Thread: Pricing thoughts for new items?

One issue that oft gets overlooked is percieved value. Do you think Nike Air Jordans cost more to make than Wal*Mart brand shoes? Nope. It's all about what the public thinks is worth it. Sure, flight computers are easy to make, but they are also crucial components. Frankly, a good DE CAN charge more, because people will come to him knowing that he's got what they need in stock, and he can answer any questions they might have.

I'm one of those people who'd rather buy an item from a knowledgeable, frendly, top-of-his-field crafter for 150k than buy something off the bazaar by some fly-by-night grinder. It's not all about the credits.

like i said if you can get 150k then fine but wish people stop bitching about people who dont want to charge that.

let me know if you got screen shot someone walking down street with pair flight comps on.

Just remember that V1 Flight Computer can be crafted by Novice DE. I already saw quite a few new DE'sstarting out now. As it is very hard to sell anything as a begining DE I expect that they will produce a lot of Flight Computers.

Also, the low level Flight Computers will not be in use for very long by the pilots. I do not expect to get high proces for them. It may be different for the upper levels though.

so now i see what brought about Straker's other post. I must say, I'm dis-enheartened by some of my fellow DE's here. This is a great change for us to bring a new product to the market at "FAIR" value.

Currently, I plan on charging

v1 FC = 10000

v2 FC = 25000

v3 FC = 50000

V4 FC = 75000

v5 FC = 100000

v6 FC = 150000

unprogrammed Command chips

5000 / 1

22500 / 5

110000 / 25

I figure this way novice DE's can sell the easy item on the market for 5-6K undercut me, yet still make good money so they can advance.

I sold 1 crate of 25 command chips today. They'd been on my vendor for less than 12 hours, so 110,000 is a good price for SOMEONE out there.. probably quite a few more in my mind.

Sure we can undercut each other, and try to think "hey volume.. that's the ticket" but that's wrong.. ther's a finite amount of droids/parts to sell so for each and every one that can be sold I think we need to get together, and get the best return out of our profession we can.

other pricing

shipwright crafting, 10 item storage, lvl 6 astromech = 100K (sold 5 already)

lvl 1 astromech, with 10 item storage r5 = 50K

/shrug... we'll see how I do.

Zork is this a joke? do you really thing many will pay 150k for a lv6 flight comp when thats about cost of a large house.

Okay, if a master Level ships costs over 1 million, why should a v6 flight computer NOT be 150K? that's a proportional cost to ship itself. i'm not try to gouge, I truly think 150K is an acceptable price for a peice of equipmentthat master level pilotwill NEVER EVER have to replace. Now, i think we're a couple weeks away from really seeing any v6 sales, or any master level ships/players, so maybe things will change during that time. who know's. If they dont' sell well, I can always drop the price. My pricing has nothing to do with how much I make/cpu, I only concerened with pricing this item on a fair level with the market. If someone can afford to pay 1 million plus for a spaceship, they can afford a paltry 150K for a v6 flight computer. NO JOKE!

Someone paid me 110K for a create of 25 progrmaming chips, that people are considering selling for 500-1K a pop.... when JTL comes out, that person will probably program 20 of those chips, sell them for 20-50K a peice programmed, and make their money back.what are you (all de's in general, not you specifically stravros) going to do when your 500 or 1K command chips are being programmed and resold for 20, 50, 100K?? (if this happens) keep selling yours for 500 or 1K?I would hope not!

I realize that many playing DE aren't in it for the business and just wanna make droids for their friends, but if that is how you want to play, then do it, but don't stock a vendor, and don't undercut the DE's on a server that are trying to make a viable business with the droids, and NO alt account to support them. too many DE's use an alt account to support their crafter character... we can be self supporting, I'm living proof.

But you see, that's the thing. To some people 150k is nothing. If he sells one for 150k, then he equals 150 sales of another DE at 1k. lol.

aye... and I won't be forced to restock as much either!!! more time out in the field selling droids!!

I really wish we could all be on the same page on the pricing issue. If the dev's wont' give us what we need to have a business like the chef's, armoursmiths, weaponsmiths, BE's, Tailors, and now shipwrights... it's up to us to band together, and make this galaxy a better place for us.... i think i'll take off my rose colored glasses now, since there's a fat chance of that happening

Originally, I was pricing them starting at 5k and ending up to 55 for the v6.

Instead... I've now repriced mine to

v1 5k

v2 10k

v3 15k

v4 20k

v5 25k

v6 30k

I already sold a v3 ...

The program chips, I will probably price them out at 5k each... (that extrusive ore is a pain... ugh...)

I started out with the same price scheme that Drasshk posted. Completely sold out of 10 of each.

Now I'm going 10k for lvl 1, 5k increments up to 35k for lvl 6, see how that goes.

Immediately after I changed my prices to match Drashk's proposed list, a bunch of everything sold. Looks like I'll be leaving them there for a while.

Thanks for the reply, Drashk. I'm just going to go ahead and standardize on what you listed. For all I knew I WAY undercharging on the computers. Nice to know we're on the same page.

You think you were undercharging?

I was charging 500 for a v5 computer!

I would price these roughly 10-15k higher then some of the weapons of ur server because every1 will be able to use them and they will want to use them... mch higher in demand

weapons on my server (*crafted*) sell about 1k-24k and more if they r using looted componants... so i'd say the lvl6 should sell roughly 35-45k which works out cause thats how much some of our droids sell for

For starters on flight computers:

2.5k - v1

5k - v2

7.5k - v3

9k - v4

11.5k - v5

13k - v6

2k - unprogrammed chips

I may increase prices once I get a feel for the Ahazi market on these. My feeling is that flight computers don't require any sub components and can be crated by the hundreds (if you happen to have the room).

R5 or R4 (may just go with R5 for vendor stock)

12k - v1

15k - v2

17.5k - v3

20k - v4

25k - v5

30k - v6

Side Note -

I can't stand the saying "XXXXXXX credits isn't alot for some people." Well - most casual players aren't "those" people. For me, DE is providing a service to the game community and enough credits for myself to support the business and whatever Iwant to do.I'm not giving away my craftables, in fact, stuff I have to personally hand craft is indeed more priced to account for my time.
