Thread: FYI: Probot nerf
"You must not know how to 'sploit them thoroughly. You can kill ANYTHING in the game with a single probe droid, if you know the right tricks"
Raph, that's your problem! You'recrippling an entire profession and everyone's bots because of what ahandful of powergamers did. Most ProBot usersdo notuse them to to kill "ANYTHING", most wouldn't even know how, but to stop those few, who I might add have already reaped the benifits of doing so, you're desotrying it for everyone else.
You gotta stop making drastic "should have been fixedway back in beta" type changes based on the actions of the 2% powergamers. You are killing this game for casual players, don't you see that?
DEs, I'm really really really sorry for you guys. ![]()
Kaid
Holo,
What will the cert system be based on? Is it possible that soon, I won't even be able to control my 25k probot that has 800 HAM without spending some skill points somewhere?
Do I understand you correctly, that probots will now be able to die permantently as well?
I think maybe I've gotten confused as to what you are doing now, what you plan on doing soon, and what you will undo in the future.
Is there going to be a recall on probots where I can get my money back? As it stands, they aren't worth 25k.
Also, could you look at the difficulty of Bounty missions now? My understanding is that with the knockdown nerf combined with this droid/pet ner, these missions will be basically impossible.
thanks.
That could be a huge boon for DE's to be able to really support the architect and Architect/miner subclass aside from supplying droid storage modules.
By using droids to improve mining you kill two birds with one stone. Help out the DE profession and help to reduce maint costs of mines all with a player driven mechanic.
My $0.02 anyway.
OMG! bahahahahahhahahaa
Probot with 0 armor and 800 ham! Selling for 14 credits! Limited supply!
bahahahahahahhahahah yeah that thing should last 2.3 seconds in combat. swweet. where can I buy like 40 of them?
Ok Kralis i see your point But our the Master Artisan market will decrease over time no matter what alot of ppl will eventually master it. I dont think 1 Newbie Skill Tree should keep us from Becoming say a Commando and DE.....
Slikey
To the person complaining about a 8.13 rescource selling price, try being an architect. I cant sell asmall house ( almost 3k resources) for more than 10k. I would kill for an 8.13 cred to rescource price. But cant. So you sell me a 5k probot and i will sell you a 24k small house. Sound fair?
Best. Change. Ever.
Probots are now a reusable supplement to combat skills, not a pocket tank that can own a krayt dragon if you have a scout to make a camp for you. Besides, fixing droid decay opens up batteries and droid repair kits as saleable goods - and power droids (sorta), repair droids (sorta)... and it's not like the nerf'd Probot is going to be the most powerful combat droid forever.
I wouldn't complain too loudly about the up-and-coming usage restrictions, either - hopefully they'll throw us the bone we've always wanted and let us use multiple droids at once.
Regardless of what you may feel about this particular change the fact that the change is even being made at all is, in my opinion, extremely positive.
Certs for droids = bad
Along with many obvious reasons for not doing this...I cant see how it fits the continuity (hint: Walk up to Jawa sandcrawler - buy droid, instant. droid owner no experience needed. Sure you need to know how to maintain them but thats where we come back to decay and perma death)
Except that you will sell probots for about 500 credits if you're lucky.
Worst. Screwing.Ever.
Since you missed my post in the main thread, I'll repost my ideas here.
Don't kill the droids, don't remove thier armor. Don't reduce thier weapons.
- Perma-death for driods (already in, it sounds like)
- Only DE's can repair (heal) driods. Instead of just store/call.
- Maybe even a Master DE could repair a 'DEAD' driod, given the correct supplies.
- Certs for driod use.
Now I can have my mega probot, but I actually have to go back to the DE every once in a while and have him fixed up.
This will vitalize the DE profession. Making them actually worth something!!
I won't be able to whip out my driod at every turn, and if I do, I'll be visiting the DE on a regular basis.
Here's a quote from Holocron for ya:
"I think the DE's themselves will hand out probots, if need be, in order to get XP. Advancement, not money, is the prime driver in the SWG economy"
This sound good to you?
I predicted this, if you will recall. This is the single worst nerfing I have ever heard of in all my MMORPGin' years.
I hope Holocron actually sees this before it gets scrolled away, I have a couple problems:
1) Do you see that this effectively takes away the very point of the DE right now? I completely agree that a probot is overpowered, but since none of the other droids serve any purpose, how can you expect this class to be played if you take away the single selling point for the entire class?
2) Is there any chance to allowing the probots being used by a DE to be of higher-power than the ones being sold? I realize you mentioned a cert program for droids as well (I think anyway...so much text), Would this mean that a DE would actually get more use out of their droids than another character?
3) I spent a LOT of time clicking things to get to Master Droid Engineer...was there any point in doing so? You stated that EXP was the prime driver, but UXP DOES NOT WORK FOR DE
also...once you hit master, MONEY is prime motivator
Thank you for your time, I hope you get to see/respond to this.
