Thread: Answers for the list of Droid Engineer Questions.
This is a start. The only point i disagree with is the unwillingness to make droids better than creature pets. If they were we would see more of them. So what that a probot will equal a level 10 pet. A level 10 pet can be healed. No fairness in that

Yeah, I want a follow up on this as well. The definition of clusters states that clusters fit a "variety" of slots. ("This is an array that can fit a variety of droid sockets" to be exact). Are clusters working as designed or not? Clusters within clusters is obviously a bug as you mentioned.

1.) Is it a bug/exploit or intended that you can stack general module socket clusters together (allows for infinite stacking) as well how they fit into the droid. What's the word on this?

Yes it is a bug and a fix is in progress.

I think the question was answered in one fell swoop.

Follow up question to this, what about putting General Socket Cluster Modules into Non-Cluster general slots? Is this a feature or a bug?
Yeah, I want a follow up on this as well. The definition of clusters statesthat clusters fit a "variety" of slots. ("This is an array that can fit a variety of droid sockets" to be exact). Are clusters working as designed or not? Clusters within clusters is obviously a bug as you mentioned.
In light of the fact that droids will now accept every type of crafting station, clusters will be needed to make all-in-one droids (R3 only accepts 6 modules, but there are now 8 modules we can use, though I can't remember the type of sockets the R3 accepts). I assume the purpose of clusters is fitting more modules into a droid as their definition implies.
This issue has been a source of considerable (and I believe needless) acrimony in the DE community. We'd like to have it settled once and for all.
Heh, I say needful acrimony. But the point is that the sockets are Labeled as either Cluster Socket or General Socket, clear distinction, since we are Airing our respective views on this. Currently you can put aGeneralCluster module in any general socket, meaning I couldput 6 seperate modules in 2 cluster in anadv MSE, as a master these would be as good as anyones Adv. R3 so why make anything else. This epitomizes one of the basic problems with Droid Engineering as it stands today, andone reason why Ipersonally detestMSE's.
As for putting 4 crafting stations in one droid, Why would you want that as a DE? That reduces ourmeager droid sales that much more.
The R3 takes 2 general cluster modules.
Wow, great posts TH!!
I'm not a Droid Engineer (though I do have a Probot and an R4), but I'm really excited by this! ![]()
I do agree with a lot of you that Combat Droids should be slightly better than non-CH pets. I think Combat Droids should be comparable to a CL11 or CL12 pet, so they're a little bit better, but don't completely blow non-CH pets out of the water.
I think the Devs would rather make Combat Droids slightly better than non-CH pets too, but there's (possibly) a good reason why they shouldn't. Droids are very versatle (sp?), orat least they are meant to be very versatle. If you have a Combat Droid, that is equivalent to a CL10 non-CH pet, plus the droid has a crafting module and a medical module, then the droid is the far superior choice. You have combat abilities, but also other advantages that a pet doesn't provide. I think that might be the reason that the Devs don't want to make Combat Droids more powerful than CL10 non-CH pets. Just a thought.
It would be cool if you guys could make Combat Droids that were more powerful than CL10 pets, but only DE's could use them.
Anyway, I look forward to these changes, and I look forward to buying myself a new Probot
I think you guys all deserve a lot of credit (as in props not money hehe .... ok you deserve money too
) for sticking with DE as faithfully as you have. There have been a lot of players that left this game for very trivial bugs, or very stupid or selfish reasons. But you guys, the most broken profession of all, have stuck it out like champs. I'm highly impressed.

Keep up the good work DE's, and keep up the good work on getting these changes going Devs! ![]()

Yes I agree 100% with this view point. Our CL10 combat droid will be as powerful as a CL10 organic but we will have an edge in most situations with Medical modules, etc when it comes to a sale. Not to say I wouldnt want a more powerful pet to kill non-CH pets ( lets face it .. Creature Handlers can all solo the highest paying missions .. they dont need to make money at selling non-ch pets.)
Anyhow, thanks TH!
Ok, the forums seem to hate me today, but this is in regards to TH's idea of droids being equal to CH pets.
There have already been plenty of comments on this part but I don't think any of them hit it quite right(at least, not quite right in my mind). The comparison here is between non-CH creatures and droids. Creatures are essentially just a branch off of or byproducts of creature handlers, there leftovers in a sense. Droids, on the other hand, are made for general use. Droids are supposed to be everywhere, as they don't have any one specific profession that uses them. This is the heart of the problem, not that DE's need more profits or we hate CH's, its just that providing droids for others IS the purpose of our profession, providing pets for themselves is the purpose of CH's.

What you're saying doesn't make sense. A CL 10 creature will have no armor under the changes currently on TC. When he says equal to CL 10 pets, I have to assume that he means equal.
Equal means equal to me. If equal doesn't mean equal to TH heshould say so.
I'm hoping for the best, but with the desire to nerf solo ability across the boards being shown, I'm not going to bet on it just yet.
I'm having a hard time here wondering *why* nearly the entire game is balanced around a CH and their pets in a Star Wars game. Having a probot "devaluing" a CH's monster pet tank isn't really a bad thing in my opinion. I can understand not wanting a Probot to dominate most any CH's pet (although I would argue that a CH's pet shouldn't be so dominating in the first place)... but making it worse than the WORST of the CH pets? Why are we so deathly afraid of stepping on even the Novice CH's toes? Why should a Novice CH dominate a droid that's widely available, and one that even they themselves can use?

Take a look at the changes on TC right now. The Spiked Krevol is the replacement pet that you gain when you trade in a Rock Beetle. You will notice that the Krevol's stats are better than an average Advanced Probot, until you factor in the addition of Medium 40% armor. If you face these two off on each other and let them be, who do you think is going to win the fight in the log run? The Spiked Krevol may have the stats, but the Probot will out last it any time. If you don't believe me, come to the Test CenterI will prove it. If the Probot was given the exact same stats as a Spiked Kervol, and still allowed to equip Medium 40% armor, it would become a lot more powerful than the Krevol. Both of these are Difficulty Level 10.
Spiked Krevol Advanced Probot
HAM 900 HAM 820
Speed 2.0 Speed 2.42
To Hit 0.28 To Hit 0.22
Damage 90 - 100 Damage 71 - 86
Armor none Armor Medium
Resists none Resists 40%
Yes you can heal a pet, currently, but which of these two would you pick when we are given the ability to heal droids, as listed in THs post. The object of the pet changes is not to nerf the soloing ability, but rather to make it so that you actually need to spend the skill points to earn the right to solo.

Yeah... nowwe just have to decide whetherwe want to be rid ofour pain orhave everyone share it. ![]()
Honestly... that's not a simple question. I like the idea of more interdependence... I just hate having to actually chase down architects/armorcrafters to get parts. ![]()
Ok, between this and the combat thread it's become blindingly apparent the Dev's don't have a clue what they're doing.
I'll be packing up and cancelling tomorrow.
My understanding is that the lvl 10 they are reffering to is the HAMs and damage. A probot would have the same damage as a lvl 10 creature, same HAMs, but would have a medium armor rating compared to most of htose creatures which have light armor or none at all. that is the advantage that DE's will have under the new rules.
I would also like to say that the DE's should not get a special combat droid for themselves. they are engineers. The weaponsmith line does not come with a weapon of weaponsmiths. Architects don't have this advantage either, they are a non-combat proffession.
