Do we WANT this? Droid Batteries are one of the reasons people dont use droids. The end user hassle factor and his ultimate cost to benefit rationalization. With the increase of complexity, both resource and component wise, DE's will be inclinedto raise their prices. While eager customers are still dealing with the shock that is the "Droid Invasion" we will be raising prices andadding on-going cost of droid ownership. If they could have put in just one new chassis this would not be such an issue.

One of the Two DE issues that has never been acknowledged is a need for droid uniqueness. To exaberate this they are heralding the combat modules which sttrip the probot of its inherint ability and at the same type making an effort to make pets and droids the same in combat utility.

One test Im curious about is which will win in a fight? A max combat R3 or a max Probot.

hmm, most complain only about the armor ratings.

imo its even more rediculous that R-units can fihgt! thats silly and even with higher HAM then a Probot which is the only real combat style driod actually :/

i was hoping for new chassis for combat droids, but an R3 unit with highest HAM now is imo more then silly.

just give then a mouse 10k ham and 500 dmg is next patch? /sarcasm off

dammit devs, do things right and not mess up everthing, we DEs wait to long already for fixing our class.

changes are fine and balance issues might be also fine, but make the simple system first right. a R-unit shouldnt fight. period.

u should come up with more chassis if u want to make combat droids varity.

i dont know, but that news dont make me at all exited here, i see not much of a advancement in DE with this changes.

so guess i need to keep hoping for some senseful changes some day

/still dissapointed

I'd much rather have a probot with 10 damage and 1k ham with 40% medium armour.

Why do I say that? Because we need tanks. If my probot can go up against a mob and last longer, while doing less damage that's better for me, because I can get more experience from killing the mob. It's that simple.

Has anyone confirmed that this is a retroactive change, that my current probot with 820 ham and 40% medium armour is going to have 20% resists with no armour, but still have the same damage/ham? If they nerf the armour on all droids, they have to change everything else with it as well... you can't have one without the other here.

This is what I want to know as well. Are all those old probots now useless ?? Am I going to be gettting a ton of tells wanting cash back ?

Man, I really hope that we get at least light armor back, or a heck of a lot more HAM. BE'd pets can easily have twice the HAM of anything reported so far. *sigh* This kind of thing makes me not want to go full blown DE again.

Now I know this won't come as a new concept for some of you, but this is for those who are wondering what they are going to do with all the 8xx HAM probots after Publish 7. Use MARKETING, people! Sell them at a discount as "entry-level" probots. Newbies will buy them 'cause they're affordable and they will upgrade later to a better, more expensive model when they can afford it. And boom, there goes the old stock, and it generates more revenue by selling two droids to one customer.

One persons marketing, another persons scam...

I'm sorry, but suggesting to anyone that the old HAM Probots are any good (noob or not) is deceptive, ESPECIALLY if they have no real armor. Am I also going to tell that noobie to spend all their money on Droid Stims too - as we all know that noobies have tons of disposable income...

This does not change the fact that the Dev team told us through our former correspondent to stock up on as many as we could, nor does it change the fact that to anyone that understands armor ratings, etc. this will be seen as a GREAT BIG NERF to anyone that knows anything.

So while we may be able to "market" (read : fool) people who don't know any better into buying the new droids with their higher HAM and higher Damage but absolutely dead armor, that will not last once people catch on to the true state of droids in a post-armor rating galaxy.

That is forgivable - we can deal with it - but I am still absolutely disgusted that the nerf is retroactive, making previous droids useless (and no, I don't think many people will rush out to buy a new droid with slightly better damage but a LOT worse tanking ability once their current probot "dies" with the armor nerf), and again that we were told to stock up on these droids YET they nerf them too. Make them obsolete by bringing new droids in, not destroying what we already have.

Do we WANT this?

Well, people have been down that we couldn't heal droids like...let's see.....forever.

So, yes, we want this (but I know what you meant).

To clarify....

The report I made was a bit misrepresentative. He used 3 'charges' for a single kit. A pretty big difference from what I wrote.

From what I can tell, droid 'stim' Bs will do quite well in most every situation. Thankfully, this frees us a bit from having to be so hawkish, as Kollos pointed out, about our rare resource needs.

Respectfully (and a bit tired too),

LOL, you still aren't addressing the point, TK.

You seem to believe that "Those are 3 (charges)...that someone will have to buy soon."

People are NOT going to be spending constant upkeep for a crappy CL-10 droid with no real armor.

When creature pets stepped down from CL-15 to CL-10, they pet-stim market all but dried up. Most of the time when I see someone with a pet it's just that - like a little kitty or something they use for Role-playing.

Again, it's like arguing before that droid perma-death would increase sales - not seeing the fact that most people are going to roll their eyes and say, "All that for a stinkin' weak pet?"

Once word gets out of this nerf, I fear we will be in an even worse place than we were before the "Invasion" in terms of customers. Those few that found our Probots useful as low-level tanks will no longer be able to.

I mean, is a rifleman going to stop fighting every 15 seconds, run up, stim his droid, then run back 60m and start shooting again? Come on.

Exactly.

We're losing the key selling point of the old Probot - that it was a good tank. Even with stims, the new Probot is not a good tank because it basically requires one player to babysit it to keep it alive. The old Probot could tank enough damage that it was useful to hold targets at a distance while the player killed them. The fact that it couldn't be healed kept that tanking ability under control and required that players have multiple Probots to use and the ability to call them (normally at least Novice Scout). Best of all, the PLAYER did all of the killing and reaped the experience for it. The old Probot was ideal for helping players level up (or at least those who didn't want to macro their way up).

The new Probot can't tank effectively because it will take too much damage too quickly. Thus the player will be required to keep the Probot alive, which means the player is not doing the killing. At least Creature Handlers gain some experience when their creatures kill targets... Droid Engineers aren't going to get that from their Droids.

The Probot and CL 10 pets used to be distinct - the Probot could tank and pets could do decent damage. Now the Probot is just a metal pet.

. As it is now, I see nothing that would compel anyone to use a droid over a BE pet.

They won't be using the Droid insead of the BE pet but inconjunction with the the pet. In other words right now if they need the help of a pet they call there trusty BE pet. AFTER pub 7 they will call BOTH there BE pet and there Droid giving them the ruff equilaint of a LvL20 pet. This is the intention of the Devs ofcourse I think we all can see atleast one problem with this if any of us had ever been a CH and that is it is MUCH harder to control 2 pets at the same time as such there is a VERY good chance that the "USER" will only pull one pet out at a time and wich will he chose the on that can be buffed or the one that can't. One thing I do want to say however is that one thing the Devs are probly VERY conserned with is Killing the BE economy like what happened to CHs when Cars came out making there Mounts all but opsolite. They don't want droids to do that to BE Pets so there making there stats equil the problem comes in with the in ablity to buff a droid and that could easliy be "fixed"(nerfed) by making it so that you can't buff your pet. and yes I know I sound like TH here but it is late and I got up early

Pet stims sell for use on high level pets, not on CL 10 beetles, rabbits, and other assorted pests.

That is because you could use normal stim bs on CL10 pets and heal them up very well with just Novice Medic(and any good combater with 15 spare SPshasit)and +25 Treatment stat cloths so you did not Need Pets stims. With droids the ONLY way to heal them white or black damage will be with Droid Stims and THAT is where the market will come from
