Thread: Answers for the list of Droid Engineer Questions.
anybody who says these types of things will get my support when they want to leave. every time i see a post about "i am leaving" , "i don't think this is going to change, i am leaving". GOOD RIDDANCE. is this supposed to make the dev's go, OH NOOO!! The people who just come on the boards to whine are leaving. Quick, change everything to what they want now!! The dev's are doing a good job considering the circumstances. The point people keep missing in reference to DE's is that like Thunderheart said, the droid code is connected to everything. You can't fix it overnight. I know DE has been taking the shaft.
I don't know why everyone goes, great but... every time the dev's post good news. rather then pissin and moanin accept what you get and try to make due with it. you threatening to leave won't make a difference. oh no you leaving bring the total down from 250,000 to 249,999 accounts. it is the end of the world. Get over it. if you don't have constructive criticism about it, just don't say anything at all.
Sorry everyone, i have seen too many of these morons with their empty threats. in a week they will be back saying the same thing about another problem. Just quit and don't bother giving everyone updates on why you are leaving. go or don't, nobody cares so just go away.
Thanks TH! Lots of good info there. I do think certain areas could be clarified more, and I'd like to emphasize the idea of getting our input early in the design process. Once you guys have compiled the list of problems to look at, and have come up with a theory on how to fix it, send the theory our way! We'll debate it, and Sinostri can compile the arguements made and send it your way *before* it gets coded in and has to be changed later.
On that note, I'd suggest started those Focus Threads as early as possible. You could get gobs, literally gobs of intelligent arguement and debate on any specific subject if you just make a thread. We're good at that around here, especially when it's for "official" things.

The only moron here is you...I'll also add gullible.
Most of us have been here for months listening to endless promises of fixes....followed by excuses when they don't pan out. No, the devs are not doing a good job considering anything, this game has been out close to seven months and DEs are barely a viable class. Seeing you and a few others fawning all over the TH when he posts here is sickening. Its obvious from reading his post they still have no clue. Just look at his answer about droids and module level. Also, notice how he mentioned combat animations for biped droids....NOONE wants a gun in a protocol or repair droid. We know us leaving will mean nothing to the devs. But when enough of us leave it will.
I'm with Gatt, looks like I'll be hitting the cancel button too.
Ill use the wait and see.
In part basically i see the ch nerf bringing pets down to a probots status, so i dont think we are really getting anything other then the ability to heal them which is huge.
But like i said ill wait and see and at least he actually did make a post which in it self is frankly almost unreal.

"I think the Devs would rather make Combat Droids slightly better than non-CH pets too, but there's (possibly) a good reason why they shouldn't. Droids are very versatle (sp?), orat least they are meant to be very versatle. If you have a Combat Droid, that is equivalent to a CL10 non-CH pet, plus the droid has a crafting module and a medical module, then the droid is the far superior choice."
Yes I agree 100% with this view point. Our CL10 combat droid will be as powerful as a CL10 organic but we will have an edge in most situations with Medical modules, etc when it comes to a sale. Not to say I wouldnt want a more powerful pet to kill non-CH pets ( lets face it .. Creature Handlers can all solo the highest paying missions .. they dont need to make money at selling non-ch pets.)
Anyhow, thanks TH!
Sintrosi, can I translate this as :
No New Combat Droids?
We are getting slightly upgraded Probots (good), and 3PO's, with their 45 HAM, holding carbines?
This is the impression I am getting - please correct me if I am wrong.

Ummm, Thunderheart?
The R5 is the LOWEST of the astromechs.
The progression, from worst to best is:
R5,R4,R2,R3
Just so you don't answer as if 'High level item' = 'Low level item' too much :-)
I believe Thunderheart's point is that even with only a single 'step' of difference (MSE to R5) the best made lower droid should not be as good as the best made higher droid, but that it is also possible to make a great lower droid and a really crummy higher droid.
This doesn't necessarily involve capping the modules a droid can hold. A droid with two modules will be more useful than a droid with one, either having a higher rating due to stacking or else having a second function. Even in the case of the MSE and R5 where they both have one module slot you could argue that the R5 is a better droid, having more HAM.
That said, I would still like to see caps put onto modules. I dislike the idea of an MSE with a 110 medical rating and the ability to hold a million units of resources. It just seems a bit silly.
Unfortunately, as of right now, an R5 droid is precisely equal to an MSE droid in every way but cosmetically. At least an R3 can natively hold more modules than those two lower level droids. I disagree with the assertion that the best R5 must be better than the best MSE on this basis. Now the best R3 being better than the best MSE, yes, certainly. It's a six-slot droid, whereas an advanced MSE or advanced R5, like an advanced treadwell, or a basic surgical, or what have you, is a two-slot droid.
Did that make sense? I think when I read TH's reply, it sounded like he was trying to increase the steps between droids in order to magnify the apparent difference... Perhaps I misread his intention. It seems to me that there doesn't NEED to be a big difference between MSEs and R5s, they're both cheapies.

4.) What does mechanism rating mean for crafting stations, and is there a correlation with the rating on architect made crafting stations? If so, could you give us a hint on how it correlates?
In short, this gives you a better chance to resist critical failures. It works like Quality Modifiers on Crafting tools.
The problem is we don't know how to compare droid crafting stations with architect crafted stations. We always get asked "What is the rating of the crafting station in the droid?" and we have no way of knowing what to tell them. So please...how do we compare the two?
Thanks for the other answers Thunderheart! ![]()
Has development been considered along the following lines. If i am stepping on anyones toes i am sorry but have not yet seen this mentioned.
Droids like all electronics should be customizable. We see alot of talk about modules but little talk about repairing them or replacing them.
Now as i see it, A poorly made weapon will only last so long before you try a repair or it crumbles in your hands. Why can't droid modules have the same issues?
Now... these are my reasons for making that particular statement.
People who use the best components in making items tend to get the best quality and performance with their products. How ever these items still decay and require replacements, up grades, slicing, repairs....
Is it not fesable to make Droid modules the same in these respects? Give a module a decay rate that corresponds to the materials decay rate used in construction.
This would thus allow Droid engineers the option to repair/replace modules within droids. Even if the unit has not failed yet could we not be allowed the ability to take a droids module and replace it with a new one or a different one, be it fixed, sliced, upgraded or totally different.
This would of course mean that Droid modules would need to be increased in their complexity to manufacture but i dont see the issue with something more complex or more demanding to manufacture if we are given the opportunity to be more involved with droid aftercare....
What say you.

21.) Why are Droid Engineers dependant on Master Artisan components directly or indirectly (subcomponents of components) for at least 41 of the items in the Droid Engineering lines, but no other crafting profession even begins to approach this level of dependency?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We agree. In the not too distant future, either all dependencies are going up or your dependencies are going down. Its way too early to talk about which way that’s going to go at this point in time…
If you remove this you had better remove the BH dependency on DE for their Bounty Hunting. fair is fair
