lag is hard to measure. from what I have seen, for may people who complain about lag, the problem is actually client side and isn't really lag at all. a lot of people in this game who are experiencing lag are experiencing it because their video card is too slow or doesn't have enough memoryto keep up with the game's graphic engine. another thing i've noticed is that defragging a sloppily maintained hard drive can cure lag issues that some players have with this game.

in other words, lag often has nothing to do with the server and on slow, or poorly maintained computers could easily go into the range of 3 seconds or more.

Lag is actually very very easy to measure. Get two accounts and two computers and see the difference it takes between what you see on one and what you see on the other. It is always at least 2 seconds sometimes up to 10, especially when something needs to load, i.e. people in houses or just moved into range. Another way to notice it, although not time it, is to see how much someone slips when incaped when they are moving a lot. You often will see a body fly accross the ground or someone will be out of range and yet still hit you. BTW this lag is not client side, but server side. Client side lag is when someone runs out of a starport and the game hangs or when opening the schematics in your datapad. Client lag is often seen by a drop in frame rates, where server lag is where the frame rates are fine but what is seen by one client isn't seen by the other for a few seconds later.

(using /tellpet so your enemy doesn't realize it's coming)

It isnt a voice command - so tellpet will not work.

you have to select the droid and either use its radial menu or select it and type /detonatedroid.

either way - its the same as hiding it in a /tellpet. I have seen a couple of posts with this confusion and i wanted to make sure that it dosnt spread.

Yea, thats what I was planning on doing. I think the trick with these is they won't be too usefull in PVP since you can outrun/shoot them, but PVE I think they'll be great. get a large group of mobs together in the corvette or something and let em fly.

My thoughts exactly. The more BH/Smuggler's ya have the better.

I am a little disappointed about the Detonation module being available at Master DE.

I am a novice DE and I like playing as a DE. I want to play the role of a real DE, Not grind my way to Master, building small SALEBLE droids to advance. The detonation module would be perfect at lower levels. The novice DE could sell some one-shot exploding MSE droids and master could build a big super nova droid.

I think Novice should get xp crafting cheap consumable and Master should be crafting expensive permanent droids for all professions.

But I think I am the only one thinking like that

Bettosh Novice DE, Gorath

I would agree with you completely if the game was not filled with HOLO Grinders. It's too easy for any and everybody to hit novice DE in a heartbeat, and then where would your/my market be?

Hmm if you had the profession points to play with...

Could you dump a merchant barker module AND a detonation module into a droid?

"Selling holocrons cheap!. Click for Waypoint"... sit back and wait for an opposing faction member to walk up and click.. tell pet to follow them and type /detonatedroid.

Of course the victom would have to be very silly to not notice the overt enemy sitting on the edge of their screen.

Coverts would not be able to exploit this would they?

Ok, finally got some serious testing in with these things, lots-o-numbers and stats for those that like that kind of thing. Many thanks to Osrix for being the smuggler I needed and blowing things up for me.

Ok, first thing we went after was myself . I know there have been other pvp tests, but I figured more never hurts (plus I wanted to do some range testing). For all the range stuff, we found that the owner could detonate the droid at any distance he could target him (so 150m in most cases). line of sight wasn't needed.

Droid Rating: 37

Damage: 1669

Resists: none (though PVP reduction was in place)

Next we went for some desert eopies and desert eopie lair. We found a couple things on this one, first of all, you have to have the droid targeted to detonate, secondly the droids don't seem to damage lairs, and finally only the owner and target (if its a player) see the damage combat spam (though everyone gets to see the floaty numbers)

Droid rating: 37

Damage: 3739

Resists: 5% to all

Now we moved on to some faction targets. First we tried sending a mouse droid at a base, the troopers ignored it but the turret did shoot it down (had to store and recall). Next we tried a group of random faction NPC's standing aroundoutside the base (and the turret's line of fire). results from that run:

Droid rating: 37

Damage: 4172, 5074, 5150, 5139, 7199, 6945

Resists: it was a mix of troops, but I believe all had either 5% resists, 20% resists, or 40% resists. I am using their blast resists, as this seemed to match up the best with the numbers given, plus it makes the most sense for a bomb.

We also found out on this run that the person who bombs will get aggroed (even at 150m out). After a quick trip to the cloning facility, we were back to the base, covert. The next mouse droid was sent to the turret and troops surrounding it covertt, after exploding (results were similar to those listed above), we noticed that it did not damage the turret (seems to be all structues then, lairs and turrets alike). However, you do get a TEF if you are covert attacking faction targets.

Ok, finally decided to try a bit bigger bomb. Sent out an R3 fully loaded, though you don't get the +10 bonus that you get with mouse droids. We wanted to see how much damage it would do, and also how well it would hold up under turret fire (there was still a TEF in place). The R3 made it to the turret with HAM to spare (fully experimented as well as some armor).

Droid rating: 49

Damage: 8100, 7907, 5715, 8783, 6530, 9681, 7389, 8535, 6183, 6939, 6868, 6778, 9271, 8166, 8599

Resists: same as listed above

Ok, so there we have it. A few things I noticed/thought about. As far as pvp goes, you could easily get this droid near someone while they're distracted in a fight. keep it at about 15m (range is 18m) and it should be far enough away that they aren't stepping on it. The countdown is only on screen(not in chat), so if they aren't looking at the droid chances are they'll miss it.

I'm not sure if the not damaging lair/turret thing is intentional or not, but it is something to find out. In factional combat, one or two of these could take out most of the bases troops, leaving just turrets to deal with. Makes for a lot less distractions, and taking out a stationary target is easier than taking out a moving target.

You don't receive any faction points or XP for anything killed with these, so their main use would be cleaning out an area for you to move in (such as taking down bases or clearing creatures away from a house/harvester quickly), or taking down things you would like to loot.

I'd say overall the mouse droid is the best droid to use this with, not only is it pretty cheap (I could see selling it in bulk for 3k per droid) but it maxes out at a rating of 40, so only the R2, Probot, and R3 beat it (but are much more expensive).

Ok, thats all the info I can think of, if anyone else has questions about it post em and I'll see if I know (or can find out).

as a smuggler i sit back and grin and grina nd grin.. finally some love from the devs.. as i read the reports of what these things can do.

cant find the post elsewhere so i say it here.. no DE should not get to use the exploding MSE droid... why? becuase BE cant use their high lvl pets.. not unless they take CH as welll so if youwant to use the droidebecome a smuggler or a BH.

LOl slice a pet that stil funny but slicing a MSE with a bomb module in it.. and risk it exploding on you hehehe... why cant we slice droids again? they got wepaons and armor...

Thanks a lot Jenden! Those numbers are great =)

They should also be usefull for sealing of a limited space, like a corridor in a base (... or starport). Post it in a corner where the corridor twists (think starport corridor twist), time/detonateDroidso the fireworks doesn't go off until the enemy rounds the corner, and...

Thanks for the info, Jenden, good work! And thanks also to Osrix for helping you out!

Question on the modules:

Your rating of 37 for an MSE droid (which gets a +10) implies that the 2 exploding modules had ratings of 13 each. Yet your rating of 49 for a fully loaded R3 implies that the 6 exploding modules had ratings of 8 each.

Do you know what the full range of ratings is yet for individual modules, and then also for the different droid chassis? I find your R3's rating very puzzling... even with a +10 bonus for the MSE droid, the R3 should have been able to score a significantly higher rating than 49.
