Thread: Poll Current Droids, Combat Modules, and Other Items.
1) Would the ablity to add Combat Modules be acceptable for the following droids?
- MSE - No
- R-Series Droids - No R series never had serious battle weapons *
- Treadwell - No
- Power Droid - No
- LE Repair Droid - Maybe as a humanoid droid it may handle a weapon
- Surgical Droid - Maybe as a humanoid droid it may handle a weapon
- Protocol Droid - Maybe as a humanoid droid it may handle a weapon
- Binary Load Lifter - No
Actualy i do not see any of our droids that make sense for combat only humanoid droid can hold weapons other are not made for that.
* maybe some strange function related to combat may be added to R series like stun rod that do not damage target but stun it with an electrical shock.
2) Which would you prefer?
- Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
1 and 2 , limitation of some module to a chassis , likerepair in LE , medic in surgical but some like data , items or other are not chassis related.
maybe a we can have a super item module only for BLL with100 items ...
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed).
Yes it do not make sense that a mouse droid can be as efficient in medic capabilitie than a surgical
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
No more useless droids, especificaly for combateveryone seemsagainst the certifications for combat droidsbut as i have already said we have a combat droids that do not need any cert it is the probot and it is CL10, the max of a non certified pet, other combat droids will be as uselessas a probot if there is no certifications. ( by the way i am not asking to put those cert in the DE tree , i am so bored about this discussion so that they can put those cert anywhere devs or other DE want but, i do not want droids nerfed because even a novice can use it and it will be unbalanced to give them a powerfull droid ... )
I can talk about a lot of this at length...but I'll try to summarize.

The first part of my answer is....it depends. We know nothing about the proposed combat "modules" themselves so I have to answer this one with a grain of salt (or a barrel, not sure which). Assuming that the features/stats were logical/acceptable?...
- MSE - no (only as "bombs")
- R-Series Droids - yes, as long as the 'level' of the module scaled appropriately to the 'level' of the droid (i.e. R4s couldn't have combat modules as good as R2 Adv., for example).
- Treadwell - Yes (low-level combat modules only)
- Power Droid - No. (unless it was a higher-yield "bomb" than an MSE could get)
- LE Repair Droid - Yes (low-to-mid level combat modules only)
- Surgical Droid - Yes (low-to-mid level combat modules only)
- Protocol Droid - Yes (mid-to-high level combat modules only)
- Binary Load Lifter - Yes (mid-to-high level combat modules only)
2) Which would you prefer?

- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
If it could be implemented in a well-balanced manner, I'd vote for 2. I do NOT believe that this can/should include "full" freedom of design. There are particular droid configurations that do not honestly make sense and hurt the profession more. If a careful amount of logical attention is paid to making practical features/benefits 'tiered', then #2 would be great (and would likely satisfy, as a compromise, many 'function follows chassis' style DEs).
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
Within reason, yes. My DE Focus Threads actually do talk about a few aspects pertaining to this. I believe that droids should be 'tiered' products (i.e. low, medium and high "feature"/quality).
This applies to any/all combat, armor or service features or options. I think true total "freedom" leads us back to MSEs with crafting stations and other ridiculous configurations. If limitations are set logically, I think it will droids will still be cool and make more 'sense' for both DEs and their clients.
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
Right now? That the quality of resources vis a vis droid experimentation has NO apparent impact on the outcome of the product. We are unable to compete on the field of "quality". Right now, 'yucky' steel and uber steel will yield the same basic outcome, in terms of a droid's practical benefits to the client. Unlike Weaponsmiths, for example, we cannot have the droid market add the aspect of 'stats' as an issue to consider when a buyer purchases a droid.
If this "quality market" issue is resolved...I think it will make the droid market as a whole a LOT more fun and interesting.

Respectfully,
1) Would the ablity to add Combat Modules be acceptable for the following droids?
Only the humanoid droids....
2) Which would you prefer?
- Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed) Yeah, and no stations or anything that should in theory be larger than the droid itself.
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
Droideka (have fingers crossed)
1) Would the ablity to add Combat Modules be acceptable for the following droids?
- MSE - The bomb thing rocks!
- R-Series Droids - Blasters duct taped to the dome (nah! just kidding I dont care really)
- Treadwell
- Power Droid
- LE Repair Droid
- Surgical Droid
- Protocol Droid
- Binary Load Lifter - HELL YES! This thing should have rocket pods and heavy blunt hydrolic weapons to crush skulls with, cause #1 it would be hilarious, and #2 it is almost wrong not to have something like this on a machine that is big and stomps around!
2) Which would you prefer?
- Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
Both, that way modules could give the flexibility, but the chassis should be usefull also!
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
Yes, because it will allow us to sell droids to all levels of income, like cars you have the econo model and the cadillac. This will also help with the chassis type being more useful
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
Specific master elite profession droids, omni droid, Droideka!
1) Would the ablity to add Combat Modules be acceptable for the following droids?
- MSE - Yes
- R-Series Droids - Yes
- Treadwell - Yes
- Power Droid - Yes
- LE Repair Droid - Yes
- Surgical Droid - Yes
- Protocol Droid - Yes
- Binary Load Lifter - Yes
2) Which would you prefer?
- Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
A variation of #1. I would prefer that any module be usable in any frame... but that certain frames convey bonuses or penalties. For example, a combat module might be 30% more effective in a probot than an MSE droid or a crafting station be more effective when placed in a R series.
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
No.
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
My answer to #2.
2) 2. droid/module combo
3) No
4) More variety of module options. The post that has floated around before with the huge collection of ideas (ie slicing module, cantina module) if my idea. It is not limited chassis type that prevents people from buying droids, but the lack of variety that they provide.
1) Would the ablity to add Combat Modules be acceptable for the following droids?
- MSE - No
- R-Series Droids - No
- Treadwell - No
- Power Droid - No
- LE Repair Droid - Yes
- Surgical Droid - Yes
- Protocol Droid - Yes
- Binary Load Lifter - No
2) Which would you prefer?
- Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
- Each droid should have a specific purpose. Either Combat, or what it's designed for (crafting, etc). For example: Only allow combat modules to be placed along with repair and/or storage modules only.
- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
- Repair droids should be able to repair any droids, and/or itself.
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
Yes, Droids should have limitations so they all don't function the same.
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
Brand new schematics for combat droids, so we don't have to 'retrofit' the existing droids.
1) Would the ablity to add Combat Modules be acceptable for the following droids?
- MSE - Dependson the module. Has to make sense, given the sizeof the MSE.
- R-Series Droids - Yes
- Treadwell No
- Power Droid - No
- LE Repair Droid Yes
- Surgical Droid Yes
- Protocol Droid Yes
- Binary Load Lifter Yes
2) Which would you prefer?
- Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
An intelligent combination of both. Some droids (Power, Repair, Surgical) automatically have the ability to perform a specific function, but as a consequence, have few slots for generalmodules (or even modules that upgrade their innate abilities). All other droids wouldhave module slots, but in greater quantity/flexibility.
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed) Most definitely, so long as the limitations make sense, and promote the ability of DEs to market and sell their creations.
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
(Assuming stipulations) Adroid (or module) that allowsharvester management, and/or scouts for the highest quantity of Resource X in a given radius, and reports the coordinates to the owner.
*Koshk Ser'shyk, Master DE, Sunrunner*
- MSE - No; although I do like the idea of using them as remote mines
- R-Series Droids - No. Should help slicing though. True potentiol will be shown inSpace Expansion.
- Treadwell - Yes
- Power Droid - No
- LE Repair Droid - Yes (limited to defensive)
- Surgical Droid - Hand to Hand only (surgical tools)
- Protocol Droid - No
- Binary Load Lifter - Maybe (portable artillary station comes to mind
)
2) Which would you prefer?
- Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
Combination of both, but more towards #1. Should be like alternate configuration in Battletech. Everydroid should have it's own unique package with some flexability.
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
Yup
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
Higher level of custimation in droid design (modular external parts like head, legs, arms, torso, etc.)
1) Would the ablity to add Combat Modules be acceptable for the following droids?
- MSE ---yes
- R-Series Droids ---yes
- Treadwell ---yes
- Power Droid ---no
- LE Repair Droid ---yes
- Surgical Droid ---no
- Protocol Droid ---yes
- Binary Load Lifter---yes
2) Which would you prefer?
Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)

3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed) yes
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
I'd really like to see Power Droids able to power harvesters.
1) Would the ablity to add Combat Modules be acceptable for the following droids?
- MSE
- R-Series Droids
- Treadwell
- Power Droid
- LE Repair Droid
- Surgical Droid
- Protocol Droid
- Binary Load Lifter
If combat modules would mean other than fighting, sure. I could imagine a MSE zooming around the battlefield, pumping stims into people. Or a surgical droid reviving fallen comrades.
2) Which would you prefer?
- Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
2
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
Yes, an MSE shouldnt be able to hold more than a level 2 module.
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
Droideka deeds in my vendor

1) Would the ablity to add Combat Modules be acceptable for the following droids?
- MSE No
- R-Series Droids Possibly only melee
- Treadwell No
- Power Droid No
- LE Repair Droid Yes
- Surgical Droid Yes
- Protocol Droid Yes
- Binary Load Lifter Melee Only
2) Which would you prefer?
- Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
Combo of both - Power droid, repair droid, surgical droid, etc - should be able to do those functions better than any other droid, but modules should allow for R-Units to be Jack of All Trades and master of none
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
No, people enjoy the diversity of droids and if only a certain droid is allowed to have the high level modules, then everyone will only have the high level droids
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
More chassis and more modules - slicing, combat, surveying, tracking, etc
1) Would the ablity to add Combat Modules be acceptable for the following droids?
Neither of them
2) Which would you prefer?
- Each Droidto havea specific purpose ( I.e. Power Droids power other droids)
- Droid/Module Combos (I.e. LE Repair Droid/Repair Module = Repair Droid white bar damage)
Both. It depends on the droid: some droids, like the power or the repair droid, should have their specific purpose (LE Repair should repair other droids by itself, without the repair module) while R series are more versatile and should be able to serve different purposes according to the module installed
3) Do you want level limitaions placed on each droid? (I.e. MSE Droids can only have X Level Modules installed)
Yes. It makes no sense to me that a mouse droid could be as usefull as a R2
4) What is your single biggest 'Wish List' Item?
Being able to call out more than a droid at the same time so we can at least recharge/repair our own droids
