my idea is that they create profession halls, there will be 6 for each starting profession, and each hall there will be the trainers that you need for your profession you need and in the artisan hall there will be a droid engineer room where you can find the droid refinery and customization and each hall will have a room for each elite profession and of course there will be 2 rooms for some professions like bounty hunters will have a room in the scout hall and marksman hall

This one is to let out my ignorant side:

How about a free droid shop?

This is difficult because of the existing gameplay structure (as I

You could have a 'workshop' with an oil bath etc - but 'technically' it would just act as a crafting station (although personally I think that specific building rather than crafting stations chucked all over would have been a better way to go) unless they are prepared to have it grant some kind of additional droid construction/experimentation bonus.

Power station - well not exactly a 'droid specific' building and I can see this putting a dent in the battery market (because it would be free?) which I dont know if the devs will allow or is a good thing.

Garage - well these are 'technically' already in (just not usable) and again arent really 'droid specific'and wont be of any use until we get speeders etc, but I'm assuming speeders will need power and so theres an opportunity here for power droids (unless they cop out and make the garage have its own generator)

Scrap/junk yard/dealer - like the Jawa sandcrawler and Watos shop - the problem with this is that it either competes/replaces selling droids/parts on the bazaar or introduces an NPC vendor back into the equasion (remember bounty hunter droid vendors!!!!). Actually this was the kind of thing I was expecting to find out at the Jawa fortress.....but didnt :-(

One thing I would like though is the ability to put wrecked droid chassis (like the ones you find near the old bounty hunter droid vendors and the DE trainers) in my house

A droid stasis building (aka Droid Daycare)

Since I have limited slots on my datapad. I could go into the building, say in a remote area that I frequent. And store my pet there. Whenever I go hunting there, I can call it from there and use it. When I die, it goes back there. I can only call it there after storing it the first time. I would be charged a nominal storage fee of course. In adangerous area, I could always use a fresh probot.

Not sure if these have been mentioned at all (sick and tired of reading player posts) But here is my ideas.

Droid Building with the following options.

Recharging station. (Allow it so that Droid engineers have to deposite decomposable Power Droids and set a charging fee)

Paint and Detail (but Droid Engineers should be the one who would recharge this by having to deposit droid customization tools in there or something related... maybe a new component that needs to be placed in there that requires a DE to upkeep. Also, allow it so that there is a fee for the detail job. Not one set by the player, but one set by the Developers so that it is a server wide constant. Not sure if everyone would agree with that though.)

Allow repair stations for droids as well (again, create an access fee for using it.)

I really think that these fees should go to the droid engineer who placed the structure. Moreover, I think it should have a Watto's shop kind of feel. Junk all around and counter where there a droid could stand that is fully customizable that can greet the players (perhaps the protocol droid that is placed there autmatically) and direct them to where they can be serviced.

I really think it needs to have a seedy randomized look and feel to it. Houses and structures have too much of a clean look in my opinion. This should especially be the case for the droid structure.

I like;

Droid Recharging/Repair stations, owned by DEs, fee is charged to those who need service

And how about;

Refinery - This could be an artisan-owned building but would requirespecialty droids that can "standardize" components (make them the same serial number - even looted components), salvage looted weapons/armor/items for usable materials, and/or could increase the stats of raw materials (ores, metals, chemicals) by smelting. Dump in 100k of some material and out comes 50-75k depending on success of a slightly higher qualty material.

Apologiesif its been mentioned, but how about a centralised depot?

What do I mean? Well, its always bugged me that so many of these droids have no use. How about a depot where you can tell your Lifter droid to ferry resources from harvestors to...stockpiling in 1 central location for DE only perhaps?

Sorry if its a silly idea - havnt played DE since beta =p

I would love to see a bigger factory that allowed more than one thing being processed. It would double the requirements of each exisiting factory and would also need LoadLifter droids and maybe a few other Droid parts for help with the assemblies.

I'm an Architect and this is from the Architect forum, maybe we both can work on structures that could benifit each profession.

Yes, Droid Repair stations. They could work similarly to cloning stations. A person passes thier droid from data pad to the repair station and the station brings up a window, telling them how much it will cost (set by us) to repair thier droid. They select yes or now and are on thier way. Poof we just made a few credits and they are happy thier droid is repaired.

<Lurker alert> I like a lot of what has been written, and I'll add a little myself.

Droid Workshop - Architect craftable shop which requires droid parts to manufacture. Say, a certain number of components (storage?) and chassis. This then goes to the architect, as the parts are required components for the structure. The building, when made gets a 'unique' droid look. Some people didn't like the idea that their parts might be lost in an architects critical failure - tough luck, in my opinion. Also....

Droid Workshop Furniture - Also architect craftable, but this 'furniture' (also requiring droid components and bodies) is more like the little 'placeables' we've all seen next to trainers. I imagine the droid oil bath would come under this category. I know that making droids look 'dirty' would be very difficult to do, so it might have to just be cosmetic.

Of course, this lends itself to...

Other Workshops - If we get it, so should others. Let architects craft tailor shops (requiring tailor crafted components), weapon shops (with built in display models) etc etc. Heck, let some of it be optional, so that a more advanced crafter (or wealthier buyer) can get more 'profession specific' parts for their workshop.

Protocols for Shuttleports - Yep - all good. I think we all want to see that one.

Droid Militia - Like this one too - however I think it might be good to see the droids 'die' permananty - creating a need for replacement droids (hey - money sink). We've seen NPC militia working in traditional cities - usea similar system. I wouldn't even mind if it was only one kind of droid that could be used in this manner - and if the 'system' averaged or set a standard capability for all the droids in a militia. That way, it wouldn't have to keep track of the various different effectivities of the droids supplied. (Which I imagine would be nightmareish). Just have a 'donate droid' datapad - eat the droids up and spawn some standard droids in the city.

Droid City Wanderers - (Not a football team.) The option to have droids wandering around the city as flavour sounds lovely. However, I'd imagine that the current problems we've seen with pathfinding droids (and NPCs) in cities (do a /find and see how many corners your path goes through - and find droids stuck in the walls of those corners) would only be made much harder in Player Cities, where the buildings aren't static. My only thought is that the droids would only be able to wander around the outside of individual buildings, once assigned to that building. Clumsey at best, I fear.

Maintenance Buffers - R Units and such attached optionally to buildings to incrementally reduce mainainance fees. I can imagine that would be fairly simple to do. Reduces that money sink that's been mentioned, though. And as for the droids wandering around the building as 'fluff' for flavour - that would be fantastic, but that's a hardwired path (or two) for each building in the game that supports a 'wandering droid'. Once again - city paths aren't fixed, who's going to code a path for every home? More feasible, would be the owner of the house somehow being able to give the droid itself some very specific 'patrol points' - but these are for a droid assigned to the house. Clumsey again. /shrug

Medical Buffers - The medical droids assigned to a medical centre to increase the healing percentage. I can imagine this one working - a bit like vendors, really. The polititican goes to the terminal for the medical centre withsome medical droid deeds (need to be clean, unusedand hygenic!). There's an option, much like create vendor, that lets them create medical assistant (or something). They get a medical assistant in their inventory and lose a deed. They can then place the medical assistant in the building, like a vendor, up to the assistant limit of the medical centre. Possibly increases the maintenance rates of the building itself.

Mini-Factories - Don't think that one should even be here, really (not city related). Using a droid as a short run factory that can then follow you when finished. One - reduces the credit sink. Two - eats into the (admittedly wideranging) architect profession. Three - reduces, what might not be too well known, the old game technique where you create a situation whereby the player must return to the game to upkeep something. I think UO was the first to use it extensively and half of this game (the crafting half?) is utterly dependent on it. Keeps your player base coming back over and over.

Aye, so that's my tuppence.

reminds me - probots destroyed on the field should be lootable for resources or components...

Would you care to test out a 400 year old sword to see if it's decayed to condition 0? All the prior testers have no comment. Perhaps a gun which was used in WW I and still fires with high accuracy upto 1km?

If that doesn't get you, then start reading current military specifications for combat equipment.

Although this post is very interesting and i like all the ideas, its a waste of time...i mean our profession doesnt even work yet...theres no much that has changed since the end of beta. So, i doubt we'll see anything like this until 2005, lol.
