Thread: Wow...some of you really don't like me lately...

I think JustG's quick reply shows that they are making an effort to read the DE boards, which is just another reason to try to be constructive.
I am (by some accounts, not in my own mind) a 'leader' of some sort on the DE boards. I try to change the tone to a positive one so that we can be ready when the interaction really kicks in. Some think me daft.
It may just be possible that JustG proved my point by stepping here. So.....stay 'up' everyone, it really DOES matter now.

TK421, I like you.
And I you....I seem to get along well with the 'fish' in the game. I wonder what THAT is all about?!?!
But to be perfectly honest, the star rating system is crap on these forums. When you're opinionated like myself, you get stars... both 1 and 5.
Yea...that's true. It's just nice to know that I seem to put forth comments that people like enough to even care about 5-starring at all. It means I probably said what I wanted to say correctly, I suppose.
You've provided many interesting, detailed and informative posts, and are considered a cornerstone of the DE community. I only consider a handful of people that.
Well...thanks.I don't know about 'cornerstone', to be honest...there's other player DEs that know a LOT more about droid building and such than I (not that I'm chopped meat though, mind you). I guess I just try to foster the 'funky droid goodness' discussions cause I want to help make droids and DE better. That's all.
I've stopped reading most of the DE forum posts for multiple reasons (I've been busy at work and in life, and tonight is my last night as a Master DE), but your posts are ones I have tried to keep up with.
Thanks...I know what you mean. I've actually moved out of MDE in-game to take a break (when holo'grinding for awhile) but I want to still stay in the DE 'community' that's been built. I have to say that, in that regard, the DEA and DENet has been a wonderful experience to be a part of, so far...that's why I'm trying to so hard to build its expansion and solidify it as an SWG 'icon' that will be in place LONG after any of us have decided to move on. Building something worthwhile and permanent for the profession that I enjoy so much is, for me, how I often find "fun" in the game (and it helps you all too....which I think is neat).
Don't let the 1-star cowards get you down at all.![]()
Nah...I don't really let it get me down. I know that there's a lot of animous on these boards that can't be defeated just because a once-detractor seems to change into a 'turncoat'. It's all good...I have think Wookiee skin.

Man, I respect you a lot and I appreciate your thoughtful contributions to the DE community.
Thanks...you know that I view you in the same light. The fact that you've stepped up on Intrepid speaks volumes to this. You, sir, are one of the DEs that I look up to.

Lately, though, I can't help but feel your trading your usual tenacity for the inside track with the devs.
Errr....hmmmm....well, I'm still the same 'tenacious D' that I've always been. (note: if anyone gets that reference, please give me an AMEN!)
I will systematically and categorically state that I have NO 'inside track' with any Dev. At least, no more (or less)than YOU do,Sodan.
They share NO information with me on our futurethat in any way constitutes some kind of breach of the normal protocols.
In that regard, do you really think that they'd bypass the Correspondent system that they've worked so hard to put in place?
Especially with ME??!?! Of all people?!?!? The author of the "Break-down(tm)"?
Come on, Sodan......give me more credit than that.
You're the second insider to backtrack 100% on your ideals on DH for example.
No...I would say it's more correct that I'm the 2nd veteran DE that's accepted that if I want to get higher-powered combat droids in the game that I'm going to have to sacrifice my vision of what we should be to get what we CAN be.
That's all, Sodan. Please understand, there's a HUGE difference there.
I want better, cooler, fun combat droids in the game YESTERDAY (along with many of my clients). I simply accept, since work has already been done on a lot of this, that this is the best way to get the 'goods'...sooner.
And, that I was kind of not looking out for my clients by shooting down the thing that they wanted to see (irregardless of the skill point cost, etc.).
Not all of us have access to the same information you do.
That is absolutely and 110% false, Sodan. Please don't be such a conspiritorial thinker here. I am not back behind the curtain discussing ANY FUTURE CHANGES with the Devs.
I would expect that you'll not likely believe me regardless of what I say. If you ever trusted me on one issue...trust me on this one. They do NOT give me special 'status', information or believe me special in any way.
Perhaps you have more reason to be "positive" than we do.
No...not really. We are all in the same boat. What's different is that I've taken the leap to try and get the DE boards to 'work' like they used to in the past.
If that means doing something of an about-face, to lead by example, then that's what I'll do.
Along those lines, I've plans to finally finish my long ignored DE focus threads. I hope that we're gonna need them (and love them) in the weeks and months to come.
As far as I can tell, I'm still the master of a profession that hasn't gotten much dev attention and has been at the butt end of a lot of broken promises. They fixed chef before the fixed Droid Engineer; Bantha fodder before R2D2.
I know, my brotha'....I'm there for ya. Just remember, I'm the same DE Wookiee you've always known in the past. The tenacity and passion are still there. They are probably just focused now in a much better way.
Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. I don't want to suffer (with the negativity on the DE boards)anymore, thanks.
With this in mind, forgive me if I don't 5-star your posts as eagerly as I have before.
"You must do what you think is right, of course...."
You told me in-game that being the head of DEA had its privileges and that you going back up to MDE based on the new things coming out. This was before THs new thread. Its not hard to do the math on that one.
You word is good with me, however. If you maintain that your post above reflects reality then I believe you without reservations.
I wont be joining the cheerful bandwagon until I see some real change around here. I bought this game last summer with the sole reason of becoming a DE. I have been, as most have been, decidedly underwhelmed by the state of the profession.
I don't think this board needs a memory wipe. I think it needs a new reality. I've lost track of the number of broken promises that we've had.I won't have faith again until Drashk is posting his views about new droids and bug fixes on the TC.
Again, I appreciate the contributions you've made to this board. Hopefully we will see the light soon on the many things we have all poured so much time and energy into. Until then, its back to the wait-and-see.

Actually...I was going back up anyway. The fact that I knew SOMETHING was coming was true. I did not, however, have any specific details or information as what those "things" were to be when I spoke with you in game.
Being the current head of the DEA doesn't really grant me anything with the Devs (that I'm aware of, anyway). I suppose it might well be that they see me as something of a problematic sounding board to guage the community of DEA members...I dunno. All I know is, I didn't make the decision to go back to MDE with anything other than wanting to do it. Plain and simple.
This was before THs new thread. Its not hard to do the math on that one.
You're trying to do math with imaginary numbers, Sodan. I have had no information or access via my position as current DEA head nor in any other fashion that would be vorbotin to any other player of the game. It's just like that.
You word is good with me, however. If you maintain that your post above reflects reality then I believe you without reservations.
Thanks.

That's okay...I understand that I can't expect everyone to take the new view that I've taken. It's really all about about getting the tone of the DE board better (in addition to trying to ensure that P7 and P8 are as good as they can be for us).
I don't think this board needs a memory wipe. I think it needs a new reality.
Sort of a distinction without a difference...but I think I know what you meant.
I've lost track of the number of broken promises that we've had.I won't have faith again until Drashk is posting his views about new droids and bug fixes on the TC.
Yes...I'm interested to know more about the R2's firing speed.
Again, I appreciate the contributions you've made to this board. Hopefully we will see the light soon on the many things we have all poured so much time and energy into. Until then, its back to the wait-and-see.
Thanks...I think we'll have a lot to talk about at the next DEA meeting. (still gazing and thinking upon TH's latest post.)
Respectfully,
some people have of the current situation and of TK's intentions.
To quote and explain:
"so basically you are suggesting that if everyone is a good little boy that the devs will find
it in their hearts to schedule some to improve droids...what a sad way to run a game..."
That has nothing to do with what he is saying. We are at a point now where the Dev's ARE
working on DE. Bitching to grab their attention is useless now, we have it already. Now is
the time for calm and organized explanations of what DE needs. We also have to understand
some things are not possible or feasible within the game's context.
"Droids effect all of us."
They sure do. This makes patience and fully explored/deconstructed ideas even more
necessary.
"The interaction should have kicked in months ago."
It has been going on for months. Did you mean 'the interaction', or 'the work'?
"I am growing ever wary of this game. It seems you all talk of "the community", same on every board. In reality these communities mostly consist of 5 people who post regualrly and and decide the fate of the game for all of us..."
That's just ridiculous. There are a ton of people that post, but, as with any group, there are a
limited number of people who fall into the roles of leadership. Plus, the Dev's make the game, not
anyone on these forums. I guarantee you that if we actually made the decisions, things would be
completely screwed.
"The players want droids...we wanted them 10 months ago."
10 months ago was April. They game wasn't out yet, and I know we weren't ALL beta testers.
"now we hear that either to use a droid you may have to be a DE or there might be a new profession. (which is basiaclly just a cut and paste of creature handler if you ask me)"
Completely incorrect. Everyone can still use droids. Just like always. They are looking at the
possibility of make a profession that can use multiple high powered combat droids. The only
reason people are so violently opposed to this, is that it wasn't in the game from the beginning.
If it was always this way, no one would have a problem with it.
Everyone seems to accept that they can only use weak pets and mounts, and CH's can use multiple
powerful ones. Why does this concept become unthinkable when applied to droids? No one loses
anything.
"mean while you people do nothing but discuss in thread after thread what kinds of attitudes people should have while the other 99% of the game do without droids."
Umm... I think there was 1 thread about attitudes. Everything else is an unfortunate side effect.
Did someone tell you that there aren't any droids in the game? They were wrong.
Droids just aren't as useful, cool, or bug free as we would like. I don't know what you expect
the Dev's to be able to do with droids, but I'm pretty sure it is not within reason.
Heh heh - just because TK is snarfing down those "special" brownies that SOE sent in the mail doesn't mean that you all have to one-star all his posts....
Though, I want some of those brownies too... ![]()

There's a few people on the Anti-TK bandwagon right now. I have no idea why, to be honest. It's actually starting to get kind of funny.

I think the concept breaks down because there are no player controlled heavy combat droids in the movies. Yeah, you got the trade federation army, but they aren't high powered, they are just high in numbers AND controlled by some central computer up in space. Then you got the destroyer droids which can take on Jedi. That is a little too powerful. Maybe, obviously, I totally admit I am a major stickler for being true to the movies. Way too much am I a stickler, I admit this. Alot of people just give up and not care anymore cuz so much non-Star-Wars content has already flooded the game. But me personally, even as a MDE who will profit from selling them, I think having combat droids isbad. When they chose to make a Star Wars game, they gave up the right to just do what they wanted. To get the instant interest in the game, the instant fan base, they have to sacrifice some of their creative license. Flame away, I don't care, but I think this is just one more step that makes it less Star Warsy. One step forward, 2 steps back. pretty soon, we won't be able to recognize the game (this is my over-exaggerated part of the post, hahaha).
It really seems to be open season on me. I wish I could convince the 1-star crowd that I'm really kind of in their 'court', whether they know it or not.
I guess this means I won't get the nomination for the Correspondent position if Drashk ever steps down.
