Thread: Request to DEs who don't want to use our high end combat droids.
But see, its just that attachment that drives your opposition as well. We havea vision of what this profession can and will become (yes, it is our vision, and does not necessarily match up with yours). I just wanted to make the point that the majority of the peope who opose DE only droids truly love the DE profession, just as much as you claim to. I won't say more, I won't say less, I am not you and can't make that determination.

Not quite everyone, I have no desire, intention, or will to become a jedi. I dedicate all my time (and too much time it really is, around 12 hours a day when I can) to the DE profession.
I would like droidekas to be Master DE only. They are pretty rare in episode 1 and 2, and i really dont want to see everyone running around with a droideka. It's too comparable to all the grauls/maulers around now. But even though they would be the best if MDE only, I would only want them near sludge panther level, maybe a little higher. But not near the next CH level for grauls or whatnot. If they make it too powerful we will have made DE the "new CH." I dont want all powerful combat droids.
I could live with the rest of the things you brought up in the post, but I just can't stand the thought of a DE only droid. What is the big problem you have with certing it to another profession (While I still think there's no reason for DE's to get special certs, I think we need to reach a compromise). No matter what strength it is, I just don't see the purpose of making a DE only droid. What would it hurt you if master commando's or master BH's could use it too? (I still like my idea of certing them to the only ones you ever saw using them in movies, politicians).
As mentioned in previous posts, there are two destinct camps on this subject, but I think that if the DE profession is to go anywhere well, we need to present a united group. If we've got half the people screaming one thing and half the people screaming another, the devs will most likely wind up with a solution that neither side is satisfied with. I think that if both groups can accept a compromise, we can finally get some real work done on the profession.

I wasn't taking into account warping, but agains anything else, if you have the probot guard you 90% of the time it will pull all of the aggro's and leave you free to run away. I do this on a regular basis on my trips to lok and have had no problems with it. I am a master DE/4-4-4-2 Doc so I'm not running to quick and can't do anything to protect myself (other than some heals, but I only need those when the probot isn't out).
If you've read my posts, you'll see that I've said that I have no problem with combat droids as long as we can sell them. Its only when we have DE only combat droids that I have a problem.

No, you are screwing it up because you are pushing for combat uberness over the purpose of the class...to ENGINEER droids for others use.
There are SO many things that need to be fixed so that DE's can actually make a living selling droids to others. Giving DEs a personal droid to go grind missions with all the combat classes defeats the whole purpose of the class, and shouldn't even be on the list.

I see the DE only droid as fine as long as we get other combat droids to sell. The roger rogers, super battle droids, assassin droids. If we only get one new one, then I do not want it master DE. i wouldnt like it if it was droideka for MDE, probot for everyone else.
Multiple new combat droids is my only requirement for one MDE droid. I want new combat droids to possibly sell too.
You won't get both sides to agree, basically they are diametrically opposed to one another.

Can someone at least explain why you want a DE only droid. I can understand and agree with combat droids to sell, I can understand wanting to be certed for them (even if I don't agree), but I just don't get the DE only thing.

Ok Droid-Creator...convince me. Give me one good, logical reason why droid engineers should get DE-only combat droids over all other things that DEs need. What does this idea fix?

You are showing your true colors now, and who is to say the true purpose of the class, certainly not you or I. That is up to the direction the devs wish to go.
Just for the record, I'm not trying to be uber. I think our best combat droid would still be worse than a master elite combat character. I, and others would like the option of taking DEs into the field more and being able to bring more to a group, especially since the devs have shown the story lines will center around combat.
I agree with you partially Jenden, I want combat droids to sell, but I'd Love a Droideka for masters only or a Squad of Roger Rogers. Themarket of selling droids... too many variables to get into, but as a master I make a living with droid sales, as a noviceI had to run missions to pay for harvestors. So work yourselft up to a lvl where your products compete or sell service. If you havent made your multiple millions yet and your whining about not getting rich as a DE then change professions, go Weaponsmith or Armorsmith. If your just in it for the money,then You are ruining theprofession, not the players here before you working hard at Being a DE.

I never said this is needed over everything else, don't try to put words in my mouth. This post is about ONE SINGLE aspect of proposed changes.
I'll give you two logical reasons...
1) One, If I build it I can operate it better than anyone else...at the top end of the spectrum others can't operate it at all.
2) As stated before, if anyone is able to use top end combat droids then they will be balanced to account for high weapon skills which 90% of DEs don't have, so the droids will be FAR FAR weaker. Most likely to the point of being virtually useless to non-elite combat classes.
