I like that idea and since the droid self-destructs it doesn't give people too much of an advantage.

Bounty Hunter Seeker and Probe droids are some of our biggest sellers. If they implemeted a survey droid in much the same way as a seeker droid, i could see things things being a backbone of the DE profession.

Oh, and you say we'll be able to have 1 combat critter and 1 combat droid out at a time - why? Why not two combat pets regardless of droid/critter status?

By the way, I don't mean to be a total curmudgeon and start right off with the complaints... I am VERY happy for these changes, and think they are just what the doctor ordered.

However, I do have 2 hopes:

(1) That the developers will sincerely consider some of the DEsenhancement droid proposals; and

(2) That the developers will not waste the art teams' new combat droid chassis and will push them to live in publish 8 as CL10 droids. Diversity sells, and giving DEs diversity to sell (other than just the probot) is the best thing developers could do for DEs.

I hope that the "Droid Commander"NEVER rears its ugly head again, but look forward to the time when SWG becomes more Star Warsy with more models of droids and better functions for those droids.

Although you constantly phrase the revised "Droid Invasion" as a let down, I see exactly the opposite. In all of the star wars movies, droids were almost as common as people. Currently, SWG is helplessly devoid of droids.

If you make droids more useful and cooler (as in more models), and if people use and keep droids out more, that will be a welcome "Invasion" in that there will be many more droids hanging around than ever before.

TH...It doesn't have to be combat to be cool. Let the invasion be what it is:A fix for the total lack of helper droids that is currently in the game. That invasion will be cool.

Interesting. I'm glad to see much of what is there, but as others do, I have a few concerns.

* Is the experimentation making a difference taking place accross the WHOLE professions' experimentation, or just with combat modules? (I.e. if I experiment up my components, will it make a difference, or should I continue to lowball things, as it doesn't appear to do anything right now)

* The same thing everyone else has mentioned about the combat modules: currently, our Astromechs would fare better than a Probot. Are you going to be adjusting the chassis appropriately? I'm not jumping off the Coronado Bay Bridge because an R2 can attack, I'd just like to see them in proportion with the other more 'combat-like' droids, the Probot, and to a lesser extent, the DZ-70

* Are DE's (or MDE's at least) going to be able to call out more than one droid? I realize on this one, that you'd have to make it so that they couldn't call out two combat droids, but we'd need to find another DE (or someone with a repair droid) to fix our own droid. I'm all for interdependency, but as a DE, is there anything we can do on this? (maybe give us a CL or "DL" level that would allow a non combat droid to be called at the same time, say a Treadwell with a repair module?")

* Are the repair modules going to work in the Repair Droid Chassis? This is an oldie, and hopefully a relatively easy one to remedy. Barring an easy fix, can we create a Repair Module socket, that is only able to be installed on certain droids? (i.e. Repair, Treadwell, Astromechs) like Surgical would go into Surgical and potentially Astromechs, maybe even a Protocol. This involves the creation of another socket, but it may also allow you to address the above issue, of combat modules in combat oriented droids. (create combat-only module sockets)

I'm glad to see batteries getting more ommph. I'd love to hear that experimentation would affect this, but this is a good step ahead.

The battery meter is also a giant step ahead. Right now, unless someone groups or attempts to group with a droid, they may not understand why their inate (medical capability, crafting stations, etc) won't work, because the droid dosen't chirp *low power* at them.

It's gettin there guys, keep plugging away at it. And.. while you did take a big step back on your own planswith your removal of DC from the current landscape.. don't send that to the Recycle Bin and low level format the drive.. as these changes go in, and other minutae can be addressed, I think you'll see a yearning for that 'sexy' change/idea that you had drawn up, and this community will be a whole hell of a lot more responsive, receptive and excited, based on how the next few publishes iron out, and how things improve from where they've been.

Thank you, and look forward to amicably going back and forth over future improvements and tweaks.

Yes, it means brand new effects never before available to entertainers.

isnt that really a waste of resources...lets make droids more functional for some real professions

The entertainer droid idea does look nice. And with new effects. I cannot wait.

I support healing the Wounds (and possibly BF) with such a droid. At one point, I'd have said, "No, no, keep the healing in the cantinas." But since the cantinas are boring nowadays, I'm thinking that dancing in the streets would be more fun. And it's not like you can AFK that very well, since your droid uses batteries.

I look forward to having a droid behind me doing spiffy effects in conjunction with my own. That will look fabulous!

Love Star Wars, but the few role-players I could find on the servers were outnumbered by powergamers who wanted only l337 l00t and mad skillz. I can't justify paying $15 a month to play a game by myself.
Still cares enough to interject an opinion, though.

I think you got it pretty right Devs, Good job on this, you have my arpoval. now you only have to make ion technology be what its suposed to be (effective vs electric devices) and we could finally start to feel like this game has something to do with the star wars universe.

How about Add Barking droids being able to actually have some options for customers in a radial menu, things like Email Me a Waypoint, and the person asking gets an email to where the shop is located. Some nice customer service things like that.

Also, is there any concern that fields of droids are going to cause massive lag in cities, such as outside the Starports in Coronet and Theed, like it was the day after vehicles were released (and still continues to this day at least). Lots of advertising droids could cause some troubles.

I do... I love the idea of sending in a mouse droid and blowing it up... kinda like payback for having to grind those little suckers.

Wow, mix/max/stack entertainer and combat modules. Sounds like being a DE might become fun again!

My only request: Let's thoroughly test this on TC...

The last thing we need is droids standing around in cities barking ads. There is enough spam as it is.

Dev team, fellow DEs. I have two similar posts to what I am about to post here in the DE forum. I have a few ideas about modules or enhancements for REAL utility droids, and I am wondering if they are possible. I think that they would be VERY useful, and also boost the DE economy.

1. Survey probe droids. As TH said, droids are all the same under the hood, so this seems like it would be an easy thing to implement. I was thinking we could roll two Arakyn BH probe droids into a schematic (or just use one), add a few more components and resources, and voila, off-planet probe droid that reports back the resources, and highest concentrations at the time. Of course, the reliablility of the probe's information could be subject to a random check, or based on the experimented stats of the droid.

2. Maintenance droid. Would it be possible to fix the LE repair droid not being able to use the repair module, and allow it to hold a power core? Either that, or add a slot to the power droid so that it can hold a repair module. Add a datapad storage unit (lvl 6) that will hold up to 10 waypoints, so that the droid could be sent out to repair and maintain harvesters, factories, etc. This droid would be like any player character, and subject to aggro if it wanders through the wrong area. The droid could take a beating, and be destroyed. I think this would be a SWEET droid, and could possibly be considered consumable, which would help the crafters immensely. Go bull market!

These seem really fundamental and so useful, I would love to hear some developer feedback about these. Thanks very much. Take it easy folks!

Sorry, forgot one other

* BLL's: Our regular BLL (to my knowledge, haven't looked at the schematic in an age) still does not have any purpose. With the new modules being proposed, can we have a general module or cluster for it, and an additional one for the Adv-BLL so that they scale properly in the cost/reason to make argument?
