Just a point: Making droids in a factory does not harm quality in any way, even if experimentation HAD any real effects it wouldn't harm quality. A factory allows you to take a schematic which you've experimented to a high quality level, and reliably mass-produce it.

Thanks Rho and Therearentan. I quoted Rho because it was shorter.

Actually, making them in a factory can require more work, and certainly requires more time, than making them by hand.

I used to think like the original poster - that making them by hand was best - but it's really not. Even though, as There pointed out, the quality of materials has NO impact on the final droid, I still experiment very high on crafting stations/etc., because I'm interested in providing a product that is quality in the long term, even if it doesn't matter now.

I make items that are just as high quality as the original poster - more reliably, in fact. And people love to buy a crate of Probots, in my experience.

I apologize if I came off snotty, but I feel the original poster came off as a rip-off artist who's customers are finding better value elsewhere, and who doesn't want to adapt.

It's easy - either you sell a few droids at a huge, disgusting mark-up, or you sell a lot of droids at a reasonable price.

Any Master DE who isn't making money just isn't doing something right.

All the talk about prices and extreme markup has got me wondering. In comparison, CH's charge 75-100k for large pets. Now, how much work do they need to do to tame these? I know Bio Eng'smight be able tocreate them, but in comparison, a 25k probot is nothing. I made a client a DZ70 with repair and storage this weekend and charged him 7500. He INSISTED on paying me 75k. WhenI pointed out the overcharge, he just said, "why not", so I took it. He was very happy anyway, so I don't see a problem.

1. We can make a general socket module and abuse it. So why not? Even if you're against it, it's going to be done, and it will not be fixed until it's done a lot.

2. A mere 30k? Good thing you're not on Valcyn, I sell a maxxed ADV. Probot for 6k. Maybe I should visit Eclipse and make a statement?

Roger Roger Battle droids to cost 100k minimum.. Reason being they are the pinacle of our technology and should be charged as such.. At the begining charge more then 100k but make sure it does not fall below that..

"Again. Exactly two modules provide a usefull affect. The remainder do not. So why does it matter if a droid is pumped full of modules that are either non-functional or marginally functional?" -Therearntan

This would be called "exploiting." If you do not agree, sorry. When you play the game each time, you agree by clicking the accept button that you will "report all exploits to SOE andnot communicate themwith other players";according to the license agreement stating:

7. You acknowledge that you are bound by the terms and conditions of the Software License and Limited Warranty that accompanies the Game. You acknowledge and agree that you have not and will not acquire or obtain any intellectual property or other rights, including any right of exploitation, of any kind in or to the software, artwork, music, and other components included in the accompanying CD-ROM (the "Software") or the Game, including, without limitation, in any character(s), item(s), coin(s) or other material or property.

Sorry, I don't exploit. General module socket clusters ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE GOING IN THE WRONG LOCATION JUST BECAUSE THEY FIT AND HAVEN'T FIXED THIS ISSUE YET. This is according the license agreement of the game. You WILL NOT exploit items or characters according to the above listed by SOE.

According to Therearntan, exploiting is fine and completely justified in his own mind. He obviously needs to develop a code of ethics because if he were ethical, he wouldn't be saying or doing such a thing as this. You would be following the terms and agreements to which you agree to every time you play the game. If you don't agree, then stop clicking accept and don't play at all. That simple. Every DE who thinks this way is in the same boat. I have a higher moral code obviously than to choose and exploit items in the SWG environment.

And I disagree with you Therearntan, experimenting does help out components that are installed. And it will definately help when the experimentation tree is fixed too. And if you think I'm "raping" my customers, why don't you go and post a message to the CH's that are selling dewbacks on the Eclipse server for 900K, without the mount. If you don't like my prices, go fly a kite. My droids sell, that's what counts, and each server is different, some people charge way more for droids. The guy with the custom droid order on his website is charging 15K for one piece of level 6 armor added to a droid. His droids sell for way more than mine, and he has plenty of orders. Until you play on the Eclipse server for 6 months, then you can talk about prices. Ethics speak a lot for people, and it tells me a lot about whatexploiters do outside this game and how they think. There are more than a few exploiters that have posted on this thread too.

At least I play this game honestly, and maybe you should start to as well.

With a cost 3.00cr/unit, the total cost to make the droid is 4,287.00cr.

Using a selling price of 24,000.00cr, your mark-up is 459.83% and will make a profit of 19,713.00cr. (16.79cr/unit)

Not everyone is fortunate enough to find resources for only 3cpu. And although I dont have even close to a 450% mark up on my droids I dont disagree with someone who decides that that is what they want to do. Is it really any more ridiculous than a CH charging 300K for a Kaadu mount which didnt cost them a thing to train other than time?

Ethics.. Yes let's talk about ethics... I am the droid engineer that Shawn122 is talking about in his original post... What he did not tell ya allis inhis original note to me his biggest concern was that I should only put certain features into certain types of droids forcing people to buy more than one droid and that I should support this because all DE' do.. HA.... Then the note when on to say how much more money I could make if I did it his way and charged more for my droids..... If your want a copy of the note let me know...

Sounds like his idea of supporting the DE economy is price fixing and creating monopolies... talk about BAD ethics.... Not to mention that I get this supposed innocent email just offering his help ...only to find that he is posting here, checking upon myvendor to see what I am doing andasking for your opinion if he should reportme to a CSR! I think his actions paint a very clear picture......

Bottom line...I respect your right to do it your way.... Respect my right to do it my way... Why is it there always someone willing to stick their nose into your business instead of minding their own!!!

What happens if you charge 20K for them?

Try it. I think you'll find very little difference in sales.

I don't see how it's an exploit if the 'General Module Socket Cluster', which 'fits in a variety of sockets', also fits in the 'General Droid Module Socket'.

You're drawing a false conclusion. What you're looking at is a bad design -- not something unintended.

You've got me riled-up here. By your own diatribe, then, you should stop stacking Medical Modules, Item Modules, and Data Modules -- and stop putting Repair Modules in R2 units. OBVIOUSLY, those are exploits too, and each time you play the game, you AGREE NOT to exploit. You're dishonest.

[Do you see how it sounds?] Because we disagree does not mean we're exploiters. Load-up your droids. It's how they were designed.

Wow, buddy -- might I suggest decaf? Because this IS just a game, you know. (Here it comes now, gang... duck and run)

As far as exploiting the cluster... Name one DE who's been cancelled for using the Cluster as some sort of "exploit." Just one, on any server. By the game's own definition, the cluster will "fit in a variety of sockets." Now let's play with our imagination a little. Let's say that a basic module for any droid is W-shaped:

\/\/

A nice, interlocking configuration, don't you think? OK. So, take two more modules and plug them into the first... something like this (I hope this works.. if not, imagine interlocking Ws):

\/\/\/\/
...\/\/

(periods are for alignment, ignore 'em)

We now have a cluster! Will this cluster not fit into the same socket as a module by itself? Indeed it will.

No exploit here. Bad design, perhaps. But there's nothing "unethical" about using the cluster in this way.

If it's meant to be changed, it will be changed, and you won't hear any complaining from me. But you, shawns122, cannot & will not determine my code of ethics, just because you think something is so. Especially when I've not had a single customer complaint or bitter encounter with another DE. Not to mention the fact that no CSR has ever come knocking on the door of my resplendent Nabooian house to tell me I'm doing something horribly wrong.

NOTE: My "\/\/" diagram was just an example of one possible explanation as to why the cluster will also fit in a general module socket, and not to be taken as anything more than that -- just offering up the fact that there CAN be a way to explain this "exploit," which isn't really an exploit at all.

Well for my 2 cents I was approached when I was still an up and coming Novice by a MDE. He sent me his price list and asked to avoid undercutting and to also not take away the Novices being able to sell R4's and R5's please follow this price list. I have done this and have not had too much problem selling. Money is light compared to other crafters but it is ok. The highest droid I sell is the BLL as it is the most pain to make with the factory runs.My Adv Probots go for 25k and I usually get no complaints. Every once in a while some will say that is too high. It really depends on the server. When I started and made MDE I think there was only 3 o others so demand was up so price may need to come down as there are of us.
