To add a little more to my previous post, I know EXACTLY what I HAVE, and it is sorely lacking. Me, and every other DE in the game want to know what we are GOING to have. I am sure you are all wet about it, but we don't have a clue. Based on your past judgement, and what you have plugged during and before your tenior as DE Coorespondent, I really can't see getting excited about the same thing as YOU. YOU will not be the judge of what I find exciting.

Ya know TK, I have not been negative towards you in the pastbecause I know you have a tough job. I can't let this one pass. I have been here reading and posting since the very begining. I have seen all manner of posts from every side of every issue.

This is the most asinine (1) thing I have EVER seen posted from someone who should know better.

I respectfully disagree. He made a comment that we didn't have information (basically). All I was point out that it wasn't fair to bash anything yet since he didn't know the real deal yet.

And...yes, I've already asked twice now about the ETA on releasing the updated info. I don't know when it will happen or why they decided to wait (yet).

Thereare hundreds of post pleading for nothing more than communication and information. You dang right we don't know. You can't or won't tell us, and the DEVs won't tell us. And don't give me that line about them being afraid to tell us. It just don't wash.

It may not wash for you but it is what it is...they aren't going to want to push a publish list to the forums that might not be fully and 100% 'locked' and approved for TC. When it is, I'm sure TH will make the info push to the boards. All I can say is that I'm not yet allowed to release the information update.

You'll just have to trust me that it contains some major items.

Quit being such a apple polishing sycophant (2) and fix it. A post like that is nothing but troll bait, and it seriously erodes any credibility you have left.

    1. Asinine: 1) Utterly stupid or silly: asinine behavior.2) Of, relating to, or resembling an ass.

    2. Syncophant: 1) A servile self-seeker who attempts to win favor by flattering influential people.

Hmmm...well, I'm sorry you see me this way. That's okay. I understand why you say that. And, I'm not here to win anyone's favor, man. I'm here to get some changes happening for DEs that will help us all out. I couldn't care less what the Devs actually think of me one way or another. As long as the results happen, that's what matters.

And I can tell you that this new information has some "results".....in spades.

The number one priority that I have right now is getting this info out to you ASAP. Considering what I've brought to the DEs lately, do you not think that this would be my very highest issue?

I still don't understand, yet find it humerous, as to why game companies keep everything under wraps. Like someone is going to come along and steal the idea when another company has already said this is what they are doing? LOL. Or, perhaps it is a matter of National Security. Perhaps a terrorist may take a cyber swoop bike and ride it into the side of my minivan. (no disrespect to the many victims intended) Or perhaps the game companies just don't know what they are doing, and their communication amongst themselves are a mere brainstorm of ideas rather than developing any one or set of ideas. Then and only then are those approved ideas actually input into a/the game 2 days prior to its release? Perhaps this is the reason for the many bugs in this and other games. Too many ideas are brought to the table and too many of the approved ideas are not focused on properly to release them undamaged.

Imagine a flying car was produced for public use. Imagine going to the car lot and the car has dings, scratches and paint mishaps all over it. Imagine the seats are torn and the headlights flicker strangely when you have the radio on. Imagine the salesman telling you: "It may not work properly 100% of the time. The manufacturer had many ideas for a new type of vehicle on the table. It takes time to develop these things. They will be working over the next several months to improve its functionality, design and concept. We expect to be in tip top shape by the end of the year. For this I am certain, but am unable to tell you anything more." My question to readers. Would you buy this flying car? Would you trust the craftsmanship after what you have seen and heard?

Now I understand you would be putting your real life in the seat of this vehicle, unlike this fantasy world of SWG. However, whether it is our flesh and blood or our sanity and entertainment, what is the difference? Because it is merely our entertainment and sanity, does that justifycompromising one more than the other merely because it is not a physical threat? I ask, would you watch a TV show you thought could be better and constantly had screwups in the story with an accompaniment of mistakes in the audio and video bringing black lines across the screen on occassion and high decible scraping sounds which make you jump? I think not.

So, then why do we play this game? Why do we put ourselves through the reading of flames, the lack of some content which we would liked to have seen back when this game was in Beta? Well, the answer may be found in our own mentality and likings. Some of us became addicted to this game prior to our realization of the mistakes. Some of us enjoy the challenges these things bring forth. Some of us are stuck on being optimistic and know that things will improve. Some of us have nothing better to do. Then there are those who simply do not know any better and continue to put themselves through the turmoil.

As you can see, there are many other things besides our entertainment at stake. For some people, this is a life to them. For some people, this is an escape from the real world. For these things to be struck down with the almighty SOE hand is just not always right, but what can we do? That is a question for which we each have a different answer for ourselves.

For me, this has been an escape world. I come here because in real life I don't have a community of people I am part of. In real life it is difficult for me to find people with similar interests. In real life there are no droids (yet). Should SOE slam the door on my foot again? Well I suppose I will just wait until another community comes along which I can join. I just would like to see a bit more care directed to some of the more relevant individuals in this game. And to me, Droids are VERY relevant to Star Wars, and in turn, I am a part of that relevance. To give that relevance any less attention than reasonable is blasphemy to George Lucas, to Star Wars, and to the followers of that relevance.

To answer the first part of this...it is because they are scared of disappointing people.

When this game was in development, they talked about vehicles and player cities quite a bit. They always said, however, that nothing is certain until they officially released their official list of features. When they finally released that list of features cities and vehicles were not on it...and people went nuts. They called the developers lairs and accused them of trying to cheat players...they were flamed not only on this site but all over the internet with people trying to trash their reputations. Again, never did they say that these things were deffinitely going to be in the end game, and stressed that things could change...but a lot of people didn't care and continued to send them hate mail...and while they might be used to this it paniced their backers.

It was the same thing when I was correspondent of chefs, the same thing happened. They showed me a rough draft of the general direction they were going in, much like they are doing for TK right now. Now, between that rough draft and the patch there was a lot of changes. There were things in the rough draft that the developers decided were too powerful, too game unbalancing and decided to take them out. At the same time, they put different stuff in. Most chefs do't know what was in that early draft so they can't miss anything. If they had, I know a lot of them would be upset that it was not put into the game.

there are a lot of things the developers would like to do but would prove to be techincally impossible (they still have technical limitations) or game unbalancing.

Wether you agree with it or not, that is the reasoning behind them holding things close to their chest. They don't like releasing things until they are sure it can actually be put in the game without being unbalanced.

And the reason why ID are getting some attention today because they were told that they were getting some stuff in publish 8, but it was pushed back. You all are not being told that. When Publish 8 comes to the test center in the next week or two (or day or two?) droid engineers will be getting all the attention.

Ok, I am done for now. Enjoy.

I thought that was what the In Development forum was for. They post things that are in the works and we discuss them and they tweak things or not depending on the discussions.

I just wanted to stop by and let you folks what to expect. The Image Designer enhancements were pretty time consuming in terms of art, development and programming. A couple of the items in the list Kwee has been discussing were actually very intensive and to do them right, its going to take a little extra time.

So what we will be doing is an "Image Designer" mini-publish during the Publish 8 cycle. My best guess at this time is early May.

If you read what he says, they are telling the image designers that their stuff is being delayed until after the main part of publish 8. (Remember, the main publish comes in, then a mini publish). Are you really complaining that TH is not coming in here to give you bad news? Perhaps TH does not have any bad news to give you?

"You're getting everything you want, but its going to be a few weeks later" is not exactly "bad news" in my book.

If it is, I beg TH to pummel the DE's with bad news.

A jaded, cynical DE could look at Every post TH makes in ID as twisting the knife in the back of DE. Good thing there arent any jaded and cynical DEs.

And if TH wont comment on items that havent been finished, i guess based on his comments today, the ID stuff is set in stone. Havent heard much about droids though. I wonder what that means...

Patch 8 - Droids Rebuilt should be retitled Galaxy Makeover.

I don't blame them for not posting here. I'm just hoping with the good deal of recent DE turnover the tone shifts a bit more positive as many of those who are always negative leave. Before I get bitched out, I've got nothing against arguments, nothing against debates, and nothing against a little fire under the devs to get things moving. Its the pointless and continuous rants and flames that are the problem.

Interesting theory.
Maybe you could show us those posts they made that turned into full flames.

I'm just currious, never saw one.

Tk do you have any idea HOW LONG this community has been waiting, BETA, before Sin was corro. Your analagy of going to moon doesnt fly, well actually it does cause they go to the moon and get rocks and come back alot quicker then they have done anything with de. Sorry they have failed miserably and defending them puts you right there with them.

What kind of wonderful things could come along frankly?

They have taken away low lvl pets totally, Low lvl droids, Seriously tell me one single time you ever see anyone using a droid or pet that isnt a ch in this game. They talk about balance but what balance can this prof have?

Guns can be sliced or varied drastically for quality and add powerups

Armor the same

People the same

Droids well they just suck, so explain to me how balance has a single thing to do with it? If they wanted balance then ever gun armor etc would be like droids. The only thing in this game balanced is the lack of content for this prof.

Yeh there are utility droids coming, a r2 with disko lights ARE YOU KIDDING ME. Who thought that gem up.

Sorry bud, it stinks nothing is changing, there promise for better communication was like all others empty.

And frankly your position as corospondent didnt come from your wonderful thought out posts in the beggining it came from the sucking up that was done after you said what you really felt back when your words actually meant somthing.

For your own benefit quit this scam of a post you hold and save what respect people still have for you.

I could go on and on about the LIES and posts Thunderheart put on these boards PAGES of them over time, and yet we still hear it takes time. Have you by chance checked your friends list recently Time isnt on there side anymore, Games areon the horizon and frankly at this pace they wont survive.

Sorry for the rant but i respect your posts of the past, one of the few i truely thought had some meaning when they wrote, but recently its nothing more then a thunder pawn.

Best Regards

I'm glad you posted this, because I tried to reply to it myself but just got a headache because I feel like I'm talking about Bush - how can anyone keep a straight face saying that stuff, let alone actually believe it.

It's scary, because some people do believe what little gnorts tell them.

LOL, poor TK . . . maybe he should stop posting here like the devs?

Anyway, AO, do forgive him, he's just trying to do his "job". What do you expect from someone who is not being paid? Heck, even those who ARE being paid are not doing as fine a job as he is! Lighten up a little, I have great respect for your knowledge and experience, and hope that you can divert some energy back into brainstorming again. You are one of the last surviving "old pros", please share your wisdom with us! Maybe even dig up old posts which you think are aces and revive them again. It'll be hard work though, so it's your call. =)

Jem too, just by being here, you've shown that you still care for the DE profession. Let's stop the Dev and TK bashing and make the most of what we can. It's just a game after all, no point in getting all flustered up over ill-placed comments and biasness.

However, I do feel that the points you made are quite relevant. Perhaps posting your comments in the dev boards (if you haven't done so already) would be a good idea!

Vimes -- although I agree with a lot of your point, the inability to communicate in a clear and timely manner has really damaged customer confidence in the professionalism of this dev team.

There was no clearer example than the Player City fiasco where they only announced the concept & implementation of a City Cap the day before cities went live ... and barely 12 hours before the Publish. This had a huge impact on dozens of groups of players who had been organizing to form their city since pre-Beta. They got the worst of both worlds: enraged customer reaction and really disrupting the plans of many customers that they had strongly encouraged through marketing & dev statements for months.

I can't agree that saying little or nothing is better than saying a lot and sometimes taking heat for it ... not in this particular product, where customer input & satisfaction is so key to the project's long-term success (or failure). Really a D- grade for SOE in this area.
