After seeing the Chef re-vamp I was impressed with how widespread and valuable those food-buffs are. Having said that I am not so impressed at this moment with what I have been reading about the DE rework.
With only 250 skill points to work from a player is forced to make hard choices in this game. I want a substantial return on the skill points I spend. Now granted a weaponsmith can create a weapon he cannot shoot, a BE can engineer a pet he cannot control, an architect can construct buildings he cannot place or use, and there are other examples...
But when a CH can store and call a calvary division of engineered or wild pets and then use them to mow down anything in that player's path... telling me I get to make a lovely robotic CL10 pet is NOT going to make me happy. Sure we are all suffuse in the glow of attention being paid to our profession ... but we only get ONE shot at this before the Developer tank rumbles on to wreak mayhem on another profession. You seriously think adding a merchant spam module, a wimpy robotic version of my mount, and an eye-candy entertainer module is going to make me warm and fuzzy?
A hit parade:
1) Paint jobs should NOT wear out on ANYTHING... I don't NEED recurring income that bad... it's annoying.
2) Batteries should stack like identical resources - as in ALL my batteries should sit in ONE slot in my inventory. I can carry 100k of steel... I should be able to carry many more battery USES ... when I dump a battery on my stack it should click over the usage counter and destroy the battery... want to make it more 'craft' like? Give me a multi-battery widget schematic that I can 'craft' to house battery 'charges' --- I can add as many batteries as it is crafted to take... 25, 50, 75, 100... etc. Need a precedent? -- try a 'fireworks show package' ...
3) How about letting my droid tell me useful thingsI need to know or do useful things for me... want some examples?
a) The resource droid -- I don't ever see the 'fly and find best concentration idea'...wonderful as that is.. so how about a droid that houses a survey tool... level 1 - 6 modules 1 for each category... (min, chem, water, gas, flora, power) Have the bot able to hook into the survey 'net' and tell me the current stats of whatever resource is out there... not the location just the stats for a currently available resource. Hey, make a hunter version that works for like a ranger and tells me what the stats are going to be off that big ugly mugg over there... BEFORE I get incapped/dead trying to take it down for its hide only to find out that mr. canyon Krayt has terrible stats for it.
b) Make a droid that gives me a news ticker when I ask for it... vendor management, tells me when the FREAKIN shuttle is going to arrive... how bout letting that useless mouse bot shoot through a little porthole at the starport and by my TICKET for me... I think I could sell a few of THOSE to people.. allow my droid to act as the ticket vendor ... calls up the exact same graphics (lets keep the code simple) and then I don't have to play rat run for cheese...
c) Same for the bazaar... mr droid can plug into the city bazaar net and act as a bazaar terminal....
4) how about an indication of whether or not a droid actually HAS any thing in it's datapad or item storage before I call it... not exactly what... just a empty/not empty flag
And lest we forget - I want to be able to create a droid that can do what creatures can do currently. What is more 'star wars' a graul mauler or a droideka? Am I alone in wondering how we went from a great SCi-Fi classic universe to the 'Land that Time Forgot'?
Tell me I didn't hold on to MDEfor MONTHSonly so I can tattoo 'MORON for wating' on my forhead... so far I am still waiting for a droid that does more than give me another chance at carpal-tunnel-syndrome...
