Thread: Q&A Time I need a list of questions to ask the DEVs
1. will you lessen the dependancy on other craft profession for the DE like artisan made stuff?
2. will you actually be able to patch us with good modifications by February?
3. will you update the old probots with the new combat stats or are you going to force us to make/buy new ones?
Not to go on a rant or anything... but after seeing the probey model update thread, I'm a bit perturbed. So, here's what I posted there:
- Humanoid droids STILL cannot be named... AT ALL
- Numbers can't be used in any droid names
- Repair modules don't work in LE Repair and Power chassis
- Colors don't stick when making advanced chassis - why are we even allowed to color static chassis... we're not in the g-**edit** furniture business
- Colors don't always stick on droids when customized
- Item storage modules STILL do not function in Surgical chassis (normalnor advanced)
- ... and many more
Will greater utility be added to existing droids either through modules or native function?
Will experimentation and material quality have an impact on the finished product at some point in the future?
Will we see new droids other than combat droids, or is the entire focus of creative attention on combat droids currently?
Could all ADV versions of our droids have a chassis schematic added? (okay, so that's 4 questions, but I'd like a full line of chassis for display, decoration and sales)
Why cant DEs have more droids in data pad.More droids 'out' ? (then if i could put a repair mod in a power droid I would be able to fix my own droids, etc.)
Why cant BLLs lift more loads ? (Like more item storage, or maby house style crafting stations, missle launchers, power cores, etc.)
Will 'over clustering' ever be a bannable offence ? ( i hope not. It shouldnt be a balance issue as it wont be doable by the time combat modules etc, get here. And I hope you at least warn us.( No, i havnt been selling them, but I admit I do have an 'omni' power bot, to play with. Be nice if his repair mod would work (g)))
Here we go, simple and stupid, just like in the instructions. I included background for each question for clarity and flavah.
1) Droid Battery usage: Battery stacks are too small, and they are in the artisan tree (although DE's are called upon to make these most often, since they are an accessory to our product). If there were an "advanced battery" in the DE tree, that might help. Battery life is too short. There is no way currently to monitor how much battery life a droid has. Any or all of these drawbacks can detract from the experience of owning a droid, therefore making them less visible and less immersive. Can we get some acknowledgement on our battery use issues? *low power*
2) Droid Functionality: Droids do not fill a useful role for enough of the playerbase, and combat Droids cannot fill that role because of balance issues. Many module ideas for utility have been suggested in our forums. Which modules that the community have suggested do you have plans on implementing in the near future?
3) Vehicles and droids: Droids cannot follow along with vehicles because of speed. Beyond the camp calling requirement, there are good reasons to have droids out as much as possible rather than storing and calling at each stop on a trip. What plans are there to include a feature where droids can become passengers on vehicles (i.e. A New Hope - on the landspeeder)?
1. Why must we make lists and restate our concerns repeatedly when 98% of our concerns are posted in Gorantoth's 'Centralized Droid Issues'? (not meaning any disrespect to anyone here but it is all there and has been even pre-Sinistro. In place of 10 questions Id like to see every issue on that thread addressed by action or explanation.)
2. Its been stated that Droidekas were wanted even by the Devs in-game, are there any other droid types being developed/considered?
3. Are any non-combat droid functions being considered?
I know you said to limit it to three, but I some more question -
- With respect to the new combat modules, will you be limiting them to use in certain types of droids? For example, an R2 with guns doesn't seem very in character - a BLL with some combat abilities (e.g., stepping on people) does.
- Will there be a seperate slot type added to the droid schematic? Right now, we have module, module cluster, and armor module slots for droids.
- Will there be different types of combat modules (e.g., blasters vs the droid stepping on you - ranged vs melee combat)?
When will all the current bugs be fixed? (a listcan be found at the top of this fourm)
Will the current line of droids have new functionality added to them, an example would be the ability for power droids to power factories and harvesters. If so what is planed?
Will MDE's ever be able to have more than one droid out at a time so we can repair our own droids, if yes please explain, if no how do you plan to let us heal or repair our droids?
I have more questions if you want them.

The big question that we're all wondering is:
Why can't we get a clearer picture of what they are doing? This includes a real timeline, not tripe about "programming times are intangable".
Interestingly it's almost catch-22. If they refrain from answering it, then the odds are they are most likely doing something that 90% of us are against but they don't wish to lose accounts by announcing. If they do announce that they are putting in a full DH profession then they then risk the loss of most of us. The only way to win is if they announce that they are planning something else, but even then it runs the risk of upsetting some.
So, unless they are ready to actually stand up and bite the bullet rather than sucking money from our wallets until they are ready to backstab us, we will never truly get an answer to the one question we really need to know. That's the problem with dealing with a group of intelligent kind-hearted players: they don't enjoy being betrayedbut are smart enough to try and avoid it where possible.
Unless, of course, they are taking into account our suggestions. In which case the question is perfectly valid.
Will thereever be any non-trivialgame-play differentiation between the non-R-series chassis and the R-series chassis? As it stand all non-R-series droids (except for the Power droids and the Probots) have no useful gameplay function whatsoever aside from looks, because there is always an R-series droid lower in theblueprints branchthat has either the same numberof module slots (and in many cases more). There are HAM differences, but since they never go into combat and can't be permanently destroyed, those differences are meaningless.
Will the dev's every consider the idea that significantly expanding the non-combat functionality of droid modules could come a long way towards making droids a more ubiquitous feature of the game?
When were there be documentation in the holocron that correctly and fairly thoroughly explains how droids work, and what their benefits are? It is my believe that one very big reason a lot of players do not own droids is because they have no idea what droids do, and there is no way for them to find out unless they seek out a droid engineer in game, or research droids themselves online. The vast majority of players never do either of those things, and this is probably why a lot of people don't have droids.
1) Can we have a chassis version schematic/option for ALL droids? We can build (and decorate) wth some of the possible droids...but I know there are many that would like to have this ability for ALL droid models (including new ones).
2) Will we ever see droid AI/scripting behave a LOT more like the droids we all know/expect? I know many would love to see custom/macro text scripting that could be used for their droids. I think this would help to make droids (and droid use) FAR more 'Star Warsy' in-game. This has been a long standing wish that I've heard echoed from many DEs and non-DEs alike.
3)What new specific 'utility'/service (non-combat) modules are being considered as possible for short-term inclusion into the game. Related to this, what are the concerns/issues or details that we DEs should be considering and discussing? I think if you allow us to 'work' on the 3 modules, for example, that you think are most promising, you'll find that we can help to detail out those ideas quite well (with some guidance).
