Gee, I wonder why.

A couple of days ago you actually had something to say about Droid Engineering. Then you get a reply to a PM from a Dev (welcome to the club - it's something that has happened to a lot of us) and suddenly you are Mr. Omnibudsman.

It's because your attitude not only got "positive", it turned elitest and self-important, not to mention very little relevance to the actual topics at hand.

We can see the correspondent boards right now - there is a finally a message from Drashk about our Probots. Very casually TH says, "Oh, have you been to test to check it out?", which is moot since Drashk said he couldn't get on live or test. So that's where it's left. There are people who have written constructive threads on it, and every Dev response we've gotten in the last few days has been to a thread about community, not the actual issues that are going on.

Many of us tolerated your "breakdowns"; you do realize that you came across as rather obnoxious with them, even when the points were valid - after a week of posting a certain way, to suddenly refer to your "famous breakdowns" that "surely the Devs expect this!" was just in very poor taste and shows us exactly where your interests lie - in imagined political position and Dev recognition, NOT in actually getting the issues taken care of. I think those of us that liked what you had to say ignored how in EVERY breakdown you made some self-congratulatory or self-image-affirming statement, but your arrogance has grown so that it's impossible to reply to anything you are writing right now without noting it.

OK, so you are happy go-lucky-now - I happen to find it rather manic, but in any case - START BEING PRODUCTIVE.

Starting a thread about your hurt feelings from being one-starred is not productive, it just speaks to where your priorities are. And the fact that a Dev replies to this and not an actual issue thread...shows that you are making Raph Koster proud - following his recomendations about how to deal with "vocal players" to the T. http://www.legendmud.org/raph/gaming/gdc_2002_community_files/frame.htm#slide0001.htm It's an interesting read.

Stop making this about you, TK. We aren't here to coddle you and make you feel better, we are here to talk about droid engineering. I have seen so little talk of DE from you since your cosmic moment, to be honest I haven't replied much because I had hoped you were just under the influence of some really nasty spice, but after reading your posts today (and you even jokingly refering to a correspondent position), it is even more clear where your priorities lie, and it's not with getting the DE profession fixed.

You fell for it, dude. Hook, line, and sinker.

You have successfully turned the Droid Engineer Forum from a place to discuss the Droid Engineer profession (however heatedly)into a place to debate "happy-kumbaya roles in an online community". If you've gotten one-starred, it's because you have gotten so off topic that most of what you say is totally irrelevant and the most glaring example of rhetoric I have ever seen on these boards.

And in a few weeks when the Devs disapoint you again, and you say, "Just like you guys were anxiously waiting for! One of my super-famous breakdowns!", you will see this all for the great big farce that this is.

I do actually agree with you that I've not been posting DE development stuff.I'm sorry if I've seemed elitist...I assure you that I try NOT to be that. I guess I need to try harder.

I'll latch on to a few of the items in TH's new thread and try to come up with something to say. Right now...errr...it's a bit new. I need to consider these changes a bit.


Note: The Correspondent thing was a...................JOKE. If you look back, you'll see that I didn't WANT the position (nor do I still). I'll try to post with less flash and more substance in the coming weeks (and had been planning to anyway). Thanks for smacking me in the face with my recent faults. It helps to get me back on track.

I'd like to think that us DEs can rise above the CH hate that's been so pervasive since launch. You all are in a MUCH different place now than you were since launch.


Anyway...thanks for helping to lift this board up to a higher place. We DEs and CHs need to find a way to have some kind of reconciliation or something...

You're taking a real beating here, man. I just want you to know that I support you as a person; I know that there's a living, feeling person on the other side of the screen. (As opposed to Kollos, who we all now is secretly a droideka hell bent on controlling the future procreation of his kind -- big time smileywink)

You're taking all of this very personal, which is natural since we humans are social creatures. You are to blame for some of it given that you've made it personal by being perhaps too liberal with your own noteriety. We are to blame for part of it for making you a target for -- *gasp* -- agreeing with the devs on some points. Its probably best if you -- if we all -- focus on the future of the DE community rather than individual members of the community. A little more humility is always helpful, I try to tell myself at least.

Keep going with your doughbacca breakdowns. But focus on the substantive DE issues with less playful allusions to your cult of personality.

You have plenty of supporters and I am one of them. I'm sure you'll win over the detractors by laying off a little (by this last part I mean that jokes and jest about one's greatness are easily misunderstood).

Yes...you know me. I'll be good. I'm still working on some DEA / DENet stuff that I hope will be really cool for everyone and also thinking about when to do the next DEA meeting (since we have a TON to discuss now).

Before the official thread on it....I'm thinking about Sun, Feb. 29th. I like the irony.
