They are *NOT* limiting every single droid in the game to DH. They only types of droid a DH can handle are Heavy Combat Droids these are 11+ types of Droids. All the rest of the stuff we make goes to the rest of the players. I dont get you guys at all. You think the MES Droid is now only going to be used my DH? TH said Heavy Combat Droids, so I dont see what the problem is with that.

Sure I would like to see more droids, but I dont want to see *every* player in the game whiping out a Level 30 droid everytime. I dont want to see Theed covered in Combat Droids from Novice Marksmans.

If you have better ideas, lets hear them. Flaming does little, it does not matter if a Droid has a Brain, a lvl 10 Gnort has a Brain too.

For the sake of game balance it is simply not a good idea to put pet tanks / damage dealers and crafting in the same profession. Some people who really gimp themselves to pick up armorsmith, weaponsmith, and architect so they can make some money along with their combat professions are going to get the shaft. That's not really balance at all. Creature Handler is bad enough as it is (coming from an ex-MCH here, just retired two days ago). Imagine tacking a whole crafting profession on top of that.

DE isn't going to be like it is now. You folks are going to be making a tonof money off the DHs. I know it doesn't make sense movie wise but it does make sense game wise. If what you propose goes through, EVERYONE will be a droid engineer. Please try to see the bigger picture here.

There's a big difference between a lvl 10 gnort and a droid with an electronic positron brain - one doesn't leave big piles of steamy/chunky poops all over the place. If you can't see the fundamental difference between droids and creatures then there's no way you can understand so much opposition to a DH profession

No, what I understand is that DE's have yet to really give a reason why they are against Heavy Combat Droid being DH only.....other than the "I want to Build them, and use them" then that makes DE an Uber Profession. Heck, why would you be anything else in the game but a DE then?

I know *I* would go for a DE/Carbineer Combo, maybe a little TKA.

Its not going to happen, talking about a Droid Brain and a Gnort Brain does not really matter. But if you want to be right...then yes, I think a Droid Brain is better than a Gnort Brain.

Well I'm sorry to tell you but this is a game, and fundamentally they are the same. They both attack and can take damage. I imagine droids will all have ranged attacks as well, making them even far superior to most creatures. For a measly 63 skill points you not only get the best PvE class in the game, but you get a money making crafting class on top of that. Now tell me that isn't a can of worms.

I'm sure if you sat down and thought about it for an hour you could come up with a feasible explanation why only a certain amount of people can effectively control advanced combat droids. Think of it as computer engineers vs. computer programmers.

Monthigos, if you knew and understood DE, you'd realize that we really don't care about making money. If that was the goal of most DE's we'd have given up and gone Weaponsmith, or even CH and farmed missions. We are not suggesting that DE be given sole access to whatever new droids we're given. DE's want EVERYONE (with restrictions) to be able to use what we craft. A simple certification system that required a master elite class to control the highest level droids, would be MUCH simpler to code than an entire new profession.

A Cert system again, so not only is a Master of an Elite Combat Class a fighter, but they area Droid Handler too. Interesting...so your willing to allow a Combat Class control a strong droid *only* for them...but yet a DH class is out of the question.

And again....gezz....DE's droids will still be used by the vast public. The ONLY thing the public cannot use are Heavy Combat Droids. Thats one set of droids we cant sell to people but DH's, the rest are still ok.

Well unfortunately what you want is a Droid Handler, not a Droid Engineer. Look at the weaponsmith. Can he use what he crafts? No, he has to spend over 63 more skill points to be effective in his weapons. How can you justify having a smaller pointpenalty and being the most effective PvE class in the game, and a crafting profession. The two _HAVE_ to be seperated. Unless you want to explain to everyone who has a crafting classand a combat class why you are better than them with fewer points...

Because we do NOT want "uber" combat droids! DO JEBUS!

We want decent combat droids, that DOES NOT mean we think we should be able to solo nightsisters, we do not want the powergamers going into DE just for the pets and muddying up the profession with sub-par droids. We want to be able to use and sell every droid we can make. They CAN make a certification system that works, the one proposed by Drashk isnt the only one that has been offered. There's ways of keeping low level droids out of noobie hands and getting them to the people who should be able to use them.

A weaponsmith can use what he crafts... may not be as effective as sombody with the certifications, but he can use them.

An armorsmith can use what he crafts...

An architect can use what he crafts...

A chef can use what he crafts...

Any questions?

Yes but if you do that you're really cutting off the potential of combat droids. Sure you could have a limit of lvl 20 combat droids, but then that makes combat droids practically useless. Have you ever seen how fast a level 20 creature goes down in battle at the end game? Have you ever fought a droideka before? Well unless you're planning on gimping those you won't ever see those as combat droids.

If you want to craft AND control droids then you should have to spend 150ish points like everyone else (including basic classes). However if you want to craft and have some basic combat ability, shouldn't the level 10 combat droids (the ones everyone else can use) do it for you?

Only the weaponsmith is relevant to this discussion because we are talking about combat balance here. A weaponsmith without weapons skills has no prayer of taking on anything stronger than a gnort. What if that weaponsmith got certs and and skills all in his tree? How would the pistoleer, the carbineer or the rifleman feel?
