Thread: I guess the worst they can do is ban me

TH, next time just do that in the first place. Put it on the In Concept board, not the "In Live" board. Also, you must admit that your initial wording sounded an awful lot like it was set in stone, and that's the way we wanted it. That's what got everyone so upset, and that's what should have been prevented in the first place through better communication.
I applaud you for what you're doing today, thank you.
Guys,
From what I recall, the issue of what DEs are and what they should be was brought up months ago when Sintrosi was still around, and Idistincly remember everyone saying that wewere crafters - not combat guys. That's what TH was talking about. The Devs have been working on these issues for more than two weeks - c'mon. It takes months to get anything developed in any kind of game, especially one of this size- don't think that this idea just came up two weeks ago. That's nuts.
What I would rather you have done is argued for Drasch, instead of trying to make him look good by making TH look bad - TH takes a lot of crap that's unnecessary because everyone around here seems to think that it only takes 5 minutes to design game sweeping changes, when in reality it takes months.
"What does the entertainment correspondent or the pistoleer correspondent, for instance, know about being a DE?"
Well, I'm a DE, Rifleman, Ranger, Scout, Combat Medic, Medic, Marksman, Bounty Hunter,Artisan, Politician. One thing that the correspondents have is a lot of knowledge and a willingness to put in tonsof time outside of the game to help make it better.Don't think that because we're not the correspondent for an issue that wedon'thave good ideas. Somepretty good ideas for Scouts came from other correspondents. But the DE correspondent has the final word because he's getting the input from you guys. I can make a post about my opinion, but it'll never carry the weight of the community. That's Drash's job.
"Nothing good comes from secrecy anddishonesty and self-service growin the dark. We all pay the same fee and should all have the same say in how this game is developed."
First of all, plenty of good things come from secrecy. I love hot dogs, and I sure don't want to see how they're made. Same with legislation. You've proved my point by taking a half-finished thread and posting it when there have been another 30 replies to it since then, and there was a whole line of conversation leading up to it that you didn't see. And EVERYONE has the same say in how the game is developed - you do it through your correspondents. You said it yourself - Drash was doing his job by telling TH you guys didn't like the idea.
Look - this isn't my fight. I only came here because this post is unfair because it doesn't show the entire story. Now TH is going to have to waste his valuable time coming in here and explaining himself when he could be using it to get your ideas in front of the Devs. That hurts us all.
TH isn't a liar - he's doing the best that he can.

Not that this matters much at this point, but notice no denial from TH. No damage control either. Kind of curious either way you look at it.
There isn't anything there that needs denial or damage control.
Then why post here, right now? If you don't need to do this, I shouldn't even be seeing you in this thread.
1. I went to Drashk with what the current dev plan was (the process was transparent).
Okay...that is as it's supposed to be, obviously.
2. Drashk said no way (he clearly communicated your wishes)
Obviously not, since you then posted to the Forums (and not even OUR forum) that this was all but a done deal. Shall I go copy/paste the text for you?
Maybe you should admit you were wrong, apologize on getting 'caught' on this and see if we can help you out.
3. I told Drashk what the challenges we need to over come would be (which he posted).
Okay...well, I don't recall seeing these posted. Maybe I did and I just don't know it.
4. I made a casual comment in the weekly comment thread (to find out what non-DE's thoughts were).
No.................................
You made an OFFICIAL comment (THAT'S WHAT YOU DO, MAN!!!!....or didn't you KNOW that?!?!) in the Weekly Roundtable thread.
The statement was that DEs were "very clear" that we wanted a DH profession.
You KNOW that to be false. I can read. I can see what Drashk told you.
At the very best, you ignored him and his statements.
At the very worst, you outright misrepresented the truth (and that's called.....a lie).
5. People protested the change (which was loud and clear).
Yes....as we should have. And, you should have KNOWN that we would, just like Drashk warned you would happened!!!
This tells me that you did NOT listen!
If you had listened, you'd have NEVER posted that to any public forum.
6. I've gone to the Dev team to urge them to re-consider.
Yea....I bet you have. I think a roughly 200:1 poll showing you the error of your ways would probably sway your decision to start listening to us.
7. Runesabre is creating a post right now which will explain all the angles to the discussion.
/yawn
Drask brought the challenge to the community and its being discussed.
Only after it was made public, yes. This would NEVER have gotten discussed to this degree if you all had your way....of that I am VERY sure.
I brought the challenges to the rest of the community and its being discussed.
Okay...so...why wasn't this done earlier?
Oh...that's right...you weren't listening to us. You didn't realize that you'd actually need to bring these challenges to the community.
Maybe someday someone there will start actually paying attention to what we are all griping about with regard to communication.
Its a sound plan and nothing was hidden.
I can't believe you just said that.

I have to agree there. This discussion is good and seems to be getting somehwere. (decent ideas so far anyway).
I don't feel like anything is set in stone yet either...
Its not set in stone, which is why Im getting the issue out into the open.
Uhhhh...noooooooooooo!!!
WE got it the issue out in the open, mah man!
You're talking about it now because you have to, not because you want to....
I'm very, very certain that the 'powers-that-be' would not have mentioned a word of this to us had we not spilled the beans on you before you were ready.
If you really believe that you don't have anything to account for here, why are you here in this thread doing that very thing?
Grow up.

Respectfully,
Yeah, #4 was the one I had a teensy problem with .... just a little too revisionist for me.
I have a serious problem with number four as well.
TH, if you are reading this, consider the following things we have been told:
- The probot nerf will only last for a very sort while.
- You will see new combat droids (low level) appear in Jan, and mid to high level in march.
- Droids are our top priority.
Right now, there is a lot of bitterness and cynicism in the DE community. From what we can see, all of our very constructive ideas about the multitude of new droid modules has gone unheard, as was the thousands of constructive posts made about how combat droids could be integrated into the game.
I am not flaming here - but realize that DE's know that none of the devs play a hard core crafting profession, that the DE dev was pulled away from DE for months to do vehicles (which, I'll admit, are very cool), and that various red names have made some statements about droids and DE's which appear to be somewhat uninformed.
So, I guess that if there is hostility and a lack of trust, it is because we as players feel pretty neglected and ignored still.
In closing, you have to realize that DE's play the class because it is the epitome of Star Wars in many ways. The changes we seek aren't to make millions of credits (could be a weapon smith if I wanted to do that), and they aren't to make us more "uber". They are to enhance the game for a broad base of people.

Thunderheart: "So what we'll have is a Droid Engineer profession and a Droid Handling profession. All players will have access to combat droids up to level 10 and DH's will get a wide range of heavy combat droids to handle."
This is, just so you're aware, NOT a "casual comment".
That's an announcement of intent, if I've ever heard one.
You made an announcement of something that you knew to be false or should have known to be false.
In my book, that's called either:
1) A lie
2) Ineptitude
Convince me otherwise.

Respectfully,
Hmmm....I see.
In legal circles, silence is understood to be an affirmative.
I guess that means that you now agree that you've been a bad boy, TH.
Don't make me spank you again.

Nah, TK... His silence is because he's dialing up Jeassa right now, probably to ban the voice of truth that rings out so eloquently from these boards.

You know, it would do TH's credibility a lot of good if we saw that "uberpost" we were promised today.
