Thread: Am I, the Only One, that still Wants Combat Droids ?
Lots of people want droid capable of combat to some degree, even if it's just a sightly more powerful probot. Preferentially we would have liked droids we could sell to anyone, barring that perhaps some combat droids only we could use.
Unfortunately, among DEs, there seems to be a "Cult of Self-Castration" which purports that any amount of combat ability added to DE will be unbalancing and will fling us all into the sun. Many members of this cult also enjoy kissing lots of Dev ass. Few are willing to acknowledge the existence of this cult, let alone oppose it, since many of it's members are also one-star cowards.

YES! I want combat droids, and I want to be able to use them.
It may be the ONLY way I can blow all these skill points on the skills I need to be a Master DE AND still get to participate in the content-rich part of this game. (That would be the GCW and the dungeons. Those of you DEs that have adventured there have tasted the salty solution of the cloning vat).
O-Jen
The only reason we are getting combat mods and lvl 10 combat droids is because they promised droids, and since WE decided that high level combat droids was not a or the priority of the DE's, they had to put something in. What a waste though. We already have a level 10 droid that no one really uses. So, giving R2D2 a blaster wont fix anything. They would have been better off spending the publish 7 time with nothing but bug fixes for DE and forget about the combat mods.
The only saving grace is the potential that utility droids in publish 8 bring. I hope they treat this serious and not just create a couple moving fog machines and move on ![]()
I was one that wouldn't have mind some powerful combat droids, but I am willing to wait for the DH profession,If they fix the bugs and do the utility droid correct.
But they really need to let us pull multiple droid at once, and I didn't see that in any of the publish notes.
Ireally miss the days when all the DE population asked was for bug fixes and a Droideka to control. I remember having hope and dreams back then. We'd get current working droids, and something really special that we could operate as a kind of icing.
Course then the Devs announced "Droid Invasion" and everything went to pot. Then the invasion fell flat and things stayed bad. Now they announced that we'd get a few new utility droids which are interesting, but by no accounts of major real value. True, all of them offer interesting features, but I was always one who enjoyed that extra icing.
I think the basic point of this thread is this: we know we're getting utility droids. fine. How much would it hurt to say 'let DEs have a L16 droideka pet? either we get it for ourselves or we don't get it at all. Simple as that. Is it worth saying "I don't think anyone deserves to have a little bit better life because it doesn't fit in with my ideals of being a true crafter?" and even if you do say it, what messed up ideals do you have anyway? It's a game. Does it really matter whether we're a crafting class or a combat class? No! All that matters is if we are having fun.
I really miss having fun as a DE.
What was I saying Boberfett? Here, I'll post it again, and perhaps after playing this profession for a few months you can read it again and post intelligently ![]()

I agree with ya, "TheWoody". All I really wanted was to be able to have two Droidekas at my side while I roamed around. Or hey, here is a concept - being able to have an R2 and C3P0 out at the same time. And I don't see why that would have been an irritant for "the crafters". If ya didn't want a Droideka for yourself - DONT make one.
Anyways, Dok Ho'Gi has found a better life, waiting for one day DE are made to be what should have been all along.

Awww, gee, that's all you want? Would you like a Star Destroyer too? Free jedi slot? You are a DE after all, aim high!
And why this lame fixation on Droideka? All I can figure is that you're too young to remember anything Star Wars pre-JarJar.

Why do you get extra icing? What about everybody else? What makes the DE profession so special that they should get extra icing? I imagine chefs are good with knives, do they get some special knife fighting ability?

"All that matters is that we're having fun." You don't get it at all. You're like bratty child. Give me what I want, I don't care how it affects anything else as long as I get what I want.
Why not let combat classes make their own weapons and armor? Why should they have to buy their stuff from crafters? After all, the pure combatants shouldn't care if they get to make their own gear. And it's all about fun, right? So if the Master Rifleman/Teras Kasi Master wants to make all his own weapons, why shouldn't we let him? If that's his idea of fun who are we to question it?
In fact, let's just let anybody build their own droids, even if they're not DEs? They might have fun with it, and that's all that counts. I'm sure everybody would love to tinker with building their own droids. Then everybody can just build their own Droideka.
