Don't act as if the Holocron MADE you do anything. You willingly and knowingly sought it out and now you want us to believe it somehow FORCED you to become a DE? heheh Thats uterly pathetic.
I never said I didn't choose to drop what I was doing and follow the holocron. I just implied that SOE forced us (yes FORCED) to do this to get to what we want. SOE forces you get master DE to make level 6 med modules, or did I get that wrong? SOE forces you do lots of stuff to get what you want. If you prefer different words, MAKES, REQUIRES, REQUESTS, INSISTS. What is so pathetic about understanding the price we pay to get what we want?
What IS utterly pathetic are the responses to holocron DEs who NEVER asked for a single piece of advice regarding xp gain.
I had planned on staying DE, or at least coming back to it if a holocron REQUESTS that I get another skill.... but not so sure I like the bitter company.
Well, I would like to point out that I have never flamed or attacked anyone deliberately on these boards.. and generaly just leave the DE Holocron threads alone.. I also posted what I believed to be a valid explenation for the hostilities in a very nice professionaly calm manner... so please don't assume that everyone is out for blood here.
However, I've had a look around the other boards and fact is, just about everyone else is treating Holocron Hunters the same as they are being treated here.. ESPECIALY the crafting professions.
Yes, people here get angry.
Yes, people will not refrain from giving you a piece of their mind.
Yes, people may even go as far as being pettty at times.
But you need to look at this from the THEIR point of view before taking such a defensive stance ... as a crafting profession who solely relies on the trade of the items we produce, someone coming into the profession .. grinding to MDE in a week, selling off a few droids at rediculous prices to try and make up some of the money lost in the grind and then quitting to go do the same in another profession can be VERY damaging to everyone esle trying to play this game as a Droid Engineer (or whatever).
Many customers judge crafters and their crafted items on what they've seen other people using and from what other people have to say. If a Holocron Hunter sells someone a dodgy droid for a stupid price and since he's quitting next week doesn't really give a fly crap, he has potentialy lost any other DE on that server a customer. Not only that, but has potentialy damaged the reputation of the Droid Engineering profession on that server.
Whether you agree with me or not, whether you find what Sintrosi posted right, wrong or whatever ... the bottom line remains the same .... the problem here is people constantly posting new posts DAILY asking for ways to grind to Master Droid Engineer and this is a problem we, as a community, need to resolve. And since we arnt able to lock/delete posts our only option is what Sintrosi has suggested .. ignore or 1-star.
Please stop looking too deeply into Sintrosi's original post and take offense at it. Be mature and understand that this is a functioning forum that is cluttered with useless posts that could be avoided by doing a simple search.
All,
As a person who cares not about holocrons and has spent 4 plus months in the profession I can tell you, the bitterness is going to be our end.
Has anybody stopped to think its being bitter that is holding us back? Thunderheart asks for suggestions on what to do to fix us and all he gets are pages of people flaming each other back and forth? Think about it
Most people I run into from other professions had negativeexperiences with droid engs. In fact some of them are shocked that I am nice and will take my time out to help them with questions or direct them to a MDE if they need something I can't make.
Yes people asking about macros is annoying but it is being done on every single board. It also was being done way before the holocron craze. Do a search in weaponsmith and you will find quite a few interesting flame wars going back to day 1 regarding this issue.
You know whatI am bitter, I'm negative and I've been taking it out on my other friends who play. And I had to force myself to make an effort not to be. Battered wife syndrome is a perfect description for us. I havebeen hanging on forever thinking things will get better...or that I've invested too much time in this "relationship" to let go. But this gamehas no contentand working in a broken profession is frustrating and boring. If we want things to change we need to be uber friendly. Uber friendly is the only thing that is going to get people to come here, know us and our profession and fight for our honor.
Don't knock the power grinding holocron de's. Some of them might stay and like it and help raise our voices to other forums. Trust me right now most people think we are cranks and jerks and that is just sad.
Please lets just get along!![]()

I am a Holocron DE.
I also posted a macro (that i never used mainly because of the lack of a draft schematic I was needing) in an attept to help fellow gamers.
I have actually grown quite fond of the profession... somehow... as broken and useless are we are at the moment.
If someone could sit behind the pc with a macro running, they could use crafting tooks on hotkeys and do it just as quick.
While it does get to you seeing the same post over and over, those people are paying customers also. I dont have any hard feeling about them wanting to get through DE as quick as they can.
I am a couple million credits lighter in the bank account andI have sold ZERO droids. But in spite of this I am still enjoying DE.
As much as I will hate to drop DE to continue the holocron craze I will. But I have every intention of picking it back up when its all said and done. I never thought I would enjoy a crafting profession.... untill I gave it a chance, a chance that using a marco would have taken away from me.
I have to agree with this. I got DE off my holo and though NOOOOOooo!! But after messing around for a while (even though I have only made it to blueprints one..) I like making low level R5 droids for people and coloring them for them. I will pursue the holocron chores but I think that I would like to come back to droid engineer.
Aside from all that, thanks for the help, sorry that us holo grinders are messing up your forums. Thanks for all the help again! ![]()
I don't see what the big deal is about the questions from "Holocron DEs". If you don't want to read/answer the posts - don't.
I get tired of all the posts demanding droideka, demanding attention, demanding whatever. However, I don't start telling people to check the older posts when yet another "we need..." post comes up.
The class is what it is. Either play it or don't, but all the complaints are tiresome. I would understand making suggestions and whatnot if there was any evidence that it actually did any good, but from what I have seen in this game so far, the customer opinion seems to mean very little. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of things about the DE class that I would like to see changed, but I also don't think that endless posts about it are going to help.
If anyone is wondering, I'm a DE by choice - not by holocron.
It's the WAY some hologrinders ask the questions. Some of you didn't read my post very carefully.
What purpose does saying "i'm here because of a holocron" serve on this forum?
ZERO
It doesn't help, and it's not necessary. Why tell us that? Why? The only thing it does is insult those of us who actually care about our profession. What is the motivation for telling us that?
Instead of the tiny brained freaks that have come in here saying:
Example 1: "lololol uer prof iz borken but I haf 2 mastah cuz of da holocrooom so giv meh teh ubare mecro plzkthxroflyaya"
They could have simply asked:
Example 2: "Can someone point me to some good threads that have info about getting to master DE? I'm not sure which items to make, or what materials I might need. Also, if any of you have some helpful macros that could reduce the number of clicks to make each item, I'd really appreciate it."
You know what? I have all of that. I would have gladly explained it to a sincere polite, considerate person. Just as was done for me, when I asked the question just like that. I refuse to spend any positive efforts on a person that approaches us like example 1 though.
It's all about your approach. We grow weary of the first, and you can pretend it's not a big deal and excuse it all you want, but it's just not right.
Some of you come in here (and other profession forums, yes I'm a chef too)with disrespect and contempt, and you deserve to get it back 10 fold.
Thanks again for posting this thread Sin. I wish every correspondent would do this in their respective forums. Perhaps then SOE would see how awful and destructive this jedi system is to their game.
Then explain why my post last night was immediately one-starred? It's on page 2 or 3, go read it. Yes, I said I was a holo DE, but would you have rather I lied to you?

We have the information here for everyone, all they have to do is SEARCH for it. I have seen three times in the last 2 days for people looking for the same "macro to grind in 7 hours"
I do not hate the Holocron junkies. I will not participate in it. Just take time to smell the roses learn some stuff about the profession. Then we can have a discussion about the macro or some more tips on how to run your Droid Business

Once again.... The original post on this thread is speaking about the holocron DEs who come here and spam up our forums and don't bother to see if what they seek is already here. The rest of you who come here and actualy search (expending the massive energy it takes to click on and read a few key threads) and find your own answers, You are more than welcome here and "kudos" to you.
This thread is becomming a prime example of people who take things personaly that are not directed at them.
Read the ENTIRE first post in this thread.
Check out this thread in the Architect forum:
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=architect&message.id=35817
It is about someone who ground to master arch in 6 hours, then got merchant for his backup profession, and is going to flood the market with cheap stuff with his new mastery of architect so he can master merchant as fast as he can.
He says that this is his plan, because he wants to get his FS Slot. He also says that he realizes that it is wrong, but he is going to do it anyway.
This is the sort of thing that raises the level of animosity towards some of the holo-chasers. They blow through a crafting profession, undermine the market, give it a bad name, and then they are gone.
THANK YOU SINTROSI!!!
About time someone stands up to all these kiddie FSCS types. I hate that crap. If you want to make Jedi, GREAT! But find your own way and don't disgrace a profession by asking how to get through it as quick as possible. Some of us take pride and enjoy what we do. I'm sick of seeing their posts here and on the Merchant boards. Just frickin play the game and quit worrying about how soon you makeJedi. You will eventually. What fun is playing this game if you have to master everything in a week?
Tereri (hoping every newbie Jedi uses a power near him so he can kill them outright, and hoping the perma-death stays in the game for all these Jedi-wannabe's)

Maybe you guys are just a tad bit elitist about all of this? Just something to think about.
Yes, you are right. I do feel a slight sense of Elitism, but I figure that is because I have mastered an Elite class.
And I sometimes get that "martyr" feeling when the Commandos tell me they have no desire to use anything I have to offer.
WhatI worry about most though, is what will happen when we get our overhaul and suddenly become "cool"? I'm sure the population of Droid Engineers will grow, and all of us old stone wall die-hards will probably look down on those newcomers. And that will be because we showed perserverance and determination and had a part in the making of the new "flavor-of-the-month", while the newcomers are just following the fad, and will probably move on when some other class gets attention.I wonder how many newly created Droid Engineers will then become newly created Squad Leaders.
So, yes, I admit that I am proud of our small community. It makes me feel more individual than all those Pistoleers, Commandos, and CH dabblers.

But the hostile environment you've created isn't condusive to anything. Yeah, I got a holo that told me to DE, and I posted about it last night. Didn't ask for a macro or anything, I just said hello. I was immediately one-starred.

For what it's worth, I went back and read your post, and I don't think it merited a one-star. I do not think the original intent was to set up a hostile environment, but like everything else on these boards, some people are going to run with it.
I've seen people on this board being very helpful to newcomers. I think your post just happened to hit at a bad time and got you tarred with an over-broad brush. If you want to really give DE a try, then I hope you'll understand that when you came in we were getting hit by a lot of rude Jedi wannabes, emotions were running high, and you sort of got hit in the crossfire.
What we're insulted at is the temerity of those who come in, aren't even interested in looking around, expect us to drop everything and hold their hands while they use us as a stepping stone, and then accuse us of being rude when that offends us. That isn't elitism. That's just basic self-respect.
As I said, I think one-starring your post was probably a mistake on someone's part, an itchy trigger finger of sorts. It's certainly plausible for someone to pull a profession from a hat and then decide to approach it with a sincere attitude. While I don't think we have any obligation to put up with the kind of treatment I described in the previous paragraph, I do think we old-timers should be careful to distinguish between one kind and the other.
Whatever your reason for becoming a DE, if you want to actually learn about the profession, I will be glad to help you however I can. If you don't want to learn about the profession, and just want to get in and out as quickly as possible, then more power to you, but get it yourself. For me, that's pretty much all there is to it.
