Thread: Request to DEs who don't want to use our high end combat droids.
No, you are not trying to be competitive, you are trying to have you cake and eat it too.
Devs gave you 250 skill points, you used them all. Now you are refusing to change you playstyle, and are trying to change the game to give you an advantage you didn't earn.
I didn't want to give up my DE skills. If didn't want to give up all my hard earned commando skills except FT. I didn't want to give up all my pistoleer skills except pistol-whip. I didn't want to give up all my organic chemistry skills.
HOWEVER, I did want to participate in the hunt for FSCS, and giving up skills was the only way to do so.
You now say that you, and a person who has used ALL of his skill points on artisan skills, wants to participate in the combat driven story lines.
The answer is obvious. The game doesn't need to change, you need to change. You can't have EVERYTHING in game...you have to make choices and sacrifices. If you are unwilling to be flexible, then you don't deserve to participate. You made you bed...lie in it, or change the sheets.
I pulled the number out of my @$$ as a best guess from what I see on the board here, thats where it comes from.
There are no weapon certs in CH so why are they a combet class ? CH is based off of scout and NONE of the combat basic skill trees, so why are they a combat class ?
And what person said that an artisan should never ever ever have a decent chance in combat ? Besides I'm all for ALL classes getting things unique to them atr master. I wouldn't mind seeing Tailors get unique clothing items only they can wear, or an architect getting a building only he can own, or armorsmiths getting unique armor only they can wear....etc...would make a nice status symbol for masters in elite professions.
Anyway, time for bed, I have to work tomorrow, as I said earlier this thread isn't really for the debate...its to tell both sides to stop implying they represent everyone.
you keep on thinking im asking for some uber-combat droid. I don't want an uber combat droid, for anyone. I really dont want to see all the creatures in the game replaced with armies of rolling droidekas. I hate^3939734793497843 the pet wars. I want less pets. I just want something to replace my sludge panther.
And I do have everything. I have 0-3-0-0 carbineer *kiss* crippling shot. *kiss*
And now I will go lie in my bed, but only because somenot too recent back surgery requires me not to sit anymore or face a lot of pain that this thread surely isnt worth.

I hope you heal quickly. Surgery sucks. You need to have a flat panel monitor installed above your bed. ![]()

I will reserve judgement on the "high end combat droids" until I actually see "high end combat droids."
But as DE is primarily a crafting profession (in that NO combat or combat support experience is a prerequisite for being a DE), I don't see how it is justified that BAM! at master DE (or whatever level) we all of a sudden become a powerful combat class.
Creature Handler needs no combat xp to get to CH nor to level. Sure its slow only taming and training, but its about as bad a grind as DE's have. Also having one combat droid out, wouldn't put us up in the ranks of a powerfull combat class. I really doubt that we could equal a non-combat based CH with a gnarled rancor.
I may not be a DE right now, since I decided to reroll the char (got tired of being a squid, didn't want to wait for my stat migration and was fed up with the grind to MDE with no new info from the devs) and this came out a week afterwards, I still am very interested in DE's getting some love. I would come back to the prof just because of that.
I beg to differ. There is no way to get up the scout tree without either: 1) hunting and harvesting creatures or 2) running around with a hunting group, and harvesting creatures or 3) throwing traps at creatures.
There is combat involved there. I didn't say they were pure combat professions, but I place scout as a "combat support" profession.
You could make master DE without ever leaving town, ever being in a hunting group, or ever even owning a weapon.

Once you have mask scent, you never have to fire a gun or harvest. I got to Exploration II without even working up my marksman skills. It took mefour days running around on Dath and Dant surveying to get Exploration and Hunting to IV, the prerequisites for CH.
You don't need to own a weapon to go up the scouting tree. You can sit in a group, making tents and harvesting the kills to get to mask scent.
I don't want DE to turn into an uber combat class, just like everyone else, but stop using the comparisan that CH is a combat or combat support class. Heck,90% of theclassesfall into thecombat supportcategory in some way.
A DE should be able to make combat droids. A DE should be able to use those droids. A DE should also be able to sell them too. Give a few modules or some slightly changed chasis to MDE as a perk for being a master, that only they can use if no specific combat droid.
I don't want to see anything as drastic as having 10 Probots out, though that wouldn't be much firepower (woohoo 500 total damage every 5 seconds! yay!), but give DE's something to look forward to besides just selling droids.
I didn't become a DE to turn a profit, I did it to help out some rl friends flushing out our group, same with Architect. I did that so I could make free houses for my friends. I am more team oriented then focused on me. I don't want to be able to go out and solo Kunga's on Dant, but how abouta droidbeing able to help me kill some reptilian fliers on Dath?
I don't really think DE-only droids are that important as long as DEs can use all droids they can make. A MDE-only droid would be cool for prestige and balance purposes.
Here is what I propose now:
New but basic combat droids for all. Maybe Battle Droids.
New and stronger combat droids with certs for combat professions. Preferably Droidekas.
DEs can use all the droids they make
This is a good balance, no? I would much prefer to see droids than creatures running around. I don't think noobs should be able to get the very best combat droids out there, but certainly beefed up probots and any new basic combat droids with similar stats.
I really wish our crafter-only brothers and sisters would be gracious enough to side with us on DEs being able to use all droids. You can still play your character as a pure crafter.
hmm what are DEs now; they are crafters with broken products and little bussines.
what will they be made by the DE Plan; they will be Crafters with more market and more products and will get some combat skills (not as much as a combat profession while using the same amount of skillpoints)
so both sides (crafter and crafters with harvester runs and some field activity) will be happy thou they both say dont give the other side something. this is ideotic and is caused by a minority cause normal people arentspendingmuch timewith such nonesense.
when DEs can fight a little they dont loose their crafting skill nor their market k.

It takes 92 skill points to fully Master DE. That leaves you 158 to take up combat skills to keep you from being gimpy.
If you want to be a combateer, take up combat professions. If you want to havea bunch of powerful pets, take up CH. Otherwise, don't bitch that you can't fight because you decided to craft.
By the way, I am currently a Commando/Pistoleer/Medic/DE...I am FAR from gimpy. You get no sympathy from me because you suck at combat.
I have to say, if combat droids suck, who the heck is going to buy them?????
If DE combat droids don't compare to CH combat pets, what the heck good are they? What market will they have? People look for the biggest bang for their buck (and SP). If droids don't deliver, they'll get left behind for something that does.
If you're serious about DE then where's master Artisan?
If you want to sell droids then where are your Merchant skills?
This from a DE (not master yet), Artisan, Merchant with support Marskman, Medic and Scout skills which I'm slowly dropping. And only TWO points left.
Eventually, I won't be able to take on anything I can't kick to death, and if I get injured won't be able to heal myself, and won't be able to run away because everything will be faster than I am.
If I had a good combat droid I might be able to do stuff with some of my combat friends. That doesn't mean I 'suck' any more than you do just because you decided to pick up a little DE.
Have you gotten close to mastering DE or haven't you given up points for that yet???
My point is, different people have different goals. You wanted higher combat skills. Some of us want higher crafting skills. Notice the order we each listed our professions/skills.....
It depends on playstyle and goals. Doesn't it?

You are TOTALLY missing the point.
I am saying make better combat droids, but let all classes use them.
Droid-Creator is make better combat droids, limit them to DEs.
In BOTH solutions, you get a better droid to help you survive. However,DC is refusing to let DEs sell these droids to others.
THAT is the argument.
By the way, If you had read this thread instead of skimming, you would have seen most of your questions answered. I don't need merchant skills because I sold fact to face and delivered. Merchants suck, because no one wants to run all the way out to your house to buy a droid, and because you have to meet the people to give them a waypoint to you house in the first place (why not just sell it right there?) You don't need master artisan or merchant...you need surveying, crafting, and DE...the rest is surplusage.
Dakar, you refuse to actually read what I type don't you ?
I didn't say limit combat droids to DEs, nor have I EVER said that. I said give DEs one top of the line combat droid that is MDE only. We should still be able to make and sell combat droids to other classes, just not that one.
