I'm sure that this has been asked before, but are DE's going to be dependent on Master Weaponsmiths for supplying combat droids with weapons?

R.I.P
- Wyeth (8/30/03-06/3/05) Master CorSec Pilot / Master Shipwright / Master Artisan / Master Merchant (ex-Master Weaponsmith)
Tombstone - Was one-shot incapped one time too many and never rose again.

R.I.P - Zadox (12/8/03-06/1/05) - Master Rifleman, Master Ranger, Master Scout (ex-Master Commando)
All accounts have been cancelled. Good luck to all that remain.

I have a burning question I'd like to get answered if at all possible. It was mentioned that we could build CL10-level combat droids in the future. What about better combat droids? Will we be able to build those? If so, who will be able to use them? Are we going to get powerful combat droids (perhaps Droideka) that are DE-only?

Thanks,

-Raystonn

Nice to read a detailed post about DEs for once. Dunno about protocols with blasters, but everything esle seemed cool. Will follow with a detailed reply later. For now:

Finally, a specific list of answers to some of the biggest problems plaguing the DE profession. I owe you an apology, Thunderheart. Because of all the cynicism and complaining on these forums, I was quickly becoming cynical and unbelieving myself. I hated the fact that I was beginning to hate DE (because of all the rudeHolocroner DEs, lack of useful droids, drastic drop in droid sales, etc.) because I had poured so much of my time, energy and credits into becoming a Master DE.

I actually feel a bit more enthused about our profession again. I'm going to keep the faith until January.

First, Sintrosi is a girl according to Xaldain's FAQ page. ( i assume this is true. I haven't seen it contradicted yet and it's one of her sticky posts ).

Second, thanks for the update. I must disagree with the module stacking however. Why make MDE if you can just cram 2 lvl 4 mods into a droid and call it the same thing? Master has nothing woth making since the BLL and ADV Protocol suck eggs. The ADV R3 is nothing more than a clear topped ADV R2. Why spend all the points to master this craft ?

Follow up question to this, what about putting General Socket Cluster Modules into Non-Cluster general slots? Is this a feature or a bug?

Ummm, Thunderheart?

The R5 is the LOWEST of the astromechs.

The progression, from worst to best is:

R5,R4,R2,R3

Just so you don't answer as if 'High level item' = 'Low level item' too much :-)

I believe Thunderheart's point is that even with only a single 'step' of difference (MSE to R5) the best made lower droid should not be as good as the best made higher droid, but that it is also possible to make a great lower droid and a really crummy higher droid.

This doesn't necessarily involve capping the modules a droid can hold. A droid with two modules will be more useful than a droid with one, either having a higher rating due to stacking or else having a second function. Even in the case of the MSE and R5 where they both have one module slot you could argue that the R5 is a better droid, having more HAM.

That said, I would still like to see caps put onto modules. I dislike the idea of an MSE with a 110 medical rating and the ability to hold a million units of resources. It just seems a bit silly.

You must have missed that post. Sintrosi admitted to being a male of the species. But there is a story there that explains the boy/girl controversy.

Thanks for the update Thunderkurt. I was beginning to think that you were avoiding us because everything you poked your head in, someone shot at it. .

I'll wait until the focus threads come out before I post any thoughts. It looks like the "vision" is already in place. But please, no combat protocol droids.

Yeah, I want a follow up on this as well. The definition of clusters statesthat clusters fit a "variety" of slots. ("This is an array that can fit a variety of droid sockets" to be exact). Are clusters working as designed or not? Clusters within clusters is obviously a bug as you mentioned.

In light of the fact that droids will now accept every type of crafting station, clusters will be needed to make all-in-one droids (R3 only accepts 6 modules, but there are now 8 modules we can use, though I can't remember the type of sockets the R3 accepts). I assume the purpose of clusters is fitting more modules into a droid as their definition implies.

This issue has been a source of considerable (and I believe needless) acrimony in the DE community. We'd like to have it settled once and for all.

My money is on not being able to put cluster modules into general module slots. Otherwise an advanced MSE can hold 6 modules.

As for how to get all the modules into a cingle droid, I think the answer is that you can't.
