Thread: Are droid engineers really jerks
Mouse ... hehe 1k, thats with Med6 and Food-Chem Station...
5K is rediculous ... he has dilusions of being a weaponsmith or architect.
If you ever play on Corbantis look up my shop I always have some in stock.

Here ya go bro heres my prices to give you some kinda of idea what i myself charge on Radiant.
R5 ADV with 110 medical and medium armor = 6K
R4 ADV with 110 medical and medium armor = 8K
R2 with 110 medical and medium armor = 10k (when i get to ADV ill charge 12 to 15 for the 40 resists )
all above have players choice of crafting stations except for structure which i cannot make yet.
Now as for MSE Mouse with 110 medical and medium armor 1k.
And Mse Mouse with 110 medical , medium armor and crafting station i charge 100K .
Heres why : i charge 400cr for the actual MSE, 100cr per armor mod ( 2 ), 2k cr for the crafting station of their choice, And 97,500 cr for the compression of the crafting station , Because Crafting Stations WERE NOT MEANT TO GO INSIDE A MSE MOUSE . =D
this is just what i go by you can charge whatever you want and goober out your droids by putting mods in droids where they dont belong if ya want ![]()
Live and let live, I say... Charge whatever you want & can get for a droid, or make 'em cheaper... Bottom line, it's your game.
Personally, I charge for resources and, to a smaller extent, difficulty or level of the droid or module...Charging for the crafting station "because it's a crafting station" just didn't make sense to me... Maybecar dealerships should charge 30k for a Pinto "because it's a car," or Wal-Mart should charge$30 for a shirt "because it's a shirt." /shrug
As a low level DE, I figured out such a scheme for the lower level droids:
Resource x Market Value (Roughly 3cr/unit on Intrepid, depending on the resource) + a variable Cr/Unit for profit... Lower level droids don't take much or long to make, so I decided that early items weren't too tough to make, so I added on 3Cr/Unit for my Profit...
An R5 Droid with a Crafting station takes 42 for the motive, 24 for the sensor, 158 for the Arm, 100 for the station, and 152 for the R5 itself... For a grand total of about 476 resources... Multiplied by 6, 2856 Cr each. Just for ease, I rounded it up to 3k. I've made most of my cash from selling R5 Crafting Stations from the Bazaar... I traveled from Rori, to Naboo, to Corellia each day, and dumped off one of each, and sold them within a couple days. Once you can make all 4 crafting stations, you're putting up 12k on one planet every couple days.
Anyway, I've made a pretty **edit** good living as a DE by charging reasonable prices. We'd all be screwed if an Architect charged 10-15 Cr/Unit for a heavy harvester "because it's a heavy harvester."
Whether you charge high, or charge low... keep on crafting, it'll be worth it one day =P

Au-Ru: Don't think of it as a car dealership asking 30K for a Pinto. Think of it as an expensive option package for the car (which is really what the crafting station is, an option package fora droid.) For example, I went shopping for a Corvette a while back. I could have gotten the really nice, top of the line 'vette for 30K, but if I wanted the super sweet Calloway package, it was another 25K for the "option" package that would have made it run down the road on it's tailpipes.
I took my lead for pricing droids from another DE on my server and it's served me quite well. I charge a base price for the droid and then charge per option. Right now, I only sell those droids which have an advanced frame to display, except the Binary Load Lifter, Protocol and R3 (as I've still got 3 skills boxes to go 'til Master and *still* haven't found a nice supply of the specific steels for the BLLs.)
Quick Pricing Example:
R2 Base Price = 5000 credits
Any Crafting Station Module = 5000 credits
Data / Medical / Storage = 300 credits per level of module
Armor = 500 credits per level of module
R2s hold 5 modules, plus 2 armor. So at most, you're looking at 5000+5000+(1800*4)+(3000*2) or 23200 for the R2 unit. If you've researched droids in the slightest, the consumer will know he can get away not using the Level 6 modules for all parts and reduce his price more. I know when I go shopping for anything, RL or in-game, I spend some time to learn about what I'm buying (well, at least when it's something akin to buying a car or other expensive item.)
As a lot of folks have stated, it's all about what the market will allow for. My pricing allows me to sell good, high quality, custom-made droids and still have time for myself (i.e. *not* be chained to the crafting station.)
As always, your mileage may vary.
When I was a very young DE I used to think like some of the few that posted here they sell R4 adv with crafting stations for 3k.
Then I realized that my time and effort were worth more and so was my product.
I sell the ADV R2 or ADV Surgical with 110 med capability and food/chem station for 29k. I have sold 3 this week. The surgical sold within 2 hours of me placing it on the vendor.
That 3k droid you sold means you're never going to sell them another one. They don't use them in combat, and therefore they will never decay. You have to factor in the fact that you only sell this droid once per customer.
If you like getting 3k for yours while I get 29k for mine... have fun with that.
You mean, that broke newbie that bought my crafting station early on in his gaming career will never want an upgraded version with Med + crafting station? He'llnever, ever want a probot either? He won't come back and buy a Protocol or R2 unit"for the novelty of having one?" Well, crap... Now you tell me =/
Au-Ru Blasterkin (4,3,3,4) Droid Engineer on Intrepid
A "broke newbie" doesn't need the level of droid I'm talking about. A 110 med module with a private food / chem station isn't needed until the player has advanced enough to have complex schematics, and by then he should have enough money to buy one.
So no, that "broke newbie" won't be coming back if you sell him your best droid for 3k.
That Pinto and shirt crap makes no sense. We have different droids we can make, all of them do the same exact thing when a module is put in it, so if we go by your example we should charge the same amount for all droids since they all do the same thing; And to clarify, a crafting station mod price should be based on its usefulness, that is why it should be a price similar to a Arch crafting station...hell if we could get a effectiveness rating on them I'd charge more than an arch station...why? one word Mobility. Like I said some people have no interest in the business aspect of crafting items. You want to sell them for resource cost go ahead, but you'd save yourself time if you just put up the resources for sale instead of making the droid, you'd make the same money. Again, businesses set prices for itemsbased onthe usefulness of an item, its popularity, and other variables...the cost of the resources it takes to make said item is just the starting point not the maximum value of said item. If your happy with the minimum profit you get from selling at cost, thats great. But I and many others sell droids based on the value it has to the public and I have done very well, selling at those "high" prices, without complaint from anyone.
Being a droid engineer yourself, you should have understood why he charged 5K. It's not the mouse droid you're paying but the portability of using a chemi crafting station.
Plus, wouldn't you discourage using mouse droids as this ruins and undermines the rest of the DE population who want to make a decent profit by selling higher end droids with the same modules ?
Does anyone here read an entire message before flaming?
Sly:
The level of droids you're talking about aren't the ones I sell to broke newbies either... I can't even make 110 med modules yet... So I've never sold the best droid to anyone for anything, let alone just 3k. Also, Have you ever been a novice medic, basically making your living of the 100-500 credit /tips people give you? That "broke newbie" medic would find a helluva use for my R5 Food/Chem crafting station droid... And since he can only have one droid out at a time, I'm certain once he climbs his skill tree a little more, he'll be coming back for the 110 Med, Food/Chem crafting station droid... When that happens, I promise you I won't sell it to him for 3k
Cyber:
That's exactly my point... There are different cars, and different shirts... and all of them do the same thing, Drive people around, and keep you from getting arrested for indecent exposure... Add a few more "resources" to your car, and you've got a nicer, more expensive car. A MSE Crafting station, and an R2 Crafting station do the same thing, they just look different and contain different resources. Did you bother to read my post? Or just the first couple lines? I sell nothing at cost... An R5 W/Crafting station module takes 476 resources... If you tried to sell 476 inorganic resources on the bazaar for 3k on Intrepid, you'd wait a long, long time if it's not one helluvan awesome resource.
Anyway, The reason I made my original post... I've seen ALOT of DE's crying on these forums that they can't make anything worth selling, and can't make a living as a DE... I'm not flaminganyone'sprices or callinganyone a jerk or retarded, Just trying to help someone see how I mademy cash.Several of us have done it, no reason why everyone can't.
