Can any of you state the TK doesn't have constructive well-thought ideas, that he hasn't tried to help the community as a whole? No. You can say that you disagree with his ideas, but not that they haven't been constructive.

To be clear, no one is suggesting any thing to the contrary but you, Ackis. Don't try to muddle the debate. Look at my initial reply to this thread.

I know.

It just seemed that the overall turn of this topic might have turned into a flamefest/debate about this issue. You only quoted part of my post, not the most important part which is the first line on it. LOL

I think JustG's quick reply shows that they are making an effort to read the DE boards, which is just another reason to try to be constructive.

Indeed. And...hopefully, it should be a sign to all the naysayers (that think my attitude change here is wrong) that my point is perfectly valid and correct.

I am (by some accounts, not in my own mind) a 'leader' of some sort on the DE boards. I try to change the tone to a positive one so that we can be ready when the interaction really kicks in. Some think me daft.

It may just be possible that JustG proved my point by stepping here. So.....stay 'up' everyone, it really DOES matter now.

so basically you are suggesting that if everyone is a good little boy that the devs will find it in their hearts to schedule some to improve droids...what a sad way to run a game...

Droids effect all of us.

The interaction should have kicked in months ago.

I am growing ever wary of this game. It seems you all talk of "the community", same on every board. In reality these communities mostly consist of 5 people who post regualrly and and decide the fate of the game for all of us...

The players want droids...we wanted them 10 months ago. now we hear that either to use a droid you may have to be a DE or there might be a new profession. (which is basiaclly just a cut and paste of creature handler if you ask me)

mean while you people do nothing but discuss in thread after thread what kinds of attitudes people should have while the other 99% of the game do withoutdroids.

That's one heck of a lot of 1-starring.

I'm not sure how calling on the folk that frequent the DE boards to try to be positive/constructive and upbeat garnered such animous in my direction...I am only wanting to see the forums be a fun/positive place again.

sheesh...what did I do?!?

I'm still with you. I like your posts and repsect your point of view even when I don't agree with you. You'll get no 1-starring from me, that's a promise.

Man, I respect you a lot and I appreciate your thoughtful contributions to the DE community.

Thanks...you know that I view you in the same light. The fact that you've stepped up on Intrepid speaks volumes to this. You, sir, are one of the DEs that I look up to.

/salute

Lately, though, I can't help but feel your trading your usual tenacity for the inside track with the devs.

Errr....hmmmm....well, I'm still the same 'tenacious D' that I've always been. (note: if anyone gets that reference, please give me an AMEN!)

I will systematically and categorically state that I have NO 'inside track' with any Dev. At least, no more (or less)than YOU do,Sodan.

They share NO information with me on our futurethat in any way constitutes some kind of breach of the normal protocols.

In that regard, do you really think that they'd bypass the Correspondent system that they've worked so hard to put in place?

Especially with ME??!?! Of all people?!?!? The author of the "Break-down(tm)"?

Come on, Sodan......give me more credit than that.

You're the second insider to backtrack 100% on your ideals on DH for example.

No...I would say it's more correct that I'm the 2nd veteran DE that's accepted that if I want to get higher-powered combat droids in the game that I'm going to have to sacrifice my vision of what we should be to get what we CAN be.

That's all, Sodan. Please understand, there's a HUGE difference there.

I want better, cooler, fun combat droids in the game YESTERDAY (along with many of my clients). I simply accept, since work has already been done on a lot of this, that this is the best way to get the 'goods'...sooner.

And, that I was kind of not looking out for my clients by shooting down the thing that they wanted to see (irregardless of the skill point cost, etc.).

Not all of us have access to the same information you do.

That is absolutely and 110% false, Sodan. Please don't be such a conspiritorial thinker here. I am not back behind the curtain discussing ANY FUTURE CHANGES with the Devs.

I would expect that you'll not likely believe me regardless of what I say. If you ever trusted me on one issue...trust me on this one. They do NOT give me special 'status', information or believe me special in any way.

Perhaps you have more reason to be "positive" than we do.

No...not really. We are all in the same boat. What's different is that I've taken the leap to try and get the DE boards to 'work' like they used to in the past.

If that means doing something of an about-face, to lead by example, then that's what I'll do.

Along those lines, I've plans to finally finish my long ignored DE focus threads. I hope that we're gonna need them (and love them) in the weeks and months to come.

As far as I can tell, I'm still the master of a profession that hasn't gotten much dev attention and has been at the butt end of a lot of broken promises. They fixed chef before the fixed Droid Engineer; Bantha fodder before R2D2.

I know, my brotha'....I'm there for ya. Just remember, I'm the same DE Wookiee you've always known in the past. The tenacity and passion are still there. They are probably just focused now in a much better way.

Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering. I don't want to suffer (with the negativity on the DE boards)anymore, thanks.

With this in mind, forgive me if I don't 5-star your posts as eagerly as I have before.

I hate to say it, but it does look like TK did indeed get an inside track somehow.

Exactly why do you say this? Seriously?

You think the Devs are gonna feed me...............ME................some kind of 'secret' information?

Come on, Sketh. You know better than that.

I didn't do (nor have I done) anything that is ANY different from what any of you could do.....I mean it.

I post...I send a PM to a Dev once in a while...and every once in awhile, they answer. It's as simple as that.

The posts that they send me NEVER contain any kind of inside track information. I've never requested it. I don't want it.

What I DO want is for us veterans to set down the swords and pick up the ploughshears that we used to weild so very well.

Now, what I wonder, if there is information out there that can make even TK change his mind about things, why can't the rest of us have access to it?

Man..I'm gonna have to fight this perception forever now. /sigh

I'm not sure how to say this so that you will all lay off on me. I try to be positive. I try to be uplifting. That's all.

Have I PM'ed (and received responses from) the Devs? Yes. So can you. So can anyone.

That doesn't mean that they are sharing development information on our future (that's as yet unreleased) with me.

Are you seriously suggesting that this is what's happening?

If so, I'm more concerned now about THAT issue on these boards than I am with the negativity.

I'd hope that you might all keep in mind the time and energy that I have spent in doing my part to build the DE community (Focus Threads, involvement in the DEA and DENet, etc.). Do you really think that I'd somehow go behind the back of the very community that I try to be an advocate for?

Do you?!?

Something is going wrong

At first only Devs couldn´t stand critical statements and invested more time in telling their paying customers, how they are allowed toexpress their concerns about a great game that is suffering of devastating bugs.

Now it isn´t only dev s complaining, we´re starting to waste time, by negotiating Starswe give each other, for our statements here. That´s Kindergarten.

Since the incredible "misunderstandings" of TH concerning the attitudes of the DE community, there has been a very positive development in Dev-Comunication by now, they´re actually reading a lot of posts, send posts themselfs, try to answer us in a constructive way. Sometimes I evenget the amazing impression, they try there best to see us happy (well they try... )) ) - So,TK, drink a beer, look at all those stars in the skyand get backto busniess.Find solutions for a better gameplay and keep pointing out bugs and strange communication issues like in the old days.

Heh, no point really paying attention to that stat.. Ratings given are for the most part random (or expected, depending on the post), and seldom reflects "true" post quality..Not to mention,if you've ever posted in one of those "Post a caption for this picture" threads, you've pretty much completely thrown your star rating off anyway

Oddly enough, I actually got nominated as a winner for that (but didn't win). It was the 'flying Rodian' pic they put up.
