So probot deeds no longer use good quality chem but fiberplast? Why the change?

This was a mistake on my part...I only use fiber and wasn't thinking.

*phew* I thought I was screwed with my stock of 980 OQ Chem.

It looks like a bit of an upgrade on the old droids but the big question is will it be cost effective to make them since it appears that the resources needed to create probes with full weapon mods goes through the roof.

I wouldn't say its that much more expensive. The chassis hasn't changed I don't think (didn't notice anything) and the combat modules are pretty cheap to make (same as a repair module), as are the combat clusters. If you're looking for more of a value model, you can cut it down to 1 combat module and just use it as a tank (HAM isn't tied to combat modules it seems).

If the stats stay as they are reported in this thread, yes.

If the stats are lowered, as expected, it's unclear.

I'm actually starting to hope that they *will* stay just like this - maybe this is our "gift"...or to keep us quiet, LOL. Either way, I'd be pleased as punch if they stay at this level.

But Jenden..how can you say its not 'that much more expensive'..it looks more expensive to me by quite a bit. Please explain your thinking here

Thanks

Man this place is busy!

That's some pretty cool news. I hope that the 3rd pass still leaves us with a nice bump in effectiveness over the current Probots.

I agree that the resource cost increase to the Probot is significant, but it doesn't bother me. I'll just pass the cost along to my customers like any good businessman. And since it appears thatthe new Probots are going to be noticeably better than the old ones, people are going to buy them regardless.

Haven't decided what I'm going to do with the 500-count run of Probots I have in process. I haven't started putting the chassis together yet (I only have 2 factories) but it appears that I can safely conclude that step no matter what. The only real question is whether or not I need to complete them to deeds in order to put in the medical modules and item storage, or if I'll still be able to do that after the patch and still get decent combat stats.

Just a note for all of you who say you cant find the HQ fiboplast you need. Polymer also works in the final assembly of a Probot/R series, as well as Fiboplast. As a Master Weaponsmith/DE, I keep around 80 different metals/gasses/chems/gems/flora on me all the time. (A pain in the ass alot of the times, as you can imagine, espcially making droidarmor, I have on average 12 types of steel on me, and of couse the amazing inventory shuffle everytime you log on does not help)

I still have around 7k units of the 1000 OQ polymer that spawned on Talus/Gorath a few months ago. I use it whenever I am making a new droid for friends, but now I will hold on to the rest and see what type of droids I can make with it after the new patch.

It depends on your point of view.

In terms of resources, it's not that bad (droid brains aren't incredibly resource heavy).

In terms of components, it's increasing them from 9 to 19. That is more than double the components they needed before.

I don't know about you, but making more than twice the comoponents is more expensive - in time, which is much more valuable than resources.

Add armor and droid stims, and we're in the money. Now THAT would be two products to sell.

Droid Invasion?

Time for me to film my first in-game movie:

"Attack of the Killer Probots"

And the Sequel:

"Invasion of the Superior Probots"

HEH! SOE, if upping 1 of our droids makes you think you are providing a "Droid Invasion"...you have some serious issues.

With these new "combat modules", has there been a change in required resources? What should we be stocking up on?

So, there aren't really "new" combat droids. They're just beefing up Probots. Great! Hey, SOE, thanks for completing the circle.

1) check out the "changes so far..." stickied at the top of the forum. Drashk posted the "new list."

2) Well, they did say that they were going to "un-Nerf" the probot back in September...I assume this is it.
