Thread: Poll Current Droids, Combat Modules, and Other Items.
1. MSE - no
2. R-Series Droids - yes, melee only
3. Treadwell - no
4. Power Droid - no
5. LE Repair Droid - no
6. Surgical Droid - no
7. Protocol Droid - no
8. Binary Load Lifter - yes
2) Which would you prefer?
1. Each Droid to have a specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
2. Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
#2, gives the most variation and I think it could be pretty cool
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
No
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
Loot enhanced droids!
Just like Weaponsmiths and Armorsmiths, let us enhance HAM/dmg/ratings with loot
1) Would the ablity to add Combat Modules be acceptable for the following droids?
- MSE - No
- R-Series Droids - No
- Treadwell - No
- Power Droid - No
- LE Repair Droid - Yes
- Surgical Droid - No
- Protocol Droid - Yes
- Binary Load Lifter - Yes
2) Which would you prefer?
Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed) Yes!
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item? More different and interesting droid chassis options and functions!
1) Would the ablity to add Combat Modules be acceptable for the following droids?
- MSE - NO
- R-Series Droids - NO
- Treadwell - NO
- Power Droid - NO
- LE Repair Droid - NO
- Surgical Droid - NO
- Protocol Droid - NO
- Binary Load Lifter - YES
2) Which would you prefer?
- Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
I would prefer each droid to have a specialized purpose, but modualization as well. Example: All droids can take a medical modules 1-4, only medical droids can take 5-6. All droids can take item storage 1-4, only the BLL can 5-6. ONLY combat droids can take combat modules, NO current droids except the probot and DZ-70 (and maybe the BLL) can take combat modules. Etc.
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
Yes
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
NEW combat droids to sell. I do not want R2's with guns...I want a new combat droid to sell.
1) Would the ablity to add Combat Modules be acceptable for the following droids?
- MSE - No
- R-Series Droids - No
- Treadwell - No
- Power Droid - No
- LE Repair Droid - No... Well, maybe, but only because I don't have a fixed mental picture of it being a utility droid. I don't remember ever seeing one in the movies.
- Surgical Droid - No
- Protocol Droid - No
- Binary Load Lifter - Only if an armed (advanced) BLL actually looked like a utility droid converted into a weapons platform. It would give the chassis a purpose, and the Rebellion is known to build fighting ships out of converted civilian ships...
2) Which would you prefer?
- Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
Grrr! My kingdom for an edit button!
2) Which would you prefer?
- Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
1, but make droid functionality extendable (under limited conditions). LE Repair droids should always have the Repair function, other droids should require the repair module to do it.
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
I'd prefer to have type limitations placed on each droid. MSE droids, for example, might be limited to item / data storage modules, and unable to take medical / crafting / repair modules...
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
The ability to call two droids at once, so that one can repair the other.
(After that, I want combat droids to be of comparable strength to at least some CH-only pets. After that, I want to be certified for every type of droid that I can make... Note that this does not necessarily mean DE-only droids, or no certification system.)
Cant really answer this without knowing what a 'combat module' actually does
2) Which would you prefer?
1. Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
2. Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
Hybrid. Low level DEs are limited to the droids original design, higher level DEs are able to modify a droid beyond what the designers had in mind (within limits)
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
Yes, but the limit should be a blanket one, it should vary by module depending on the chassis. Thus an MSE would have no limitation on what level data module could be installed but probably wouldnt go beyond a level 1 item module (higher level DEs may be able to push this envelope slightly - see above)
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
Repair/power droids powering/repairing harvesters and vehicles
1) Would the ablity to add Combat Modules be acceptable for the following droids?

No
- R-Series Droids
Yes
- Treadwell
Yes
- Power Droid
No
- LE Repair Droid
Yes
- Surgical Droid
Yes
- Protocol Droid
Yes
- Binary Load Lifter
Yes
I am, however, making an assumption that combat modules do not include spy programming or something else designed to be compact and covert. If that is an included module (whatever it may be) I say put them on any droid.
2) Which would you prefer?
- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
"Combo" ideas work on so many levels...
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
Not really, no. Not an artificial limitation. I won't elaborate here...
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
*sigh* Soooo many... My single biggest 'Wish List' item would have to be autonomous, consumable-use-based droids. i.e. Surgical droid that uses stimpacks and woundpacks to heal (if only in hospitals), Entertainment modules that use entertainer-made recordings to heal mind wounds and battle fatigue, etc. Droids that are functional and useful, in other words.
1) Would the ability to add Combat Modules be acceptable for the following droids?
- MSE
- R-Series Droids
- Treadwell
- Power Droid
- LE Repair Droid
- Surgical Droid
- Protocol Droid
- Binary Load Lifter
None of these Droids if I had a Choice. These droids are all Utility droids in one way or another. Retrofitting them with blasters is like trying to retrofit a bulldozer with a tank turrent, in the long run it would be better just to build a new droid.
2) Which would you prefer?
- Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
Option 2. I think the frame specialty should not remove the need for the module to perform the function.
3) Do you want level limitations placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
No. I Think the droids are limited too much all ready. Placing limitations on them only further reduces their value.
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
I can't SayI have a wish list item that supercedes the others in what I think should be done. I would pick module updates; simply because Ithink that doing this wish list item first would help balance the other requests.
1) Would the ablity to add Combat Modules be acceptable for the following droids?
- MSE
- R-Series Droids
- Treadwell
- Power Droid
- LE Repair Droid
- Surgical Droid
- Protocol Droid
- Binary Load Lifter
Yes, with limited effectiveness.
2) Which would you prefer?
- Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
#2.
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
No
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
Displayable droids (i.e. chassis for all models AND/OR droid deeds look like the droid)
1) Would the ablity to add Combat Modules be acceptable for the following droids?
- MSE No
- R-Series DroidsMelee
- Treadwell No
- Power Droid No
- LE Repair Droid Yes
- Surgical Droid Yes
- Protocol Droid Yes
- Binary Load LifterHeavy Weapons only
2) Which would you prefer?
- Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
Power,Repair droids to be limited to function, as in new possibilities (Harvestor, survey, smuggler etc
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
No, Lv6 in a MSE is fine if someone is mad enough to build and sell it. More modules is whats really required
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
MDE special - maybe only 10% more effective in combat, but something that will make friends say 'good - we have an MDE with us in this mission'. Multiple droids at once is a given not a wish.
1. MSE - No, but it could have a knockdown ability for getting under people's feet!
2. R-Series Droids - Self-defense close range stun damage
3. Treadwell - While spinning flailing arms might look entertaining, ummm no
4. Power Droid - No
5. LE Repair Droid - Self-defense close range blast damage, presumably from a torch
6. Surgical Droid - Self-defense kinetic damage from scalpel or tranquilizer effect
7. Protocol Droid - Self-defense talk you to death damage, or flailing arms kinetic
8. Binary Load Lifter - No, unless you run into it, then you get a bump on your head
One rational would be that any droid that does not have an advanced brain would not even be able to recognize danger, identify the target, and then act on it using its combat module. But, these droids really are designed for other functions and should have very limited combat, if any.
2) Which would you prefer?
1. Each Droid to have a specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
2. Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
Droids are designed and built around a purpose. A power droid should recharge other droids. The advanced model can do that, plus a bit more. LE, Surgical also have specific functions. Other droids, in particular the R series, are more general purpose in nature.
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
Absolutely. Again, a droid is designed and built to perform a task. It is part of the range and abilities of the chassis, not some all inclusive magical module. So an advanced power droid can have another type of module, but it should be limited. Higher end droids should not have any limitations on module levels.
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
That droids were considered as valuable and necessary as a weapon or armor. What that takes probably involves a number of things like fixing bugs, adding more features, and removing annoying detractors from using a droid. Such as the camp requirement to call a droid. For crying out loud, someone can change their armor in the midst of combat, but you have to stop, put down a camp just to pull your droid (or pet) out of your magical datapad.

COMBAT droids should fight, not craft items or heal wounds.
NON combat droids shouldn't be rigged with duct tape and blasters.
JUST SAY NO TO STAR WARS!

I wish we had more specialization instead of this 'anything goes' bull they rushed out the door.
Certain droids should have obvious inherent abilities - like Surgical or Repair droids.
If a Surgical droid had a food/chem, or a Repair had a WDG, that would fit nicely.
Shoving aClothin/Armor or Furniture/Architect into a Surgical makes no sense at all
except "We couldn't figure anything else out".
Don't know where that fits into your plan without more explanation.
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
I know MSE are useless. But a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, ITEM and DATA modules WORKED.
Makes no sense you can cram the same garbage into a junk droid as a top of the line model with no difference.
I'd rather have MODULE limitations than LEVEL limitations.
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
You mean besides Power droids eating batteries?
Or a battery meter?
Or more non-combat chasiss (or even chassis for all the ones we already have)?
I guess I wish that we could all sit down with a list of all Professions and their respective skills and list modules that would help players of each profession perform the skills that they have earned.
Oh, and then that they ALL didn't fit into ONE stinking droid!
