeker, your post would merit a polite response - you asked for Droid and Module information, not for "How to become a DE in 7 hours"
