Thread: Q&A Time I need a list of questions to ask the DEVs
1). Is experimentation going to mean anything for Droid Engineers in the near future ???
2). If they make strap on guns for current droid models, is the Protcol still going to have 45 HAMbut carry agun ??
3). Are we actually going to have some new droid models despite all the bickering between the DE community ? Or will we be scrapped again because they don't know what to do ?
reposting my questions with typos removed. sorry about that. we have no edit function on these boards.
- Will thereever be any non-trivialgame-play differentiation between the non-R-series chassis and the R-series chassis? As it stand all non-R-series droids (except for the Power droids and the Probots) have no useful gameplay function whatsoever aside from looks, because there is always an R-series droid lower in theblueprints branchthat has either the same numberof module slots (and in many cases more). There are HAM differences, but since they never go into combat and can't be permanently destroyed, those differences are meaningless.
- Will the dev's ever consider the idea that significantly expanding the non-combat functionality of droid modules could come a long way towards making droids a more ubiquitous feature of the game?
- Whenwill there be documentation in the holocron that correctly and fairly thoroughly explains how droids work, and what their benefits are? It is my believe that one very big reason a lot of players do not own droids is because they have no idea what droids do, and there is no way for them to find out unless they seek out a droid engineer in game, or research droids themselves online. The vast majority of players never do either of those things, and this is probably why a lot of people don't have droids.
Is the current list of DE changes in the Test Notes all there will be for Push 6?
Will experimentation ever be fully implemented? (i.e., making it actually useful)
Will we be seeing new non-combat droids anytime soon?
- Is the idea of having of having droids with their own skill tress that require player skill points to advance the droid over CL 10 an idea that can even be considered?
- Can we have droids that have diverse and useful skills that can augment all professions and not just combat
- Can droids have personality and be cutomizable so as to seperate them from pets who are just combat tanks
- Will droids ever be able to keep up with vehicles? I can understand why this is hard for the walking type droids, but the Probot can't even keep up with me.
- Will droid engineers be able to make droids to be used for Vendors? (Rather than creating one out of a hat through a building control terminal?
- How many droids to you plan on allowing Droid Engineers to control at one time?
- Are you currently focusing more on Combat Droids or Utility Droids? If one more than an other, do you plan on coming up with the other at some point?

You know, there is one last question that needs asking here... Can we get a full list of the questions you ask before you submit them, Drashk? Not meaning to call you out, but I don't want them filtered out before they even reach the Devs. Your job is to represent DEs, not do the Devs dirty work.
So how bout it Drashk? Think that'll be good?
I was asked to produce a list of 10 questions for TH to find out answers to, so I'm going to submit a list of 15.
I havethe beginnings of alistalready inmind, but I wanted affirmation that I was on the correct track. I'll go through and pick the top 15 that I think will have the best shot of being answered or are on top of the communities 'most wanted' list.
I'm sorry if people disagree with me that its not part of my 'job' as Correspondent to select which questions are to be asked, but think of it this way, I could have asked the questions myself without anyone being the wiser. ( I'm a little on edge after the flame attacks that I'm not being impartial on behalf of the community. GuessI need to push the DEVs harder for a Fire Extinguisher module.)

I'd say that's fair.

Okay...we all trust you (or, we better).
Please try to get across to them how important it is that the answers we receive are NOT just 2 or 3 words or a simplistic or vague sentence.
If they want to take the time to do this, it's worth ALL of our time for them to unequivocally and unmistakably answers the questions. Point blank.
I think that the issue where a Dev gives an "answer", and it raises like 12 other questions, is the situation that I'm trying to avoid. We need clarity.

Yes...I think there are some here that are being entirely unfair. I guess you must have known that this would go down with some in the community. I believe that you DO have the best interests of all DEs at heart. The issue that you face is that there are several 'camps' of DEs and they all scream/rant/flame in their own ways.
Just try to remain in the center and be an arbiter. I guess that's all we can ask.
Respectfully,
I have two questions...
1. When is a dev going to go point by point through the current issues post and address each and every point in plain english (no devspeak please)?
2. When do we get a Droid Engineer manual explaining the profession from the Dev's point of view in detail?

Ok here's my 3
1. Can we ever hope to get step by step answers (and action) on the Centralized Droid Issues thread that has been stickied for so long it's become part of the forum furniture now?
2. Why is the development plan for Droids a 'State Secret'..or put another way can we get a Droid Plan published? (as has been said..it MUST exist on a desk somewhere). Specifically my customers want to know what is reasonable to expect in the future regarding non-combat modules. They are currently disappointed at the options available.
3. Can droid customization be made permanent (its just a pain for us and our customers) and in similar ways can Battery usage be addressed so that it is reasonable.
Thankyou
#1 - Will we have something else apart from combat droids in the next publishes? (bug fixes, new modules... whatever!!)
#2 - What did you exactly mean with "combat modules for all existant droids"?
#3 - When are you going to address all the already listed DE issues?? ![]()
