Thread: New correspondent discussion

My 2 cents:
While I feel that any of the top candidates is capable of doing an outstanding job as correspondent, I have one concern: Is it possible that correspondent duties and time-sinks would interfere with the fine work they are doing today? I'd hate to see the DEA decline because TheWoody is too busy. I'd hate to see the bug list be maintained less. I'd hate to see Drashk stop all those tests and posts.
I guess I'm just raising the issue of overburdening any one individual. Whoever is chosen will have an extra workload, and it behooves the rest of us to help out a bit.
Rho makes a wonderful point. We need someone passionate about droids. Someone who can speak their mind, and find a way to be heard when others aren't always willing to listen. Someone who is able to gather information and present it in a thoughtful and peaceful way.
I would love to take a crack at the Correspondant position, but I have a bad habbit of disappearing off of forums for long periods of time.
While I believe each candidate is more than worthy, I would rather not take them away from the hard work they are already doing that helps us out so much.
Kamayyk posted his nomination earlier. He (making assumptions here) said that he posted all the time, and was usually here even when not posting just taking in information. A person like this would be preferable.
I would also like to (try) to nominate Rho for the position. He (another assumption) has always been here as long as I can remember. He always posts well thought out responses, is passionate about droids, and seems to be a well-spoken and competant individual.
My vote: Rho or Kamayyk (I hate making decisions). The other three would also be great choices, but I'd rather not take them away from their work, and rather them give their work their full attention to give to the correspondant.
Ki-Odo, I think Rho has already declined and would rather sit back and guide whomever is chosen.
I hope that I don't over step myself, but I'm pretty sure that Gorantothor TheWoodywouldn't have a problem with adding Correspondent to their considerable 'to do list', nor would I.

Hmm...must have missed that post. In that case...uh...I'd have to vote for all three. As I said, I hate making up my mind.
It looks like the main runners are Gorantoth, TheWoody and Drashk.
All three, IMO, would be worthy.
Now, it would be nice for each of them to post what THEY would personally like to see as the future of the DE profession here.
I beleive that all three would pass along the concensus of the DE community if they agreed with or not - but would still love to hear a summary of their views on what should happen for us next ![]()

Wow, thats a tough one to post about, in my opinion, but I'll give it a shot.
First and foremost, I want to see a lot, if not all, of the currentissues addressed. My list of items that I would like to see fixed in the next few patches are, in order of greatest benefit
- The issue with Cluster Modules being stackable and placeable in any droid is one of the greatestthreat to the DE economy, since it elimanates the need for any other droid type.
- A viable way to repair the normal damage that a droidrecieves, through the use of a repair tool.
- A new Experimentation system that accounts for all aspects of each droid and has a notciable difference. Something akin to the experimentation system that Weaponsmiths have would be a welcome change from the 'cookie cutter droid'..
- Droid charges to last longer than 30 minutes. Once every 2-3 hours would go a long way to increase the usefulness of any droid.
- New Combat droid types, based on a very wide spectrum cert system.
- The ability to place modules in the Protocol Droid, BLL and Advanced BLL
- New modules types to help tie in other professions, such as an Entertainers module, a Smugglers module, or the plethora of other modules that have been suggested on this forum.
- Every module working in every single droid, in the way that it was intended to.
- Giving specific droids additional function through the use of the modules installed. It would be nice to give each droid a specific function, but since it is unlikely that the module functionality will ever be removed, why not let a droid unlock abilities through the installation of certain module. A BLL with a repair module could have the ability to repair a structure over time, or an LE with a repair module could repair a Vehicle.
- The ability calla second droid for DEs and those that have qualified to do so.
- Module and information listings in the datapad and on Droid Deeds.
I could keep generating this list, but I think that I would be wasting character space by doing so, since it hits upon so many of the items that have been listed time and time again.
I want to see every single person on every single server owning at least 1 droid. The only way that this can be done is if Droids are placed back into the heart of SWG.Now that a few of the major features have been added in, namely Player Cities, Mounts, and Vehicles, Droids are on the top of the list, where they should have been from the begining.

as if it matter...
I officialy Retract my vote for Woody as he has proven that he is incapable of representing the majority of DEs' oppinions. He represents his own and those of his tight nit circle of friends.
And no, im not on these forums to make friends. Im here to see DE's becaome a Star Wars like profession.
I guess this means I'm the last to respond to the question... and Drashk has already taken all the good answers. ![]()
Personally, I'd love to see the issues list shrink to the point that the only thing remaining are wishlist items. Getting the bugs and uncertainties sorted out is absolute key in my mind. Next is to insure that droids touch every profession in some personal way. We already have it with Medics,Bounty Hunters, Artisans (et al.) andeven the combatprofessions to a lesser degree. I want to see the DE profession become the glue that holds everything together.
I came here during beta and started as a Droid Engineer because I felt that droids were the most interesting part of the SW universe. Boy was I in for a shock. So now I maintain the list of issues to insure that everyone in this forum is aware of where we stand as a profession. And I thank everyone who has contributed to that list either directly by posting a reply, or indirectly, by posting their bugs and thoughts about the profession and where they wanted to see it go.

I'll second that one! Go Gorantoth!
The crime of not noticing the question first... Drahsk stole all the good answers!
But, I am a man of moderation, and believe that we should all work together. And as such, here is my list on things I'd like to see done with this profession in the next few months:
- The issue with Cluster Modules being stackable and placeable in any droid is one of the greatestthreat to the DE economy, since it elimanates the need for any other droid type.
- A viable way to repair the normal damage that a droidrecieves, through the use of a repair tool.

Some of the more perceptive of you may notice certain similarities between mine and Drashk's post. I would like to assure you that this is just the first demonstration on how, if we work together, we can achieve greater success. I would like to thank him in helping me put together my response to that excellent question.
(Oh, would like to add a quick # 12 to that: Make sure up-coming combat droids don't come out totally unuseable and messed up)
Fine, I vote for Drashk.
As long as it isnt thewoody. I want someone who speaks for US not for himself.
